all this informations are my.
I have create 3 precursor with low cost, and i have calculate my personal drop rate of this rare weapons. The Best metod for have the high % of exotic from mystic forge is this:

Exotic From GOLD = 20% of the times

16 Gold Weapons Level 80 ---> 1 Exotic
if the medium price for sell Exotic is 4 Gold you can take back 3.4 Gold
3.4 Gold / 16 =  21 silver each Gold weapons used in the mystic forge.

the drop rate for the precursor is near 1 /100 of exotic.

100 Exotic = 1600 Gold Weapons level 80
and one of this 100 Exotic is the Precursor.


The Best Recipe in the mistyc forge is:

1 orrian + 1 shaman norn + 2 different Krait



you actualy spend for each precursor near 10 gold.
and remember you can't known if the precursor exit at the first fusion or after 250.


400 fusion for this zap.  lost  14 gold  made 100.

How recent is this?
Because all krait weapons went up drastically after bot banwave, most are at ~35s these days.

example ,  i like put  in the mistyc forge 4 sword or  4 staff or 4 banana,   my friend like put all random weapons, last time he have forged The Colossus form 1 shield 1 dagger and 2 wand.

You can make precursors in the mystic forge by tossing in rare weapons.

You have absolutely no data or evidence to back this up, it's not a community project, it's presented in very poor english, and I speculate that you're posting this to manipulate the market.  The mystic forge is a toilet, don't throw money at it needlessly.

i say this because to much player try put weapons in the mistic forge  , and don't known what can will append.
I have used more than 5000 gold level 80. and now  i can say what append if you use the mistyc.
in this topic i say only the beast metod for lose less golds.

Something is wrong with the math here. If each gold weapon costs about 22.5 silver, and 1600 gold weapons are needed to get a precursor weapon, then 1600 x 22.5 silver = total cost of 360 gold, not 10 gold.

Your calculations arent correct either.
If the dropchance of exotics is 20%, that means you receive an exotic on every 5th attempt. That means 20 rares = 1 exotic, not 16.

His math is perfectly right...
Guess what you will get if you do not get an exotic? Right, a rare one. So after 4 attempts (for which you will need 16 rares) in which you failed to create an exotic weapon you got the 4 missing rares for the 5th attempt.

80+16+3.2 = 99.2 Extoric from 1600 gold weapons

first off, your opening screenshots don't tell us anything other than the exact weapons you bought and that you sold a zap.  for all we know you were flipping it, it proves nothing.

secondly, regardless of what you put in the forge, you're still just spinning a wheel and praying it comes on the right number for a precursor.  It's all RNG.  There is nothing we can do as players to exploit it into giving us exactly what we want (precursor) on every combination, or if there is someone is keeping it well under wraps to avoid it being changed by Anet.  Just because you lucked out with a specific set of weapons doesn't mean myself or anyone else for that matter will.  I've tossed 500 greatswords of all level 75+ rare/exotic into the forge and have yet to see a precursor.

i say , you sell all exotic to trading post ,  my total gold used is near 14 gold

Well, was fun his attempt to type the perfect formula. At the moment he wrote maybe it could appear the cheapest, except the market is a constant fluctuation, and his formula has no real results as the formula for precursors. The godskull cheat is dead long ago, that one was a real cheap exploit, and noone got the ban too, as much i was warning them

So all those rares and exotics you get back go...where?

The golds go back into the forge. The exotics get sold. This is what he said in his third paragraph. Average sell price of the exotic = 3.5g, So he gets most of the cost of his rares back.

it's all about luck.
btw just another note here, no matter which type of precursors you are going for (say Zap),
always throw in the great sword to the Mystic Forge.

GS is the most valuable precursor in TP. Once you get one, sold it to TP and you get plenty of gold back to re-invest into your precursor acquisition and the needed materials.

my friend after  8 exotic... made The Legend.......... no comment, and now my ather friend try put all moneys in the forge,  done 76 Exotic and  no precursor.

If anything, this just proves that the Mystic Forge is really good at what it is--a giant gold sink.

Wait, what? Pardon my possibly very noob'ish question, but I can make ANY precursor with rares in the forge?
I am a pure wvwvwv'er and know very little of forge recipies, crafting and such but I allways wanted a shot at the Dreamer. According to the wiki (http://wiki.guildwar.../wiki/The_Lover) the precursor ONLY drops from dungeon and champion chests, wich puts you sol as a wvwvwv'er.

But if I throw 4xany rare shortbow(level 76+?) in the mystic forge I get a shot of the Lover?

very very very very low chance.

And precursor's can drop from regular mobs as well.
So it's likely killing people in WvW can get you a precursor, though your killing at a fraction of the speed someone in regular PvE can.
