Groups. They are the double-edged sword that we all need to push through the dungeons in Tyria, but sometimes finding a group can be harder than the dungeon itself. That is where gw2lfg comes into play. This handy little website allows you to set up a party listing that lets players on different servers know you would like to team up. You can either set up your own party listing, or focus the search parameters to a specific dungeon path. Listings are also sorted by the newest "lfg" posting, so you don't have to worry about mistaking day old posts for a current request. Remember that dungeons are cross-server, but region locked. North American servers cannot party with European servers.

Now here's where you all come into play. A website like this can only improve with visibility. Tell your friends, your guildies, tweet, retweet, even pass the word along to the next stranger you meet on the bus. Word of mouth is a powerful weapon. Show no mercy.

Sadly, a glance at GW2LFG shows just how screwed you are if you're a new player looking to do story modes to unlock explorables.

Currently, 14 of 307 entries on the board are for story mode - and of those, four are dupes from the same guy, and one is an idiot who selected CoE Story but put "LF2M FotM 5. No Magic Find. Ensure you're on an NA server" in the description.

So 10 out of 300+ groups. GW2 is basically at the point now where if you didn't start playing at release, you're unlikely to ever run a dungeon (other than Fractals) until ArenaNet finally crack and add a proper dungeonfinder.

A great thing to have, but I'm hoping Anet will incorporate what it does into the game like they should have form the start. :)

You only need one person with story mode complete to get the whole party access to explorable mode.

Awesome website. Been using it alot.

Just wish we could cross region play in dungeons so when i want to play at 3am I can still get a group :P lol

Few weeks ago, while lvling some alts, we thought with firends "let's do some story modes" and we found ppl to do them in less than 10-15 minutes.. so it may not be an instant play, but still you can do it. Same goes for explorable modes, so i think you just have bad luck or too lazy to ask around and be patient.

People are not actively looking to do those dungeons, because they reward shit.
But if you're looking for a party in LA, or just ask guildies/friends you can very easely get a group for it.

And I don't know if it's good the site gets much publicity.
At the start only very motivated people used the site, which ensured if you looked for a party for Arah it were all competent people, that is changing already now.. :/

Last week I joined a "experienced AC team, needs 1000+ tears", I pinged my full armor set, weapons and gift of ascalon, then mid run they didn't know how to dodge Kholer..

This needs to get implemented in the game asap. They do have a web browser interface in the trading post already, shouldn't be much of an issue to do the same for other sites.

Finally some spot light on this site.  I've been trying to spread the word on this site for a very long time now.  Whenever I see someone spamming map for a group I make sure to whisper them and let them know about the site.  Everyone should be doing this, and in the process telling them to spread the word as well to friends and people they may group up with down the lines.
Being on a EU server now, you notice it's a lot less known than that of the NA part.  So I've been trying to do my part here as well.

The more people that know about this site, the faster groups will get formed.  Spread the good word!

Actually this article seriously degraded experience of every one who use it. Let me explain this web site is only shared withpeople who are interested in game deeply inaf to stumble on it, and because of that quality of players in your PuG group is vastly superior than random people in map chat making dungeon runs better for every one who use site. This kind of exposure will bring lot more people in lowering overall quality. If you think I am wrong when I say this site is made not to be easily funded ask you self one question why is not even Indexed on Google? there is no way to find it except of entering website name in address bar.

I hope the development of the site continues a little further and adds some more filtering options, just for the simple sake of being a little pickier about your PUGs.

I am a bit torn here: promoting a site like this leads to our bitching about a lack of an in-game LFG system being less often and given how this should be one of A.net's priorities this really isn't good, but on the others side, it's insane to expect folks to give up on all the available resources and have a worse game than they could have had JUST to make a point.

GOTY my ass.

Yeah, it's really something that should have been in the game at release. They even had a template of it in GW1.

Anyway, I'm glad there are some enterprising community folks that made this. In lieu of something in game, people really need to spread word of this site as I doubt a whole lot know about it.

This game is in serious need of a decent LFG tool. Even the one GW1 has is light years beyond the piece of crap ANet smacked onto GW2, it blows my mind how they couldn't have foreseen the huge hole it would leave in the game.

The game needs more guild, party and social mechanics across the board, unless your in an active guild it feels like a solo game, not a RPG MMO.

I'm pretty sure as long as one person in the party has done story, everyone can run explorable... And also, story mode is still do-able, might take a little bit more effort to find a party but I'm sure guildies and others would be willing to help out.

I love the site but hate that I need to use it.  Honestly I see the lack of in-game mechanics for this as a problem but I'd rather they get a lot of other things live first.  sPvP needs some attention if they're serious about the eSport thing.

This site is great now, but it does not scale well. If it ever become truly popular, it will be a pain to use. The main problem is that the site is merely an advertising site and not a matching site. For example, 2 GLFP and 2 PLFG for a particular dungeon means 2x2 = 4 messages to sort out the groups, but 20 GLFP and 20 PLFG means 20x20 = 400 messages to sort out the groups.
