Also WvW does NOT need a dungeon in it.  All that will mean is more PvEers will be trying to get into WvW thus making Q times for people who ACTUALLY want to WvW.  Tying in more PvE to WvW isn't the answer.

On almost any server there are no qeues anymore and any extra player would be welcome.

To quote the whole post:

Hey guys,

Just to help provide some clarity on this, we’ll be releasing within the next couple of weeks a high level summary of our big plans for the first half of 2013 to help provide more transparency into our plans with the game going forward. This will include providing more details about our goals for the game, information about the stories and features that you’ll see in the Jan/Feb/March releases.

To set expectations accordingly, the January release will be a relatively small release that sets the table for the stories and features we plan to roll out with the Feb/March releases and beyond. Also, there will be no new race, profession, or new region with these larger Feb/March releases. One of our major goals with these releases is making our existing world as strong as possible, ensuring there are reasons to go to all the locations in the world we’ve already built, and strengthening the core game we’ve provided. In saying this will be an expansions worth of stuff in these releases, we’re talking about the number of new features that will be rolled out across PvE, WvW, and PvP in early 2013, which usually you’d only find in an expansion for a traditional MMORPG.

More details and specifics to come in the next couple of weeks, but I hope that helps provide some more insight into what to expect at a very high level.

It's not false advertisement, but yeah I'm kinda sad we won't get anything truly new.

Well building on existing content means southsun cove will get fresh stuff too.

If the rumors about can expansions are true, we'll probably have to wait until then for new zones and stuff.

1) Has any1 mentioned the scenario of this game? Or am I the only one here who finds it at least childish, with paper characters and totally predictable in every way? There supposed to be an RPG after the MMO and as far as I know RPGs are notorious for their mind blowing stories, no?

2) Imho the map should be unlocked once for every account. It kills me when I have to run around the same maps, unlock the same WPs and POIs with every new toon I roll. But I m just an "alt-a-holic" so maybe the fault is mine.

3) Finally, wouldn't it be awesome if they implemented some sort of "jumping-hanging-grabing" system in the jumping puzzles? I mean, look at Assasin's Creed or Prince of Persia (games that require A LOT of climbing/jumping etc) because I rlly hate it when I try to jump from one rock to another and fall in the abyss just because the game lagged for a split second or the camera flinched or w/e.

As a jumping puzzle obsessed maniac, I pray for the latter or I m afraid one day my laptop will pay the price :P

(Btw, does any of the big guys read these posts or we r crying alone in the desert?)

In EU I deal with Q times frequently.  Everyday to be exact.
But do you really want to wait in Q while people who go to WvW for PvE aren't contributing to the server progressing in points.  They are just there to get into the dungeon and that's that.  Meanwhile people who really want to WvW have to wait?

Expansion wise, I would love if there's heavy content that's lore-based. Specifically more information/activities with the other 5 remaining Elder Dragons (formal reveal of the underwater dragon or the 6th dragon) would be awesome.

I agree with you on everything. Specially the first part. I hope the story gets better after this. WoW's story was a lot better even though it was very grindy it was the best story I've seen in a MMORPG to date. Albeit they extended off the Warcraft series but GW2 had a MMO it expanded off. I mean theres no central characters with love interests, no plotting characters that are actually shown in more than a handful of things other than Caudecus. etc.

Oh, please tell me about all these MMORPGs that have mind blowing stories and still works as a MMORPG (this last part disqualifies SWTOR since other than the story that game is quite worthless as an RPG/MMO).

And yes, if the dungeon isn't ours, those "PvE people" will contribute just aswell to the WvW score as "WvW people"..

I just wish in wvw I could see the people killing me before I am already have dead.

and more guild stuff...and bigger partys...hmmm and while im at it i like chocolate donuts.

Separte the chars on an account...i should have storage space on each individual char, not one bank shared with 6 other chars.

Well, TOR was heavily invested toward its story and it was based upon ME series which, imo, has one of the most intense and mature stories in the industry so I suppose it's far from any other game in the industry. WoW also had a very good scenario as a fellow posted above.

But let's not forget that GW2 is an ambitious effort not just another MMO in the hood. So expectations are very high. It's supposed to bring a new era in the genre after all. It's not another Rift or Aion or w/e, as far as I see it at least.

And collect the same mats again and again every time u roll a new toon? At least now u can have a char working as a gatherer while another doing the crafting.

Why, really why would you want separate banks when you can simply share them??

2) City events

3) Something to do with the spare ascended rings I have.

You never know, some new utility skills wouldn't be that much of a hassle.
Explorable mode in dungeons is basically the hard mode, they just failed to make it actually hard. :P

based on the information below you can take it an expansion is due sometime in 2013  but I did see it somewhere also that anet stated the expansions will be not as quick as was the ones in GW1

Here is a report re Ncsoft and 2013

Overseas efforts to drive earnings in 2H13

We believe earnings will be driven by overseas sales from 2H13. In China, the company is planning to launch Blade & Soul (via a publishing agreement with Tencent) in 3Q13 and Guild Wars 2 in 4Q13 (via a publishing agreement with Kong Zhong). Furthermore, we expect NCsoft to release an expansion pack for Guild Wars 2 in Europe and the US in 2H13. Based on these launches, we have assumed that Blade & Soul royalty income from China will reach a level similar to that of Aion (W60bn in its first year) in 2013. As for Guild Wars 2, we have yet to reflect its Chinese revenues in our forecasts. However, based on the performance of Guild Wars 1 (1.6mn CDs sold since March 2006; 1.1mn copies of the first expansion pack sold since October 2006; 1.5mn copies of the second expansion pack sold since August 2007), we expect Guild Wars 2 to sell 3.12mn CDs in 2012 and conservatively assume that its first expansion pack will sell 1.5mn copies in 2013. We note, however, that the revenue models for the Chinese versions of Blade & Soul and Guild Wars 2 could be different from the domestic ones. For example, in China, NCsoft and Tencent may not implement a monthly fixed-rate scheme for Blade & Soul, while Guild Wars 2 CDs are unlikely to be sold in the country.

Yeah, making a static boss with 10000000000000000k HP is not hard, just annoying.

Yup although there are some cool bosses that come to mind.
  • Lupus (best boss ever)
  • Kholer (not hard but just nice one)
  • 2 lovers ghosts in AC story
  • Simin in Arah p4
  • Mesmer boss in Arah p4
  • CoF boss in p3
  • CoF boss p1 pre-nerf
  • The necromancer boss in TA story
  • ....
There are very nice bosses in GW2, but most people prefer to focus on the bad ones.

Sorry, I guess It didn't make sense now that I read it again. I am just talking about the storage area, not the area that holds all the mats. I'm already out of storage space and have been for a while, and no I'm not spending money to buy more space, nor will i spend gold to buy gems.

Well your server might be the reason for that.
Also these people aren't necessarily going to try as hard or at all to actually make a difference.  People who play the game soley for PvE aren't going to try or even help with the event.  There's guilds who are dedicated WvWers and they don't want to wait for some PvE'er who is holding up a slot where someone who actually wants to WvW is waiting.  Maybe on FSP things are different and any person counts but most top end servers don't need this to draw people into WvW.  All a dungeon is going to do is draw people away from WvW.
