Good idea, but the method is too slow. Advancements in magical understanding over the last 250 years should be used to unleash a new Searing the likes of which Tyria has never seen to vaporize the entire island of Southsun Cove in a blistering, roaring fireball of incandescent fury that will send blast waves of blinding light and waves of flame across the sky. Pact forces in airships could encircle the island at a safe distance to unleash a combined assault with their megawatt laser cannons and artillery just to be sure the destruction is complete, and that no lifeforms survive.

They already announced the update will be improving existing content with stuff that makes life easier (scavenger hunt, LFG tool, fractal updates,...) not add new content. :)

Easy come easy go, nothing to look forward to then for January except my 4 alternates to work on, right now 3 x lv 22 and one lv12.

Gilles do you have a link to the article I missed? :D
Wow I just noticed no blog in 3 months on the blog site.

https://forum-en.gui...rst#post1136181 - This has been posted a few times in this thread.

January update is much smaller than the next two months, and updates on their plans is forthcoming in a few weeks.

Personally, I'm really glad they're taking this direction in development, to improve the content they already have. I hope the new mechanics includes guesting, guild functions, and group finding. It sure would be nice if they could improve methods of playing with other people given this is a multiplayer game.

" One of our major goals with these releases is making our existing world as strong as possible, ensuring there are reasons to go to all the locations in the world we’ve already built, and strengthening the core game we’ve provided."

This is exactly what we need atm... I have big hopes! I hope they can get it right...

So basically it's the stuff they didn't have finished before launch. The list of thinds that didn't make it in is pretty long.

Well except for the Fractals improvements and WvW updates, they've not confirmed much/anything, certainly nothing around a LFG feature/guildhalls/guesting etc (except generally being worked on for some time in the future).

So those things aren't guaranteed to be in the next few months.

Question, feedback or issue? Pm me!

The trading post is by far the most profitable area of the game. There is far more value to sitting in LA flipping items than there is to running around Tyria actually playing the game. Hopefully the patch will bring in more rewards and items which are immune to the influence of the TP. More stuff along the lines of karma rewards and dungeon token sets. We need people playing the game, not playing the TP. Making stuff super rare RNG drops (even if only from specific dungeons) and allowing them to be sold on the TP is only buying into item inflation and catering to the super rich traders and not those who actually play the game.

Less focus on the economy (actively removing relevance and penetration of the TP and power traders) and more focus on rewarding gameplay is what I want to see.

The main thing I want at this point is at least one appealing armor skin for each armor type (light, medium, heavy).  After 700+ hours of gameplay, the abundance of similar-looking trenchcoats and buttcapes has more than exceeded my tolerance threshold.  With the current lack of armor diversity, we may as well be playing stick figures - that might even be an improvement.

Wishlist now that I know it's mostly game fixes, etc.:

* Dungeon revamp
* Fixing loot from champion and world events
* Adding the missing Conquest PvP helm in the PvE equivalent, karma set - hate it that not all armours are in place :(
* Fixing prices of T3 cultural pieces... bit steep increase from T2 to T3 at the moment...

Ring of fire content. Or maybe farther east into the maguuma, content that has to do with Elder Dragons.
As of now, there are times I completely forget about them.

Or upgrade their tier - as exotics or ascended they might vaguely justify their cost.

Biggest thing I'd be looking for is for them to finally get guesting working - I've got friends spread across multiple servers and it'd be nice to see more of them than the occasional name on a guild roster.
Got any comments or queries about moderation in one of my spheres of responsibility? Make sure I get the message!

Completely agree with all of this.
Though in addition to reducing the price of the culteral peices I think they should go ahead and make them exotic.

even if they cut the price in half I could still but 2-3 times as many peices from the trading post for the same amount of gold.

All that being said I do have hopes for other things as well.

1: A new weapon type (great axes have been heavily hinted at by devs & they even said they were coming "soon" as far back again as october last year. Other weapons such as above ground spear or polearm would be great as well)

2: More weapon types being made available to more professions (I'm talking things like the warhorn for ele's & guardians, main hand 1h axe for thieves etc...)

3: New areas unlocked having to do with the dragons & fighting back their corruption (we have Jormag in the north, primordius in the west & Kral in the south just on the other side of Ebonhawk.)

4: New skins for armor that actually look good.

5: New armor types with different varieties of stats on them. (Something with power precision & vitality would be nice, So would something with power, condirion damage & toughness)

6: Improvements to some of the existing weapons to make them more on par with other weapons.

7: More improvements to traits, as is at max only half of mine are even worth considering & even then many of those are very situational.

Vast improvements to WvW with things like

1: Something to get the more casual players out there (My server has the potential to dominate but it doesn't because there are much much much better rewards for doing dungeons & PVE, thus nobody wants to do WvW)

2: Fixes to all the glitching that allows people to take keeps/towers etc... without doing it legitimately.

3: Fixes to portal bombs. Maybe they could put a set number of charges on a portal to limit its uses but cut the CD down by a large margin.

4: Something to reduce culling & abuse of graphics. Maybe they could make a blank placeholder shadow figure to show people who wouldn't normally show up*

5: New types a seige weapons would be cool as well (maybe a man portable bomb that a person runs up to drop & must be disarmed, a blueprint for a mortar would be great as well. you know one that does large amounts of AOE bleeds/poison/chill but not a whole lot of damage to any one target while having better range then the arrow cart)

4+ (a guess) months ago, I hit 80 and got my full exotic set after some dungeon runs + farming mats. I did the first few levels of fractals just to test them out. I did the Halloween stuffs, i did the world dragon spawns, the new area event + got the chest, and the Orr event... I then sat back and wondered "what the heck am I going to do now?"  I did the Orr stuff within the first few times I was in the zone.. i did the dragons as I was leveling, but did them again at 80 just because. The new area event was fun when it wasn't a lag fest.. but that lasted 2 hours in total.

Here it is, about 2 months since I last logged in, and I still don't have a reason to log back in. I guess a game like this one isn't for me. I'm awaiting an update about 2 dozen new world bosses added, a tough chain of events that require tens/hundreds of people in coordination to complete... something that tests my character that i haven't already bested some months prior.. AND AND AND.. rewards me appropriately for it.

Don't even try to mention WvWvW.. which if run correctly, is a giagantic snoozefest.

When is an update that's bringing more challenging content to this game going to come out?

This is actually a great idea, I can't believe I haven't seen someone else come up with this. I would much rather be killed by a black texture-less army than an invisible army, at least I know there are enemies around me.

I've actually seen a few people offer similar suggestions.  One that I liked was instead of the say a shadowy figure, they could use a very low quality model of the character instead.  That way you're at least fighting something that resembles a toon at least.  That said, I don't know how feasible it is, I'm no game designer.

You obviously don't have many friends, patience, or much of a life if you grinded that much immediately.  This is coming from someone thats playing 10 hours a day. Albeit I do a lot of casual stuff with my guildies.

Really hope people don't actually believe we'll get anything like that much.

We're likely to get something like: a new mini zone, jumping puzzle, random more achievements and then 1 other aspect such as; the fractal improvements or the dungeon reward balance etc, as well as the usual skill updates.

Now, if i have to dream a bit, i can tell
- scavenger hunt, appropriately long and hard and worthy of the time spent on it
- new legendaries, lore about them, a legendary hard path leading to them making them worthy to be wielded
- removal of gamble RNG based
- no Anet scams (lol i ask too much)
- classes fixed working at least as intented
- a reason to go around the world, filling it of players running around everywhere
- security department doing his work, inspecting suspicious anomalies of players with an insane amount of gold and too many legendaries
- more TP control to detroy sharks, powersellers, scammers. No possible way to be 100/1000 times richer than the rest of the community, capped price to not allow nothing be sold for an unreachable price, no possible way to powersell anything with a cap even with daily and monthly cap of what someone can buy and resell to stop them
- reprogrammed droprate and loot table working appropriately
- removal of mystic forge slot machine behaviour
- no overbugged patches throw online full of junk

and more
