Do you think those same people would call AJ "the best" and "unbiased" if he had put GW2 at, say, #5? I personally feel it's well below Dishonored and Far Cry 3, although I see where he would think GW2 provides the best value for the money (play time to money spent ratio). But if we're going to put such a high emphasis on value, Planetside 2 should easily be ahead of GW2, or at least right there next to it. Far Cry 3 would easily be ahead of it as well (I've logged almost as much time in it as I have in GW2 and I'm still only halfway through).

So what exactly makes AJ more "fair" and "unbiased" than other reviewers according to these people, other than the fact that he happened to put their favorite game at #1?

He is not at all unbiased. But he does try to look at every aspect of a game and I think that he does try to be as objective as he can (not necessarily successfully ). He has very clear and distinct views (his viewers know that he's not too hot on MMOs for example) which do very often factor heavily into his reveiws - maybe too heavily at times - but I think he can be trusted to at least give an honest opinion on a game. And his viewers are mostly people who share his views rather than a more "general" community.

Not white-knighting him by the way - these are just my observations on his reviews.

Did you even watch his review of it?  I watched every second and it's the whole basis of my statements.  Not only did he narrow in on the issues, he did it so well that we were able to gauge within single digits both the conversion rate before it was announced as well as the massive drop in population this past month, a month ahead of time.  Now maybe that one's also a little too close to home right now for some people (and some mods apparently, lol) to accept.  But the fact the guy can do this stuff without sounding like a Doom-Bellower (as I tend to sound like all too often, I admit) is fairly impressive.  Even TotalBiscuit had trouble threading that particular needle....

I subscribed to him long before GW2 even came out. He's pretty objective.

When he reviews games he puts a large emphasis on both overall game quality/issues (which can be subjective), and value for your money.

I saw a link to an Angry Joe video the other day and wondered if he was still playing. I know many game bloggers/journos/podcasters who will start off playing an MMO and loving it, just to fall off due to playing other games for review. Nice to see him still gushing about it.
