The Line of Kings – King Doric

The lineage of the Krytan throne is fragmented at best, but we do know it all began with King Doric. He was the first king of the united human kingdoms in Tyria. Crowned during the Season of the Phoenix in Ascalon, he ruled over one kingdom that spanned through Ascalon and Lion’s Arch. All modern royalty in Tyria, including Kryta, are descendants of Doric himself.

During 1 BE, when the gift of magic led to wars among the mortal races, Doric journeyed to Arah, as chronicles  in Lore book ‘Thadeus Lamount’s History of Tyria’.

‘Wars broke out immediately as the magical races fought for dominance. So much destruction was wrought that humans found themselves at the edge of extinction. When all seemed lost, it was King Doric, the leader of the united human tribes himself, who made the long trek to Arah, the city of the gods, on the Orrian peninsula. He gained an audience with the creators and begged them to help, to stop the wars and bring peace to the land once again…”

An Interview with: Lady Zarabeth Nicholaides & Minister Arthenon Moreau

The sun was setting over the Nicholaides Manor upon the outskirts of the Salma District of Divinity’s Reach. There, I took tea with the Lady-Chatelaine, Zarabeth Nicholaides, her beloved Arthenon Moreau, the Minister of Fort Salma. Lady Zarabeth had put together what she deems her Tension Slayer tea, something that soothed the nerves and mind as we took company together outside upon a large balcony overseeing the rest of the city.

‘‘Lady Zarabeth,’’ I bowed to the Lady Priestess. '‘I thank you for accepting my invitation.’’  I took out my small leather bound journal, and looked across the table to her and the Minister.

‘‘Indeed, Lady Kingspear. Thank you for being here with us today.” Zarabeth rested her hand gently into Arthenon’s with a smile as she presented me with a small gift, a bottle

of her favored blueberry wine distilled and created by her own sister Iridoria. “Please accept this with our most humblest gratitude that you would come and visit us today.”

‘‘With your permission, I will begin.’’

Guilds in GW2

By - Anaxilea Pendragon

I came across a statement that I felt summed up the idea behind guilds well. It went something like this, "a guild is a group of like-minded individuals working together to accomplish common goals".

In many MMOs the main purpose of guilds is to help players advance through game content. This means helping players level and run them through instances and raids in order to gear. However, this isn't the only purpose of guilds. In some circumstances some guilds are more focused on socialisation than in-game progression. Obviously, in all guilds, there exists a mixture of the two, progression and socialisation, but in different dozes.

Unfortunately, I feel that GW2 guilds miss both of these elements. I'm sure most of you have logged in to find an eerily quiet guild, even though a good few members were online at the time. Or perhaps, you've logged in to find only a handful of you representing the guild, while the rest were representing other guilds. Whether the feature to join multiple guilds and switch between them is responsible entirely for a lack of socialisation between members in guilds is debatable. Though, there is no denying that this unique feature is partially to blame.

Krytan Unrest

By: Alphonse Beckett

A group calling themselves the Republic of Kryta, formed by a union of commoners, has issued an open letter to the people of Kryta and to the Krytan Ministry. Addressing the People of Kryta, the document highlights and outlines cultural, historical, and societal Kryta as an oppressive oligarchy whose bane is the political and social class division between nobles and commoners. Furthermore, it questions judgements made by the Kings and Queens of the state.

Nobleman Dorn Krohnstad Murdered

by Sergev Necheyey

Lord Krohnstad was a great man, his widow Lady Maivila Krohnstad says. And truly, it is such a man that shall be missed in the kingdom.

For, is not the noble being of humanity in truth the representation of splendor, knowledge and elegance that is Kryta, embodiment of values which all men should strive for, from the fisherman of Triskellion, to the farmer of Queensdale, and their sons the Soldier.

In what can only be seen as the most unfortune of events, Dorn Krohnstad was found dead, believed murdered, some days ago, in a room within the confines of Salma Tavern. Lord Dorn Krohnstad was found by the Seraph, which had been sent to retrieve the nobleman who had been missing for a good day.

Manifesto of Equals

By Sylvain Marechal

People of Kryta!

For ten centuries you lived as slaves and, consequently, unhappy. While it have become a state so well known you may not recognize it, so easy now to disregard, deep down you know that you barely breathe, waiting for independence, freedom, equality.

EQUALITY!
The first wish of nature, the first need of man, the first knot of all legitimate association! People of Kryta! You were not more blessed than the other nations that vegetate on this unfortunate globe! Everywhere and at all times the poor human race, handed over to more or less deft cannibals, served as an object for all ambitions, as feed for all tyrannies. Everywhere and at all times men were lulled with beautiful words; at no time and in no place was the thing itself ever obtained through the word. From time immemorial they hypocritically repeat; all men are equal; and from time immemorial the most degrading and monstrous inequality insolently weighs upon the human race. As long as there have been human societies the most beautiful of humanity’s rights is recognized without contradiction, but was only able to be put in practice one time: equality was nothing but a beautiful and sterile legal fiction. And now that it is called for with an even stronger voice we are answered: be quiet, you wretches! Real equality is nothing but a chimera; be satisfied with conditional equality; you’re all equal before the law. What more do you want, filthy rabble? Legislators, you who hold power, nobility and aristocracy, it is now your turn to listen.

The above text is not Gáunts work, and draws very direct inspiration from Sylvain Marechals Manifesto of Equals. He has however edited it to fit better with GW2 lore. We encourage all to read the original version here:

GW2lfg.com, anyone? By Anaxilea Pendragon

Recently, I've decided to farm the dungeon, Citadel of Flame (CoF), for token rewards, on Path 1. I figured, the quickest and fasted way for me to find a group, for dungeon runs, would be through the gw2lfg.com site.

I've used the site in the past, it's proven to be useful, and the groups that I have encountered seemed relatively friendly. Unfortunately, this time around, for an unknown reason, the general tone and mood of these groups changed.

I self-invited myself to a group, and quickly noticed, that this particular group consisted mostly of warriors and a mesmer. Soon, one of the players in that group began asking the other group member, who like me, was not a warrior class, if they had a warrior alt. This prompted the said group member to quickly re-log on his level 80 warrior. Now, it seemed, I was the "odd man out". I was perplexed by what was happening in this group, as I've never encountered anything like this before. Needless to say, the attention was directed towards me now, as someone in the group announced: "So, if we're going to have all warriors and one mesmer, why is there a ranger in the group?" Without wanting any conflict, and questioning what was happening, I agreed to leave the group and find myself another one. Hopefully, one with manners.

Is Less Always More?

by Orthia

In one of my articles, I interviewed a player who said she was struggling finding, namely, light armour that did not reveal a lot of skin for her female characters. As I've been playing GW2, I came to notice that it is difficult to find armour that appropriately covered a female character and that did not appear too masculine, for 2 out of 3 armour type categories.

Depending on your character's race, the armour will look less or more scantily clad on your female character. If you choose to play as a Human, Norn or Sylvari female, you can expect many of the armour skins to cover your character's body in meager ways. This rule seems to strictly apply to light armour.
