Medium-hard - just join a zerg and tag mobs

Events Completed: 100
Very Easy - as long as you do the daily achievements everyday, you'll reach the quota by the end of the month

Jumping Puzzles Discovered: 30
Easy - all you have to do is reach the entrance of one, not actually complete it. Each unique puzzle discovered by a character counts as one point, so having 5 characters reach one puzzle grants 5 points.
*Verified* The same puzzle can count, as long as you do it after the chest respawn period. As long as you discover the same 1-2 puzzles daily, you will get this by the end of the month.

Fractals Completed: 7
Medium - complete two consecutive levels to complete the seven

So even if we have completed every jump puzzle, we have to do them all over again for this achievement?

Fractals again?  It has been like what?  The third month now?  Who cares about the other dungeons after Fractals.

The Monthly makes A LOT of sense when you think about it. In the January update we'll likely be getting new fractals, new zones with new events and very likely several new jumping puzzles. There's also ofc gonna be updates to WvW. Seems they are encouraging people to try to get into all of the new stuff that is coming.

And to hell with the rest of the game.  Nobody else is doing them anyway since most people are running FOTM day after day for the past 2-3 months.

I assume you mean the dungeons? It's not hard to find a party for any of them... the only one i dont see too often is CoE but I can understand, its a pain in the ass.

And what else would you suggest?
Craft X items?
Throw Y items in Mystic Forge?


The monthly achievement is supposed to "force" people into all parts of the game, but they also have to make sense, having craft X items or throw Y items in the forge does not make much sense, since it is not really an achievement.

But then again, we all know that some people (not naming any of course..) will complain about anything, not matter what they decide to do.

The monthly doesn'y 'force' you to do anything. You don't have to do them to progress through the game in any way. Also, don't forget for the past few weeks most people have been hanging around in LA or atleast another home city, so the monthly jumping puzzple gets people back out there for abit, before new content sends us all off to some other place. And yes there will be people who say its too hard to do that many puzzles, all i can say is your not missing out on anything if you don't do it, although there are 3 jp in LA, one in each start zone, and 1 in EB and the borderlands, so thats a few done already. It really isnt as hard as it sounds.

P.S. Havent done a Fractal after the 5 I did on the first weekend and thus not completed any monthly in the last few months. Its not about being hard or not, its a matter of having fun doing that or not having fun (and thus not doing it anymore).

Btw I heard that I have to do 30 JPs to finish monthly... I think that's way too much Unless my everday EB-JP run counts on every character, that'd mean I can get 5 each day which is not bad.

And actually I'm glad we don't have any "?" in monthly now. We are going to get a big patch this month, so it means instead of giving us more bugged content they'll finally start to improve their old content?

It requires you to open the end chest, so in theory each can be done daily, so just doing the 3 LA ones, the EB one and borderlands one for 6 days and its done.

I went to the entrance of the pirate JP in LA on 2 different characters, got 2 points towards achievement. So far you do not have to complete the JP, open the chest, do a jig or any other random stuff except enter the area it's in.

As the achievement says: "Find the locations of Tyria's Jumping puzzles"  and not complete them

I can confirm what Sheepski said:  Only get to the entrance of the jumping puzzle, you do not have to complete it.  And yes it works on characters that have already done the puzzles.  Do that on all five of your standard slot chars in LA and you are halfway done!

areranet is putting out a really firm message with this monthly achievement. this also means that world completion achievement won't change as well. and i don't disagree (even though some of those achievements are on my least favourite activities; jumping puzzles)

Should just be dungeons in general, I really, really hate fractals.

You do 'get' to do it, you don't 'want' to do it. I really don't see the problem with fractals, theyre not too hard under lvl 20 and they have good drops. I didn't like it either until I found gw2lfg but still, it's not that big a deal.

it doesn't. that's it. this monthly has some pvp aspect; WvW Player Kills: 50. those players who complained about the pvp aspect in world completion will most-likely dislike this monthly achievements.

Every month since launch has had 50 WvW kills as a monthly req

It's only discover. You don't actually need to finish the JP, you just need to locate it.

what really? my mistake then. rofl, haven't paid any attention to this monthly achievements before until last month and finished fractals when i saw it was the only thing missing for completion. i actually hardly do any achievements unless i need materials from it or when i'm close to finishing it anyway.

Virtually all of the achievements in GW2 are boring: swing 10 swords, kill 10 rats, etc. Only the world completion achievement in GW2 offers the same level of variety and interest as the GW1 achievements - guardian, skill hunter, cartographer, vanquisher, master of the north - which required experiencing all of the game content. Even when the achievement in GW2 is to do events, there is no difference between doing all different events or doing the exact same event X times.

So.. why not compare these monthly achievements  to their actual counterpart in GW1?
The Zaishen Quests.

You can't compare two completely different objectives and then claim that one is better. They monthly/daily are much more like the Zaishen Quests than the guardian, skill hunter, cartographer or whatever title in GW1

Funnier still that there ARE explorer, jump puzzle, boss, skillful, dungeon completion etc. achievements in the game. Sure there's a ton of grind based achievements now, but the content exhaustion ones are still there. Only thing lacking is a hard mode.

I do find it strange that there's nothing special in these monthly achievements, usually there is something you can only pull from new content when one is planned. Maybe the jan content update will run too close to the end of the month?
