Considering the current situtation of WvW, adding new maps would be the final blow to that mode. The population is already non-existent, if you spread it into even one more map would be incredibly stupid. What they should do right now, instead of work on new maps, is work on a freakin good reason to play WvW, which atm does not exist.

Things and stuff and /rant

Oh, i guess those are rose colored glasses on your avatar ;)
Its easy to look back on and old game and remember all the good things, forget its flaws, and call out a newer game for not being exactly like your fond memories.

DAoC had its flaws, GW2 has its flaws.   Overall, both were/are very good games in their own rights.
This is GW2s first attempt at WvW/RvR battles as far as i can tell, and i think it was a pretty decent one.  DAoC was Mythic's 2nd (or 3rd depending on how you want to view Darkness Falls 1), so they had time to tweak things, learn from their mistakes and improve.

So, in short, not every game is a carbon copy.  Things change.  Recommend fixes for problems that allow GW2 to be its own thing, and not a copy of DAoC.  Things will hopefully get better.
ANet tried something, didnt get it perfect and will work on improving it.  Thats how things develop.....  (that they worked on PvE first, i dont like....but completely understand)

Oh and half the time i didnt know who was giving me run speed in DAoC either, just a "Bard LFG".

imo WvW needs more smaller objectives and more wide-open fields. This is the only way to spread the zerg out and make longer lasting fights.

we need a hell of a lot more than maps. we need to kill swiftness sharing and commander icons to facilitate 5v5 and small group wvw like DAoC. we need darkness falls, and we need prog.

roaming group v group happened in daoc because of the buff system; only certain people had movement speed and it was only shared within the party. the current implementation of anyone who stands near some guy with swiftness can run with him leads to zerging, as does the whole commander icon nonsense. without commander icons, guilds would have to work together just to make a goddamn zerg, and godforbid, guilds would have a purpose.

you know what created inter-guild relationships? messages that say the keep you claimed is under attack by THIS MANY PEOPLE. that the guild than relayed to other guilds in alliance chat / map chat distress calls.

you know what created on-the-battlefield balance? Darkness falls. the winners get their own dungeon, so they leave the battlefield to go kill the people inside DF. this makes less winners on the battlefield, and the losers get supported by pve-heroes who just got evicted from the dungeon to go take it back.

Prog from warhammer, and areas like it (the pvp-daily areas in Rift) facilitate the creation of pvp "hangouts," where groups of 1 or 2 players go to kill similar sized groups in the open world.

you know what else DAoC had? better maps. the forest in albion was no joke. you couldnt see shit, it was awesome. emain was open field all the time. midguard was cold as shit my saracen never went there, but the point is: diversity created a dynamic experience, cloning BL maps for balance is boring bro.

WTB the 3 way battlefield endgame RvR greatness I've been waiting for forever. GW2 so close but so damn far.

Great Ideas.  I would like to see a fog of war as well so we don't see swords on the map as well.  That encourages nothing but zergs.  The map should just show colors.

What about an actual guild wars map where say two guilds of maybe 100 players each side could do battle. I haven't seen actual guild wars since the days when I played a game called Silkroad Online, which I'm sure no one here has even heard of.

What about alliances so more people can be in a party, say maby 16?
that'd make too much sense, will never happen

I think something that could be cool is if they used the existing world maps they have.  Build keeps/towers/camps and castles in them and rotate each week which racial zones are used and since Asura and Sylvari share the same areas it shouldn't be to hard to get 4 maps per area.  Maybe use their main cities as 'EB', stage it to be for the winners in each tier start off with this and each week and both servers going against them have to invade and take it from them.  That could be a little hard but if you work something out I'm sure it could work.
I wanna see doors to buildings open, I wanna go inside of them and have my enemy follow me.  Needs to feel more like you're in a actual world and not some dead empty space where your only objective is to take keeps etc..
I don't know just some ideas I think are cool.

If they made towers that block roads to keeps/other towers that would give people more incentive to kill eachother imo. More chokepoints, like how the Southeast tower is on the boarderlands, except that they should make that tunnel the only way to get past the tower, and make the tunnel like dip under the tower or something.

Then they should add like a dredge drilling siege weapon, to tunnel from under. OHGOD THE POSSIBILITIES.

This is great having a certain tower or PvE area claimed actually opens a path for that group only. That would encourage a ton of fighting.

I also think the maps should be bigger with greater distance between Objs. That would take more coordination to hold things and create open field battles in the spaces between.

The holidays are done, the devs have nothing on the plate except major expansions (unless they have a slate of things like Lost Shores planned.)

I think WvW maps with different scenery, different spacing, and pacing should be interjected into a rotation.  I like to think it wouldn't be overly hard, but there's always wrinkles when introducing new things.

ANet does need to step up and get this right.  They are running out of time.  I don't mind PvE content but they need to deal with the WvW improvements and feature.  Could care less about SPvP but apparently that feature needs love to.

Would be nice to get a 5th PvE map that was accessed only by doing something in WvW like holding PPT lead for a certain amount of time that had loot comparable to FOTM.

Would at least increase participation until the map was unlocked and would make the points leader a lot more vulnerable due to people reaping rewards of the zone.
