(sorry for posting here but the ideas section always seem to be dead)

These are my ideas that I believe could be adapted to the game, and I've tried to simplify them and made them manageable for anet to tinker with. Please note that this is my personal view of some awesome ideas. Constructive feedback is appreciated and needed, but don't start flaming at me or anything :)

Actual player interaction feels limited in guild wars 2. Except for sending mails, inviting players to a party and doing profession skill combos, there's not really anything you can do except click on a player to view their name and check for world completion. While many are satisfied with how limited player interaction are, I have been feeling that there's something huge missing. I present to you, a few ideas to spice things up:

1. Inspect Character/View Detail.

I don't know about you guys, but GW2 is the very first mmorpg I've played without this functionality. If you want to view another players details, you should be able to! By right-clicking a player within range and choosing this option. Players who doesn't want their info to be showcased will hate this, but that's why this function comes with a "deny inspect" (or something) in the options tab in the game, so you can actually prevent players to inspect you if you don't want them to peek at your characters info. This is a lovely "add" to the game, and I really can't see why not?

2. Player trading.

I haven't played too many mmorpgs, but WoW has this, and Aion has this. Basicly, you right click a player (same as when you want to inspect them) and you click the "trade" option. You get a tab open that interacts with the other player. You can write in how much gold you want to trade, or drag any item you want to send into the few item-slots represented. Both players have to click the agree button, and the player being traded then clicks accept or reject.
Why this, when you can send mail? Mailing might make interaction easier, but I just find "trading" to be better. Dunno why. And again, why not add this because we have mail system? The more options, the better!

3. Battle request.
Right click a player and.... you already know this, so. Basicly, you start a duel with a friend and that friend only. Many games have this function working in cities, and others don't. This is completely up to anet to decide. Do you want to kill some spare time by having a harmless battle with your friend? Or do you want to check how stronger you've become with your new gear? This "add" helps you so you don't HAVE to go to sPvP and face your friend as the enemy. Again, why not? Does it really hurt to add this? It would be so much fun!
The battle ends when either of you gets the other player to 1 hp, when the time limit ends or the players have too great a distance inbetween. So don't worry, you won't die...

I will add more but please discuss these ones first :) I would really like them added in the game!

1.The amount of griefing that feature would cause is limitless."I don't invite you to this PUG if you are not full exotic!",or"Full Berserker gear, kick the noob!!!"etc. Also people disabling the feature would get chastised for doing so.

2.To many scamming issues,plus i hate the trade spamming,maybe others like this feature,i don't.

3.Duels would be awesome!

1; And people will refuse to invite you to a group because you have the "wrong gear" or refuses to show your gear. No thanks

2: And we will have the forums spammed with people shouting about being scammed. You can already trade this way, more or less, by using mail.

3: And we will have the forums spammed with people shouting about how unbalanced the game is because profession x always win over profession y (the game is not balanced around 1v1 so dueling will never be balanced)

Please be reminded that the idea about duels follows this rule: the player needs to accept. It's a mechanic meant to friends, for fun. :)

And yet people will still spam the forums about how "OP this or that profession is" based on those duels.

All three of those ideas are with good intentions, but the way the MMO community is, they can be abused in the worst way. Ultimately they do not foster enough positive to overlook their faults. While I certainly wish there was dueling, I just don't trust the community well enough for it not to be used in worst way.

I've played aion for quite a while, and I don't know about the community differences, but no one seemed to care whether a person had awesome gear or bad gear.
In WoW however, I couldn't even join a dungeon because I didn't have the achievement for it. You could say the same would happen in GW2 if there was a way to link achievements.

It is a risk, but we can't only think about the negative things right? No new mechanics are made through that way. :)

1. This feature would be nice if it only showed the names of the skins so that you could see what somebody is wearing.

2. I am missing trading as well. It would be great to have some alternative way of buying items than the TP. Selling anything expensive is way too painful in the TP, in my opinion. I loved the thrill of finding something that I needed for a cheap price. With the TP you can never get that feeling in the same way since everybody gets the same prices.

3. I've never been a fan of dueling but it could be a nice way of spending time when waiting for a groupmate to come back or something.

Yeah I agree Ardeni. These are very good suggestions I believe. And there's only in the minority that these negative things people have been saying actually do happen, so I'd rather have these systems in the game than not having it at all. A lot of mmorpgs have them and I love it. Being negative about it could be said about any fuction in any game, GW2 too. Adding them might have some negative effects, but it would be very rewarding and good to have them.

I suggest trying LotRO for a great reason as to not add inspection to a game.
More or less every single group requires you to show your gear (and if you have it hidden they won't invite you)

GW1 had only one of these, and the GW1guru were full of people shouting about being scammed and whined about it.

however in aion, and world of warcraft were totally okay with that feature. (not until very very late in wow's age that people started to force others to show gear) And as we all know, skills before stats is what this game is about. So that should be lessened here. I know some people will always require you to, but that's life. Not everything can be 100% fair. Gw2 isn't that either.

Actually..i am against these futures. While i can see the positives, the negatives are way too big. I would rather take that 10% of the palyerbase doesnt get scammed or whined at for not showing their gear then the other ones being happy about something that doesnt really...means much to them.

scamming exists in trading, too. and honestly..mailing is the same. if you want to trade with a friend, then just mail. For me its even faster than normal trading is...and yes, i like that people cant circumvent the TP with trading, it helps establishing a market. On top of this...no friggin trade spams in the cities...

duelling doesnt add any good to this game. its just a future out of boredom or "some" fun. but as this game isnt balanced around 1v1 and pverall duells, this future wouldnt add any good. If you wanna show-off, then join pvp...if you wanna do soemthing while being bored..well get a costume and do some costume brawl...

and gear inspection is just a no-go. Simply ask a person if you wanna know where the gear is from, its not that hard. Inspection does no good, only harm. I have yet to see an argument that gives me a good reason for inspection in a game..

Trading won't happen.  The scamming that people have already mentioned is exactly why ANet forces you to use the TP.   Personally, I don't know how a properly implemented trading interface could be susceptible to scamming, but it obviously happens, as I understand it.  Of course you CAN still get those great deals on the TP.....you just have to beat everyone else out.

In WoW it didn't matter?
Really?

WoW is BUILT around having to run Instance X in order to do Instance Y and so on.
Of course no one without the Instance X gear would get a spot in a Instance Y group.
