a german fansite posted an interview with isaiah cartwright, discussing some upcoming things. i shortened the article as much as possible. do give the full article a read on:
http://gw2.onlinewel...cartwright.html

skill-templates?
not far enough along
-> no

home instance improvement?
we have plans, but not actively working
->no

browser trading post?
no new details
->no

pet battling?
anything is possible, but...
->no

guild hall?
some point in the future
->no

balancing out crafting costs?
free market
->no

bank tab for unfinished crafting goods?
->no

appropriate exploration rewards?
->surprisingly, yes

wvw queue fix?
culling and 'other improvements' come first
->no

wvw queue position?
on the to do list, fun stuff comes first
->no

heroes ascent/GvG?
impossible to develop new features for all game modes in a timely manner
->no

nightcapping?
gw2 is a very global game, don't want to punish oceanic players
->no

tldr;: not much news being announced. with the amount of stuff we know ISN'T coming, we might start speculating what is coming simply by eliminating what isn't :P

Roflmao, an interview of no to nothing, and nothing new. What is it, a call to a random PR who answered the phone, or was a secretary? Always the best this company :angel:

The knee-jerk reaction to this would be a big FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!
It doesn't look good if one says "no" to pretty much everything the interviewer asks for. Especially if one tries to be "funny" and brings up "lore" reasons for not implementing things.

But taking a step back and thinking about what was asked for - I can actually live without the majority of the things asked for here. The game simply has bigger issues than guild capes or home instances. We need guesting and we needed it yesterday, loot needs to be looked at again AND again, classes would need to be reworked, ...
I hope that these are the things that A.Net is working on instead.

Hmm. Not really any questions pertaining to current sPvP, though I did like the answer about GvG/HA. I think most could care less about home instances, capes and bank tabs with hundreds of slots for all unfinished crafting components. I'm actually surprised and relieved they didn't ask about mounts.

i agree with you guys, a lot of the stuff isn't "necessary".

the notable absences are looking for group tool and loot reworking

edit: by which i mean i hope they're in for feb/march :3

I was being sarcastic on the interview, who seems most a secretary on the phone or a random pr answering and they put his name on the interview more than him. ;)

of all the things an interviewer could ask an anet employee about, they waste time asking about pet battles? who give a crap? that guy should go play pokemon and let someone who is more concerned about gw2 ask the questions...

in all fairness, gw1 had polymock and Anet has been talking about pet battles since before it was announced for WoW.

It would have been better to ask what they are actually working on. That interview revealed nothing exciting.

The problem is that without a specific question, they're not going to reveal something they hadn't planned on revealing.

When they're ready to reveal the big stuff, they'll probably do it via the official web site.

The most fruitful questions are typically the "why did you do..." or "why didn't you do..." type of questions, and we got decent answers with regards to why there aren't more PvP modes or why there aren't guild capes, etc.  If you ask some one "hey, are there going to be guild halls?" what can they say other than "It's something we'd consider" or "No" or "Yes, we have definite plans for that some day."

It's entirely possible that there's nothing exciting to talk about, or that if there is something exciting to talk about, Anet already knows when they plan to roll it out and talk about it, and they're not going to let the cat out of the bag early.

Truthfully, aren't we all just eagerly awaiting a preview of the January/February update(s)?

yeah, there isn't much they can reveal. but i was hoping for a little more, since january won't actually be a big update, but the announcement of the big updates in february/march apparently.

What does "appropriate exploration rewards" cover?

I've done 100% exploration, including all the JPs, full explorer of every "zone" (ie Maguuma, Ascalon, etc), and as many of the exploration achievements I could do (dive master is the only one I remember not finishing off-hand).

Will I miss out on these so called "rewards?"

And does anyone else find it out that they're addressing exploration rewards, when no one is complaining about exploration rewards (except for those jerks at 90% legendary completion, just needing gifts of exploration but QQing that it's something other than mindless farming/grinding)?

^---- All of this.

I'll be real curious to see what kind of rewards they mail to us 100% completors.  If we get something along the lines "oh you should just try out the new rewards with alts" i'll be real ticked off.

Eh. I'd like them to do things with the home instance stuff. Story things that affect what's in there. One of the joys of Skies of Arcadia was your HQ island, which had a hell of a lot of customisation. It went from merchants; to content; to even having a giant relief of one of your characters carved into a cliff-face. It was pretty rad.

There are other things that need to be looked at first, such as how gated content is slaughtering the social aspect of the game, and why combat is so utterly awful, but still... this is one of the things that would make it a better game. I'd personally love for them to expand upon the cities, too. The cities are awful, especially when you compare them with the living cities of Everquest II (a many years old game), which are about 80 times as large (no, I'm not joking) and have freaking NPC schedules throughout the entire thing.

I read this interview earlier in the day and was shaking my head at it.
What's with GW2, the more I do in this game the more I feel disappointed?  I was a huge GW1 fan but feel so frustrated with how GW2 is turning out.  The game was all about the community but GW2 has no feedback at all. They need Gaile Grey back IMO.

I am starting to think that ArenaNet should completely stop giving interviews at all. The only thing that happens when they do is loads of people complaining about it after all.

But then again, if they would not do interviews the same people would most likely complain about the lack of "talking to the community".

You can't really blame ArenaNet for what was said in this interview. If you are to blame anyone blame the interviewer that asked the "wrong" questions.

Wondering the same, being a completitionist too, and didn't receive a damn for be a 100% completor. But well, wouldn't surprise me if this kind of reward wasn't at all what the dev answered. Maybe just a couple new more achs, and title at best. It's a reward for Anet, a stupid title over your head, you know?

i think you will miss out on updated rewards. same logic applies on sales, if an item is on sale you don't get to demand your money back if you paid full price outside of a sale.

and i think a lot of people complain about map completion rewards. just yesterday i finished caledon forest with my necromancer. i got 2 level-appropriate rifles, exactly the same 2. it does not seem unreasonable to ask to get something that's at least POSSIBLE to use on your character.

the gating is being looked and, and should be fixed in january update.
disagree on the combat, it's one of the best features in gw2.

What do you want really?
So if in 4 months they increase the tokens you get per dungeon run you will also be mad because you worked harder for fewer tokens?
Or if they add scavenger hunt for legendary pre-cursor you want them to send one back to all the people that already made a legendary weapon or give back the cash people payed for their pre-cursor?

Early adapters get the advantage first, but they also pay the highest price..
