Hello,

So I just finished getting my Guardian to level 80, and I always had in mind to have her purely in a pve roll (outside of spvp at least), as I have other characters I enjoy wvw'ing with.

I want to play my guardian in a support roll, and ideally would prefer to use Shield and Mace + Hammer.

The Shield is a must (I have a Flameseeker Prophecies about to be completed and given to this character) and I was planning on swapping the mace for scepter when the range is required.

I'm just a bit stuck with creating a spec which would allow me to have high survivability, and support in dungeons/(possibly fractals), I'd LIKE to use a 2h hammer as my "DPS" weapon as I've been using a GS from 1-80 pretty much and was always planning on leaving my GS duties to my warrior.

So any advice on gear set/target stats and of course traits would be most useful and much appreciated.

Thanks :)

  • Soldier armor (most easely got from AC dungeon)
  • Soldier runes
  • Sapphire jewels.
  • 0/0/30/30/10 traits (AH being most important)
  • Bring shouts (also bring the shout traits)
  • Use hammer alot
Boom, you have now 3200+ armor and 20k+ health, you also get healed every 3rd auto-attack because you apply protection to anyone within the hammer auto-attack symbol.
Not to mention your passive regen, and all other ways (shouts, combos,...) you apply boons to allies, and heal yourself through AH. :)

Also because soldier armor + soldier runes give a decent amount of power, your attacks will still hit for a nice amount of damage.

Well you asked for a indestructable build this is it. :)

Every 3 attacks you apply protection to allies in the symbol (use bigger symbols for more heals) which heals you, combine this with skill nr2 in the symbol to apply area retaliation, which again heals.
Mace skill nr2 applies regen so heals you, has a block, shield skill4 gives protection,...
Shouts recharge in 24secs and apply multiple boons,...

You are pretty much indestructable, you are supporting your team big time, and your attacks still do a nice amount of damage. :)
Pretty much how I pictured a Guardian in my mind.

For the higher level fractals you are going to be using a different build concentrating on CC.  You aren't going to be taking too many hits.

^This will work, but you could also try 10/30/20/10, since hammer has little benefit from two handed mastery and Signet Recharge can be helpful to get you back into a fight faster.

The signet recharge isn't that needed, you'll almost never need it because of all the healing you get from AH. :)
Thus I prefer the 100 extra toughness.

It's all personal opinion. :)
