Yes, it's safe - I have used it dozens of times on various computers, both "professionally" and for personal use.

It's safe to use, however the usefulness of it from a gpu driver perspective has waned since AMD and Nvidia made their install process a lot better. However, it's still worth running it if you've got problems which wont budge.
