Playing with a ps3 dualshock controller

just got guild wars 2 and I would love to play with my ps3 dualschok controller. i know this is possible but if anyone can help me and give me step by step directions (in detail) in layman's terms on how to install the right program and what not. I know some about computers im not completely in the dark just would appreciate help with this D: I have a brand new HP pavilion sleekbook 14 with Windows 8. Please and Thank you to all who help

You'll need a device driver to use the PS3 controller. As far as I know, the link above should do it.
For controls, check out these threads for ideas.


I use JoyToKey and X-Mouse Button Control with a Dualshock 2. I only use XBMC to toggle right click for the camera. Hold Alt + right click for the menu windows, or you can't use those. The 180 turn doesn't seem to work,* but you can increase your camera rotation speed instead. If either profile doesn't work, you'll need to read the documentation. Google will locate the software for you; both are free.

Profiles: Drop these in the install folder. Open them in a text editor if you're worried about harmful files; they're not.

* The profile linked here contains an error in function mapping for 180 turn, and incorrectly assigns the button to send Numpad 2 instead of ] as intended. I have now changed my controls to attempt to correct it, but it appears that holding down right mouse for camera control disables the ability for a 180 turn.
