The glicko system Anet uses is terrible, a server in T2 has been able to leech 250 glicko off a dead server for 3 weeks now. Wouldn't even be close to t1 if they were fighting 2 actual active servers.

Would suck for BG to work hard to earn Second, to have SoR rob you.  :)

The jump to Tier 1 is bad, but I really like what it happening in Tier 2-3.

Somebody please remind BG that they are supposed to be dead in this match.

They seem to have forgotten, or never got the memo.

  [HB]...I hate you.

  Thank you.

Thank you guys for the fun in SoS bl last night. I hope you guys had as much fun as we did :P We couldnt have done it without LW, who on their own managed to hold of the entire SoS zerg, so that LotD and HB could focus on you guys. Our goal of the night was to push JQ of the map, but we needed SoS to help us and they didnt seem to get the memo. Kudos to you guys for your defense at Bay. Round 2 tonight? ;)

All I can say from the sidelines is, if you guys want to be #1 you are going to have to beat both SoS and JQ at their own game.  You can't expect help from either side, when your goal is to take their ranking.

You have yet to see SoS come back from a week of "vacation," and JQ has fought SoS+W for months.  Best to pad the ranking while SoS recovers...

hard work out there tonight - +ppt pretty evenly matched between the 3 servers. BG definitely the biggest surprise I reckon - you guys are really pushing a supercharged JQ and us on SoS.

Have no idea where this matchup will go.

Dear SoS,

Maybe we have been too long at #1, judging by all this bawling.  TSYM originally came here with the hope of competing (and beating) the best the game has to offer.  They are now lined up across the battlefield from us, all in one place, and all with a mind to take us on a prison date.

For my small group players, solo players, and fair weather players.  YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFRENCE, and guess what, its not on here.  The EUs have brought over some VERY interesting play variances that have changed the game in many ways.  Small 5-10 man teams have never been so relevant, get on it (message me in game for info on this, would be happy to help).

We are facing the best competition this game can offer, and win or lose, this is going to be on hell of a ride!  Literally every guild i have tipped my hat to for their skill and ability with the exception of WM and SFD are now on JQ, giving you the chance to prove you are worthy of the crown.  Win or lose, if that doesn't fire you up, you need to hop on the badwagon.

That, or get off the field and let people who still have the fire get in.

In the words of the great Robert Jordan - “I always say, if you must mount the gallows, give a jest to the crowd, a coin to the hangman, and make the drop with a smile on your lips.”

Respectfully,

Coron, i know that Tsym and EMP have not always seen Eye to eye, nor have SoS and JQ, but i just wanted to give a hearty Amen to this. WvW can be incredibly fun, and it can also be incredibly boring, Which one you experience depends entirely on your mindset going in, and the mindset of the friends you bring with you. JQ is no longer the underdog server, but we were for the longest time, and what keeps a server alive is not just the core guilds who put in long hours, but small groups who bring the pain no matter what the score is.

Good luck on all your recruitment efforts in these last hours.

SoS never saw JQ as an underdog, it was who ever was in 3rd place was the under dog, we always knew JQ had it in them to give up one hell of a run. And this was before all the transfers, that's why if you look at the final scores everything is <20k.

Good luck with your recruitment. I hope the majority aussie guilds enjoying Australia day weekend with BBQ and beach parties come back to GW2 so we can face full strength fight SoS again. :)

I am actually happy with all the recent transfers. Mostly because from all of the recent forum chest-thumping, it looks like JQ expanded their daycare services to include the 10 year olds from all of the other servers combined. And as of tomorrow, will permanently lock them behind paid transfers.

I realize they are not representative of the entire server but they sure do make themselves extremely visible for the rest of us to avoid.

I was also surprised that SoR hasn't received more transfers. They consistently gave SoS a hard time in their matchups and it would seem logical that they would have a great chance to beat them if they received some transfer help in their Oceanic time.

It would've been a great change of pace to have a BG - SoR - SoS matchup. And it looked possible when I saw SBI start to drop to T2. But it looks like they merged with JQ instead, leaving it the last remaining server to belong to what I refer to as the old guard (HoD, NSP, ET, SBI, JQ). I think some more consolidation and change would be good for WvW as a whole.

Looks like no matter how well we do, we're going to be put down into tier 2. It's unfortunate that the system allowed SoR to gain this much rating from SBI, a server that is doing so poorly that they're about to be thrown straight to tier 4.

I can understand the point boost from the first week of beating them, it should have been a less in the second week. But getting 70+ points against a server that hasn't been present in almost a month is ridiculous. Ah well, at least this week will be fun.

As long as Blackgate pushes Sea of Sorrows into third place by a decent margin, you will stay in tier 1. The current mos glicko score (8 pm central time) shows a difference of 1 total rating point between SoS and BG. Don't be surprised if you see Blackgate sticking around and pushing Sea of Sorrows into tier 2.

edit: basically...

BG > SoS; wide margin = SoS in tier 2
BG > SoS; small margin = BG in tier 2
SoS > BG; small margin = BG in tier 2

The Australian Oceanic response across all servers may be a bit lack lustre this week, a couple of IRL issues have popped up...

http://www.abc.net.a...s-south/4486666

225000ish home without power in Queensland, communications cut, and some major storms bearing down on New South Wales.

Good luck to all those in QLD and northern NSW, keep safe until it all blows over.

The only way you are not going to Tier 2 is, if you keep SoS lower in ranking than BG.  At this point in the match-up, you are fighting SoS for Third.

Well SoS is fighting for first as far as I know unless someone has decided differently.

[and at the moment:
SoS +255 SM
BG +250
JQ  +190]

The Goal should be who can rank up the most, in comparison to SoR.

BG is going to earn the most ranking, by allowing SoS the least amount of points.
SoS is only going to gain ranking back if they can beat JQ in total points, because First earns points for consistency.

"BG pushing JQ off the map," may earn BG Tier 2, faster than they can calculate.

It is possible, and would be the most interesting fights, but BG would have to team up with SoS for that to happen (deny JQ points,) which would cause BG to drop ranking even faster.

We are the target from a hour-by-hour perspective; current Ranking leader. SoS is (should be) the target of Tier 1; previous week, Ranking leader.  Both JQ and BG still get more ranking, the less points SoS has.
