Does that mean we'll see new tiers in 2014?
Nope, it means they won't say that they will never ever in the history of the game add a new tier. Because if they do add things in 2014 people will shout about how they promised to never add any new gear as soon as they add something. Therefore they play it safe and simply state that it won't come this year without closing the possibility that it might come sometime down the road.

Though I agree with Pumpkin on page one - I'd definitely love her/his sort of Dynamic System a lot better than what we currently have

Pretty much. But even more important is the announcement that they will release all of the ascended gear, weapons and infusions before the year ends, which means there will be a hell of a lot of stuff to do. Theyll be able to release one gear piece a month on average starting now, how cool is that? By the time 2014 comes around, players will hopefully have had enough time to get used to new gear releases and hopefully have become more accepting of stat progression. I would even go so far as to say that by then, players will start expecting new gear, or stat affecting titles, or what other forms of meaningful progression.

You made a jump from what CJ said to what you said... I hope you realize that what he said didn't mean what you just said... All he said was no new gear this year, like someone already mentioned in this thread that's basically as close as they're willing to get to saying "we're never adding new gear" because IF they decide to put more in December 12, 2014 someone would pull up the dated post that said they were "never" adding more again.

And I don't really think GW2 needs more content that will exclude folks.
Yea because there is so much content that excludes people..

Overall, much better focus. Look to improve the current game so that you have a much better platform to create new content for. Nobody wants to play a game with tons of content if playing the game itself isn't even fun!

And all I'm said is that given the current climate of the game, the release of ascended gear within this year will insistence a lot of players to gear up and get used to doing so. If the wouldn't have mentioned anything about new gear, people would have cried doom and gloom about them introducing more treadmill content. "in 2013 no, but 2014 maybe" means "we'll see how well players have accepted ascended gear by the end of the year and gauge whether the demand for new gear is there". The disclaimer was more than just that. If I took anything a company ever told me at face value, I would be a lot poorer.
Mind you, I'm not for or against anything anymore, but to pretend the chance of seeing new gear in 2014 is less than 50% is just as ignorant as believing they will stop at ascended gear forever.
Now, it going to be interesting to see how and in which quantities they will introduce new gear parts. Theoretically, they could release one new piece each month and top it off with weapons and infusions at Christmas, but I doubt a lot of players would find that interesting. Maybe they mix it up. Gear, gear, infusion tier, melee weapons, gear, gear, and so on.

Why would this be as close to "we're never adding new gear" as they can get?
I mean, they said that they plan to eventually raise max level, so why would this be an obvious no? Especially since they talk of a new system that they plan on implementing after they roll out ascended gear?

It was good to see them showing they haven’t forgotten about guesting. My friends and I have been using the overflow workaround to do dungeons but a full-fledged guesting system would be great.
Another interesting point was:
Quote
Additional rewards in WvW sound fun but I’m a bit more leery about the hint that world event storylines will play a part in WvW. I’ve never cared when MMO content gets overly mixed. It’s too reminiscent of how storylines in other MMO were often tied to large group raids, locking out players from seeing those stories unless they were a certain type of player.
IMO storylines should be one of the pieces of content that should be readily available to all players. No one should be forced to PvP to experience them, and this is coming from someone who loves WvW. ArenaNet made a great choice making Story Mode dungeons easy enough to be done with PUGs. I can only hope that if they do mix story and PvP that they somehow make it so everyone can see it.
It sounds like they’re working on a robust matching matching system which is one of the most important things for arena PvP IMO. I haven’t been doing much sPvP because I’m still leveling characters but it should be fun to see what they do.
But the most important detail I think was this:
Quote
Tutorials and better introduction to the game should have been there at the launch. It’s good to see this lack being addressed.
I’m also really glad to hear a LFG system will be implemented. That is sorely need as well.
Also I must get the Chauncey von Snuffles III minipet.

Smart thing to do would be to start with a new 'tier'/'level'/'sort' of achievement which would reward that, so that every player, new and old alike, are on even foot at the start.
