It's right next to where Colin spoke of the Achievements and dailies, so I would expect it to be similar to the FotM daily where you get X number of tokens for doing 4 out of 6 of the daily achievements.

Those tokens must be hard to get. 75 for a mini-pet? 5 for profession specific gear? By how loot works in the rest of the game these must be like account bound mystic coins that you only get every other day!

Does that mean we'll see new tiers in 2014?

Nope, it means they won't say that they will never ever in the history of the game add a new tier. Because if they do add things in 2014 people will shout about how they promised to never add any new gear as soon as they add something. Therefore they play it safe and simply state that it won't come this year without closing the possibility that it might come sometime down the road.

I doubt those prices are set in stone.

Hopefully we're getting token storage soon since we're getting yet another kind of token to have to carry around.

I'm really, really liking what is written here.  It seems they are learning to understand their own game more, something that is always encouraging to see.

Though I agree with Pumpkin on page one - I'd definitely love her/his sort of Dynamic System a lot better than what we currently have ;)

Pretty much. But even more important is the announcement that they will release all of the ascended gear, weapons and infusions before the year ends, which means there will be a hell of a lot of stuff to do. Theyll be able to release one gear piece a month on average starting now, how cool is that? By the time 2014 comes around, players will hopefully have had enough time to get used to new gear releases and hopefully have become more accepting of stat progression. I would even go so far as to say that by then, players will start expecting new gear, or stat affecting titles, or what other forms of meaningful progression.

You made a jump from what CJ said to what you said... I hope you realize that what he said didn't mean what you just said... All he said was no new gear this year, like someone already mentioned in this thread that's basically as close as they're willing to get to saying "we're never adding new gear" because IF they decide to put more in December 12, 2014 someone would pull up the dated post that said they were "never" adding more again.

The issue is that by making guild-exclusive content, A.Net decided to intentionally exclude these guilds. If you can't get a guild group together, then you can't do this content.
And I don't really think GW2 needs more content that will exclude folks.

Yea because there is so much content that excludes people..

I see no information about changes and balance adjustment for proffesions. Also nothing about changes for personal story or any other meaningful aspect of pve beside some cosmetic achievement filler and possible fixes for dungeons.Maybe I'm under wrong impression but for few months worth of expansion content , it doesnt looks to bright for pve enthusiasts. And what about profession bug fixes?

Bug fixes are never included in content announcements..
What is there for PvE enthusiasts?
  • Open world finally rewards you
  • New badges, titles, achievements,
  • Re-design of bosses/dungeons
  • Improvement on fractals
  • Guild improvement
  • Improve existing zones & DE's
  • Add more live-events
That does seem like quite alot, especially when combined with PvP additions and WvW fixes/updates.

I hope they sneak in many quality of life things in there too! (still can't fathom why I can't WP to LA for free, thereby gating us into traveling to HotM for 2 load screens instead of one)

Overall, much better focus. Look to improve the current game so that you have a much better platform to create new content for. Nobody wants to play a game with tons of content if playing the game itself isn't even fun!

Since many people join large guilds due to the buffs, maybe the guild specific content is made to help smaller guilds get larger amounts of influence, something that large guilds don't need.

But assuming something positive instead of negative is taboo.

Where is the new cool stuff i was hoping for. Nothing new there only little fix that should have been there from the start nothing to get excited about here. The december update made me quit (it was for little kids) but i really thought the january update would bring me back now at least i know i need another MMO for the first half of the year and probably till the expension if not forever since they are more interested in making 1 time event for little kids then to actually make content that will stay or making an endgame because there is no endgame and they dont seem to care.

If they introduce rewards for completing achievments like jumping puzzles, minidungeons, weapon master, explorer, etc, I really hope they make rewards retroactive. Lots of ppl completed all those and would be very angry if reward missed them.

And all I'm said is that given the current climate of the game, the release of ascended gear within this year will insistence a lot of players to gear up and get used to doing so. If the wouldn't have mentioned anything about new gear, people would have cried doom and gloom about them introducing more treadmill content. "in 2013 no, but 2014 maybe" means "we'll see how well players have accepted ascended gear by the end of the year and gauge whether the demand for new gear is there". The disclaimer was more than just that. If I took anything a company ever told me at face value, I would be a lot poorer.

Mind you, I'm not for or against anything anymore, but to pretend the chance of seeing new gear in 2014 is less than 50% is just as ignorant as believing they will stop at ascended gear forever.

Now, it going to be interesting to see how and in which quantities they will introduce new gear parts. Theoretically, they could release one new piece each month and top it off with weapons and infusions at Christmas, but I doubt a lot of players would find that interesting. Maybe they mix it up. Gear, gear, infusion tier, melee weapons, gear, gear, and so on.

Why would this be as close to "we're never adding new gear" as they can get?
I mean, they said that they plan to eventually raise max level, so why would this be an obvious no? Especially since they talk of a new system that they plan on implementing after they roll out ascended gear?

I’m still having more fun in this game than any MMO I’ve ever played and I’m looking forward to seeing what ArenaNet has planned.

It was good to see them showing they haven’t forgotten about guesting.    My friends and I have been using the overflow workaround to do dungeons but a full-fledged guesting system would be great.

Another interesting point was:

Quote

-others see the creation of new content by a guild/s everyone in the world can experience.
Typos aside, that sounds like player (or guild) created content. Community content is always interesting and connecting such content to guilds is an intriguing twist.

Additional rewards in WvW sound fun but I’m a bit more leery about the hint that world event storylines will play a part in WvW.   I’ve never cared when MMO content gets overly mixed.     It’s too reminiscent of how storylines in other MMO were often tied to large group raids, locking out players from seeing those stories unless they were a certain type of player.

IMO storylines should be one of the pieces of content that should be readily available to all players.  No one should be forced to PvP to experience them, and this is coming from someone who loves WvW.  ArenaNet made a great choice making Story Mode dungeons easy enough to be done with PUGs.   I can only hope that if they do mix story and PvP that they somehow make it so everyone can see it.

It sounds like they’re working on a robust matching matching system which is one of the most important things for arena PvP IMO.    I haven’t been doing much sPvP because I’m still leveling characters but it should be fun to see what they do.

But the most important detail I think was this:

Quote

Improving the new player experience, to make it easier for new players to learn how to play GW2, enter the game world, and more quickly learn the game without being overwhelmed.

Tutorials and better introduction to the game should have been there at the launch.  It’s good to see this lack being addressed.

I’m also really glad to hear a LFG system will be implemented.   That is sorely need as well.

Also I must get the Chauncey von Snuffles III minipet.

Smart thing to do would be to start with a new 'tier'/'level'/'sort' of achievement which would reward that, so that every player, new and old alike, are on even foot at the start. :)

This works too, I wouldn't want to miss any reward just because I like achievment hunting and did most of them early. Still, I think for things like all jumping puzzles completed, there should be some sort of cosmetic reward (that breaks 'even foot' rule, unless only new JPs would count).

So is that new reward/prestige system for WvWvW retroactive? I hope the new rewards aren't cosmetic shits nor    better level gear.
