I would love to see more emotes. I know a lot of people, myself included, who'd cheerfully buy them by the pack.

I really miss those days. Hey, maybe we should all go back to GW1 for a day or two and just clown around.

No as it Makes GW as what it is and besides there is lack of socialization

It doesn't have the best top dancers in the game.

Well they should make it a priority!
Seriously though, they try to find the most profitable ways of monetizing things in the gem shop and introduce things like RNG boxes that get massive backlash, when they're sitting on an untouched gold mine in the form of emote packs.

I've said to friends and guildies a few times that a /gangnam emote etc in gem store would rake in the cash.

Where would you do them as being in persistant world where no one would see you.It works well in instanced world because you can only do thme in a town or outpost (persistant). You could ways log in your GW account and do them over there.

Can't tell if trolling or.....

Having to pay for animated emotes is hardly limiting your expression. You do realize you can still type or /me what ever expression you desire, right?

It's not about me, it's about those people who get heavily invested in their characters and/or like to roleplay. And I didn't say it would be limiting; it would be excluding people from an important part of social interaction which, really, is the most important part of an MMO.

On a small personal note it's a little egocentric to think that people with different opinions to you are actually just trying to 'troll', or annoy others.

I use /me all the time.

Sadly.

I often automatically begin to type an emote that was in a game 2 or 3 games back...... and have to switch to /me because the emotes aren't there.

There's a lot of emotes I really miss, like Rift's /facepalm. LotRO had the best /swoon I've seen in an MMO. Still makes me laugh thinking about it.

Yes, I'd love to see more emotes added.

Eventually.

I'll put that on my wish list right after the long list of desired new content.

Once (long list) of content gets added.

Its clear that these will be implemented at some point... many e-motes have a programmed command in the system, but just are not live.  For example, when you type /guitar, nothing happens (nothing at all).  However, if you type /bleebop, you'll get a message saying that that command is unknown.  Thus, it recognizes certain e-motes commands, even though there is no corresponding e-mote in game yet.  I'm sure these will be there in the "near" future, but when is anybody's guess.  In my mind, the lack of these really just points to the game being released before it was really ready (which is the exact opposite of what we were told would happen).

Ever heard of a MUD? they're renown for RP and the entirety of the game is text based. The accusation that Arena Net would be "selling expression" because they are selling special animations is ridiculous, and I legitimately thought for someone to try to make such a claim, there's a good chance they are trolling.
I fully agree that socializing and expression is an important part of the MMO experience, but it is by no means excluding people from an important part of social interaction by limiting access to animated emotes, anyone is perfectly capable of expressing themselves through current in-game means (typing and /me).
Animated emotes are quirky, fun little additions that people enjoy spamming. For the most part, people who are into RP don't make use of them as a primary means of role playing because, in most video game, there just aren't enough to cover the wide spectrum of things they may try to express through them. Thus the common inclusion of /me or equivalent.

As a side note "can't tell if X or just Y" is a well known meme, and I had typed it for it's small humor value. We are on the internet after all.

I miss my /guitar and /drums emotes.  air-instrument rock bands were awesome.

also, profession specific dances were so much better than racial.

101% agree, also male/female emotes should have been different too...

but Hey! they didnt put efforts in making different looking armor sets based on race/gender (they are ALL just restyles, only 10% of the armors are different, the rest are adaptations) why should they do it for emotes?
So sad.

This game is so Beta lol, not even skill's descriptions are correct... in english!!

A character emote is a form of expression; if not then what is it? If these emotes were sold then ANet would be selling the ability to interact with other people through a character, as opposed to text based, medium, which is surely the appeal of modern MMOs over MUDs or chatrooms and why I think the comparison isn't valid. People even say that GW2's endgame is playing dressup =]. Of course people can still type /me, but if people didn't identify visually with their characters in a significant way then some people wouldn't spend hours drafting how their character looks and further hours grinding for armour and weapon sets. I don't think it's ethically right to charge people for the ability to /emote in an mmoRPg, and I don't think it's ridiculous to think in this way. Either everyone should have the same emotes in the game and be creative using /me, or ANet can waste development time on selling a bunch of of kitch, memetic emotes that make the game look tacky and can be easily achieved by using /me anyway.

These are all from past GW1 emotes. They really did build from GW1 surprisingly enough. It's no sign of future plans.

Agreed. There are so many commands we miss! I wanna play the violin whenever somebody whines over a bad group or something like that, just to piss them off XD

Also, regular quests. Events are fine, hearts are meh, but nothing beats being asked specifically to do something for some reward.

Sometimes I remember Anarchy Online ... dozens of dances all on one character!!
Or even WoW .. being able to sit on chairs!

The RP part of GW2 is really rather meagre ..

Definitely disagree.

I'm already starting to get seriously annoyed by the abundance of bikini's, breast amplifiers and underwear on female armour.
