It seems to suffer from the "mesmer-issue". The GW1 mesmer was a fantastically unique class that gave the player one hell of an experience, but PvE was so poorly designed that you might as well just one-shot everything with your assassin instead.

They love the whole concept in spite of any balance issues.

I mean: mesmers GW outfits compared to the average medium GW2 armour .. it's just no comparison.

Misplaced desires to be "unique" aside, it just ended up feeling better than my other characters. Armor fits the human models quite nicely, and gives you a lot of stylish options to choose from. My personal storyline was also humorous and appealing; I like to joke that, as a Noble, I spent more time attending parties and banquets than I did adventuring in the field.
Meanwhile, warrior was just a natural choice for me. The animations are over-the-top and enjoyable to watch (I mean, really... throwing a greatsword like a boomerang? Classic). It's also a class that, by popular opinion, excels in PvE but falls short in PvP - sort of the mirrored opposite of the mesmer. This is the perfect sort of thing for me, since I spend 100% of my time in PvE. Add in the fact that my GW1 main was also a human warrior, and the choice was - as boring as it is on paper - only natural.

I'll eventually do Human Warrior and Sylvari Ranger, but those will get started once my Asuran Elementalist hits level 80. Figure I can level the alts after I get tired of hunting for legendary items.
Then hopefully at some point I'll feel brave enough to enter PvP or WvW to finish getting map completion and the PvP banner and WvW banners for the log in screen maxed out. But those are long term goals and I might try the old run as fast as I can to get the WvW places for her before then.

Between BWE3 and headstart I was dead set on having a necro as a main but I was interested in building towards support. The elementalist gave me that in spades, which explains why I now run it as my main profession...doesn't mean necro is bad, but it didn't give me the support and playstyle I was after. The experience playing as a support elementalist has been very positive in general and I feel useful to the group in dungeon runs.
After leveling and kitting out the elementalist I put quite a bit of effort into mix and matching armor and getting matching dyes for my warrior and guardian, and this was during a time when dye drops were pitiful, so I actually had to buy the dyes off the TP rather than finding them. In both cases I'm happy with the final look as far as plate classes go, but it doesn't beat T3 Asuran cultural light armor which is best described as 'iconic', recognisable and fitting for the race.

I can only give my reason: I don't like the gameplay of the engineer. The same reason I don't like the staff on the necro and the staff on the elementalist. Those AoE thingies you must place are not compatible with my way of playing.

Truth be told I like them all, and never "main" a toon in MMOs. Although my Norn Warrior has been my go to lately for a quick pick up due to its ease of use and utility.

Most likely 'one' thing better. But I suppose I shouldn't try to give arguments about the usefulness of an Engineer, being the least popular and most underrated class is one thing, constantly eating nerfs for no apparent reason is clearly another.
