As for the idea of something like this coming back, hey why not? Though, it sounds like the ideas for the "new" daily achievements will be more a mish-mash of Nick and the Zaishen quests. One thing I don't miss about Nick was grinding for all the stupid trophies every week.

During the Beta they actually had a character that did travel around with her trusty dog. She was based on an actuall person who traveled around the US with her dog. Anet even had her come to there office and play the game before they even went to beta. That's when they showed her her character in the game. Not sure if she is still in the game or where to find her. I'm sure she is still in the game but I would assume she still is.
Has anyone seen her roaming around?

I saw her in the Black Citadel a week or two ago.

I would love to see the old guy back in some form or something like it but i don't see it happening now till its later down the line of the game. It was suppose to keep us to playing GW1 till GW2 came out. XD

If Anet's 'precursor' scavenger hunt turns out to be anything remotely like Nicholas the Traveler and his incessant demands for quantities of obscure crap... I'll punch a dolyak in the face.

I don't really miss the traveler's farm quests but I did really enjoy the character. There's a reason my guardian has Yakkington's armor with Runes of the traveler

They could have it be some kind of fan. Like, someone heard his story and was inspired to follow in his footsteps.

But even more than Nicholas the Traveler, I miss Nicholas Sandford from pre-searing more. Every GW session since about a month after I started, began with me logging on my perma-pre and visiting Nick in the secret graden.

Even though Nick and the prof are long gone, there could be an actual or spiritual descendant. There are many travelling merchants one can meet in Tyria such as Denton and the Chief or the charr with sylvari escort trading guns and booze. Even if ArenaNet don't add a Nick descendant, they could expand upon one or more of the existing merchants and have them move from town to town throughout the whole of Tyria trading different items at each stop. Perhaps even a new escort DE could be started each time they move.
I never grinded for the gifts. Being the magpie/packrat hoarder that am, I almost always had enough of what he wanted to get at least 1 gift. Only a couple of times I didn't have enough for a gift, but I went out anyway to say hi and look around to see if there was anything I missed previously.

Of course he can have descendants too .. I was actually wondering where's all the descendsnts of our old GW heroes, Alesia, Koss, Mhenlo, Cynn and such .. at least I assume the people of Tyria don't grow out of trees like Sylvari?!

There are currently a group of four (or possibly five i cant remember) decendants of henchman that we used to run with in Prophecies in the east part of Divinity Reach. Also I assume as we get more content and expansions we will start to see more about our past friends, and possibly even a hint at the original player character. Oh just remembered another one Jhavi Jorasdottir. Knowing how things happened in the past most of the Ascalonian heroes probably settled in Kryta, only two went to Ebonhawke, we might see decendants from some of the other places, but it seems like lorewise they would have gone back after EOTN to take care of their personal homelands, Mhenlo and Cynn may have gone to Cantha but thats up in the air since Mhenlo was only the temporary headmaster of Shing Jea Monestary so they may have come back. As well Nicholas decendants are probably in Ebonhawke since that is his burial place. One of the things I personally want to find is Devona's Rest, they said all the server names are named after actual places in GW2 you can go to, so hopefully we find it at some point.

So, yes, I do miss Nick and the Yak. Just like I miss Gwen and Kieran and all the other heroes we knew before.
But I don't really want Nick to come back just yet. I'm still trying to get through the main story.

You didn't have to grind for them. You could have just bought them from me.
