Is Stormbluff Isle dying, and if so...

2. I stopped caring about WvW a long time ago so I'm staying.
3. Jade Quarry, they seem to be the perpetually second place server now.

Instead, the WvW guilds buckled down and went to work (key word here, because from this point on it wasn't about having fun any more it was actually turning into a job to keep SBI in Tier 1) they started putting in way to many hours trying to cover all the 24/7 bases. On top of sitting LA spamming the SBI website and Teamspeak and putting out recruiting post every where they could think of. HoD broke up, ET broke up and SBI got a breather and because of the hours being put in actually took 1st place for two weeks.
Then came the Lost Shores/ invite a friend weekend. Again the PvE population disappeared from WvW. But, something different happened this time not as many players started coming back to play WvW. All guilds started noticing a drop in participation, even PvE guilds. Over the next 3 weeks I watched my guild go from 157 actives to a little over 20. Where we could once put 25 people into WvW there were only 3 who played every day. Since I had invited all my friends to participate in the Lost Shores weekend I went back and talked to them to see if they were interested in WvW. The answer I got was not only did they not want to play WvW, they weren't interested in playing GW2 after seeing what a mess it's open world play was with the lag, fighting invisible monsters, unable to rez or get rezzed because no one could see them and all the broken quests. Bottom line is that there are fewer and fewer PvE players to come into WvW to fill the gaps. But, at the same time SBI shows as a FULL server, so it is hard to get any guilds of any size to join from some place else.
Because of the bleed in guild populations it has become a matter of survival lately. Those multigaming guilds have suffered the least because they just went to play something else. WM left for the same reason as the current group of dedicated WvW guilds are leaving. If they staid on SBI they would die. No guild, no matter how dedicated can carry a server without lots of help. It just becomes another job on top of the real life one you already have. Worse part is the 2nd WvW job is non stop 24/7. No matter how good you are you are headed for burn out, which is the antithesis of fun. WM was just the first to recognize this. The only way to keep your players coming back night after night is if the are having fun. Once they stop having fun the bleeding of players begins. Everyone of these guilds need to do what they need to do to survive.
I still consider each of these guys as friends. And, appreciate the ride they gave us on SBI while it lasted. I personally know a lot of them that gave a lot to make it happen. But, as in life nothing lasts for ever. So thanks for the fun and the memories.
As for me, I'll be staying on SBI. Maybe we'll learn to play with reality this time around and just be the PvE server that we have always been. I hope so it will be more fun for everyone concerned in the long run.

I cannot agree more. We are a PvE people server with casual interest in WvW. The dedicated WvW guilds realized this a long time ago but they refused to give up, mostly out of loyalty. Thank you for trying that hard for the last weeks.
What happened today was predictable after the "Lost shores" event and even before that. Noone's fault but ANets.

Though the people who transferred from SBI to SoR this week are the biggest douche bags in history.
You basically made Tier 2 worse by server hopping for fake glory.

Spent the entire time on SBI facing more than we had, even when we were #1 we were always facing larger zergs.
SBI owned WvW when it should of never owned it because we had a better quality only in much smaller guilds/alliances.
It is a FACT, a mostly PvE server owned you all!

Makes for a good story.
But, look on the bright side, you got rid of all those 'loyal' players who will bolt as soon as a server drops in rank.

They were and are loyal players (no quotes). They were here on SBI and made all the efforts (probably too much - they got burned) to keep us up in the ranking. They left when they realized they could not take the (self imposed) pressure to win it anymore. They transferred in a (I hope successful) attempt to keep their interest and fun in WvW alive. That's all.
No hard feelings from me and many SBIers I know. Don't try to stir up drama where there is none.

The fault, in it's entirety, lies with ANet and the inherently flawed design of the game, crippling major WvW communities, and all out wiping others out. With the announcement of the end of free transfers, most of the dedicated WvW SBI guilds have migrated, splintered, or all out disintegrated...it was the final blow knowing if they didn't leave the sinking ship soon they'd end up going down with it...Its a genuinly disappointing feeling to watch the server we put so much of our time, effort, and heart into, rapidly burn down to nothing.
It was a good run, SBI. So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Last night on SBI BL, our commander suddenly said that former SBI guild(which is on SOR now) propose a 20v20 field fighting against us. LMAO you are holding with 40 man around, and we are less than 20 ppl. I really don't know what is the purpose of doing that kind of field fighting. The first feeling is do you want to insult us? I know our numbers can not defeat you, but everyone in SBI still not given up, we are trying our best to hold everything we could. If we lost on a proper battlefield, we won't have any complaints on it. But it doesn't mean that you could insult us on others way. If you win on that kind of field fighting, what would you got? just showing you are superior and all people who still stay on SBI are foolish ever? or you feel pitiful on us, want to give us some sweets and say we are losing beacuse of we are a group of dumb? or if we win would you del your account, get out and don't come back forever?
i am not going to mention that guild here but I hope all former SBI guilds/players. I don't mind you slay me on the battlefield, but please show some respect to the one who still willing fight for SBI.

Sometimes an even fight may be offered for sportsmanship.
It may not have been to insult or humiliate.

Imagine somewhere in the middle age, the professional soldiers from one town have left for the enemy's camp - then they come and challenge the remaining militia that clings to the walls of the city to "fair individual fights" outside. The point being ?

Personally, just means they turned from allies to 'potential loot bags', and vise versa

In a clan in MWO and sometimes we do 3 x 4man groups and try to sync drop. Usually it's 8 vs. 4 + 4pugs or another random 4man group. We just try to kill our friends.

i m from Seafarer's Rest server, the server is still medium population so quee are really short or not existant at all, and ofc we play in Tier 1 from 6 weeks where we achieved the top spot 3 times
rather then this we also have a lot players doing pve so you will get fast party for any dungeon / activity you are willing to do (like Dragons/Shadow Behemoth...etc)
Temples of Gods at Cursed Shore and Melchors Leap often are clear, and lvl 80s areas are always full of player day and night.
We have a strong comunity at www.pevepe.net and a public TS free for all members and their friends.
i would like you and your friends think about joining our server, it may be what you are looking for!
have a great day, bye bye
