Those are however images of the Celestial, which technically don't exist on Tyria.
There are however undead horses in GW1 so I doubt anyone is saying horses have never existed on Tyria.

I always thought that one of the reasons why horses etc were'nt used is that thanks to map travel they were rendered obsolete. We even get an in game quest than mentions it and seems to imply it's nothing special http://wiki.guildwar...Travel_Inventor

While mounts are fun, they do introduce all sorts of design issues for towns and the like. I remember in early days AoC people would park their mammoths across the street leading to huge traffic jams of people trying to get by. Not to mention the infamous Benny Hill Horse clip from AoC. In Wow, mounts just make the towns look like huge parking lots and you lose the atmosphere of the place amoungst all the glowy stuff

Certain streets and paths would need to be changed so that clipping didnt happen, or people didnt look silly trying to get by. Not to mention the jumping puzzle and terrain issues you'd get by allowing them

I'm betting the celestial horse will fall more into the Kirin look much like the celestial dragon looks and is the same size/shape as the Kuunavang mini.

That is of course if GW1 makes it to 2014.

Yes, no more risen!

That backpacks makes me coo all over.

Pretty sure risen wll always be here, as many people haven't completely the personal story yet, and there will always be more players. It's just unfortunate that they effectively made no way of getting rid of risen for the foreseeable future. I personally wouldn't mind seeing a rebuilt Orr...but that'll have to wait for GW3 I'm guessing.

So far we've only seen the northern and western coasts and Arah itself. I could see an environmentally recovered Orr being showcased using the southern and/or eastern parts of the continent.

Rebuilding entirely is probably outside of the scope of the timescale of the game - given how long it took to clear out the Afflicted in GW1, I could see the Risen being able to stay around for quite some time. They're just not going to be engaging in offensive actions without a driving force.

No...  After seeing this image, I don't want it to be a plushie, I want it to be a backpack.   My bear could use some company :D

Gold
Gems
Dungeon Tokens
Karma
Fractal Relic

You should read it better..
It'll be a UI currency, just as karma & gold & gems, so it takes up no bank space.

So, I won't have access to my laurels if I change characters? Meaning if I do my daily on a low lvl char for exp then my laurels are stuck on that char? Seems ashame...

Why assume they are character bound?
It is quite likely that they will be account based in my eyes. Seeing as you can do different parts of the dailies with different characters.

Because I am not able to move karma around character to character. Why would they make it so I can move around the laurels?

Achievement points are account based after all. So is gems. So why assume laurels (that are gained through account based activities) cant?

One of the things I liked about the SWTOR dailies and monthlies is that the term daily was how often they refreshed. Not the amount of time you had to do them in.

E.g your 'daily' could take you a week to do and would'nt reset during that time. Once you did it, it then reset the next day.

Sometimes it feels like a grind to try and get a monthly done by some clock driven deadline.

That because in SWTOR it's how long the refresh cycle was, not how long you needed to do it in :P
Not saying GW2's system is going to be better or worse. Just that it was nice not to have a time pressure to do it. Hopefully the ability to do 4 out of 6 things will help

No, and from reading what they said I think these laurels won't be either.

You won't need bank space for them regardless, they're part of the UI, like gold/karma/gems.

We can move karma jugs from character to character.  I just checked the official gw2 forums and don't see any official info on whether laurels are character bound or account bound.

So much stuff to do in this game, and they keep adding stuff,  I love it :)

Nope, they are adding the 4 out of 6 in a later update. They are only adding the different each day and laurels with this one.

That's besides the point. We already have a multitude of currencies in-game, some of which are overabundant and have very few continuing uses (karma, Dungeon tokens for anything lower than CoF, and fractal relics for those who don't want the capacitor).

Is Anet going to introduce a new currency with every major update? I'm sure there are other things that those developers could have been working on. Such as bug fixes. It seems like they have way too many specialized coders and don't want to fire anyone because their jobs are finished. How about putting them on another team to help out? All of these things intended at release that we're still waiting on, and here we are getting a bunch of NEW crap instead. FIX THE GAME FIRST, ANET!

I agree with this completely. But they did add a ride-able broom in the Halloween update and they said they will likely add more (?). It can be seen as a mount. Just add a speed buff on this while riding and there, you have your mount.

Like I said, I don't want to see proper mount like horses, mammoth, unicorns or whatever, but the brooms could make a useful travel item. The only downside is we're forced to be in town clothes and we can't use it when we're attacked, but otherwise, it's still a fun thing to ride.

People can piddle back and forth regarding if the riding brooms equal a mount, but the fact is that it has been announced to be on sale in the TP.

What the Anet honcho should have said was there will never be flying mounts in Tyria.  The simple reason is that the zones are not fully 3D rendered.  Lots of stuff is only finished when viewed from the ground.  There are plenty of videos out there of people who have wall-climbed higher than the world is designed to accommodate players, and the end result is scenery and world objects that are not complete, only the part that can be seen from the ground is there.

To introduce flying mounts would require a massive redoing of every single map/zone, something I rather doubt they will do at this point.

I happen to like flying mounts, flying is always fun, and combat in the air can be tons of fun.  Anet left them out as it seems they were very hard pressed to ship the game which even now still lacks key features that were originally promised.

It occurred to me today at work that the real answer to the name "Flame &Frost" came from some Anet employee that happens to be a closet Pat Benetar fan. But since she already copyrighted "Fire & Ice" Anet went with Flame and Frost.
