Still no changes to the DEs, combat, WvW, PvP, etc... But Im serious when I say that this thing means A LOT to PvE players: guesting, new content, easy way to aquire Ascended gear, those cool achievement badges, fixes... I may even come back and have some good time after the painful sorrow of the last months.
And, most important of all, Quaggan backpack <3

No I am not thinking about mounts. I simply think that it is a bit weird to use a picture of an animal that have not been seen in the world for over 250 years.

As far as people being upset about new ascended items, are you upset at the possibility of introducing new ring stat combinations or are you upset about infusion possibilities? My understanding is that most of the new additions will be amulets (likley mimicing gear choices we already have) although I do agree if you're going to create recipes for mutually exclusive upgrades which have the ridculous cost involved as the upgraded ascended infusions, it's a lot better to roll them all (infusions) out at the same time to avoid this exact problem. I can understand bringing out different equipment pieces at different times (there's no danger of earning one only to make it redundant later, it doesn't compete with existing or future items), but the upgrades should have all been brought in at the same time. Poor forethought and implementation in my opinion.

All I'm getting at is the PvE fanbase seems to get all the attention whilst everyone else is a second class player who they'll get to at some indefinite time...after they make more PvE content...

So new ascended infusions? The 30+ gold I spent on infusing my current ascended gear left a bad taste in my mouth, I was glad it was at least going to last for a while.
To find out the most optimal combination for my build may now be available really pisses me off. I wish I would have waited! Correction, I wish Anet would have given us a heads up that more changes to our gear was coming down!
I sincerely hope they added the ability to salvage ascended gear to reuse the mats! That would make up for it I would hope. Or here's an early good-bye to half of my savings... again!
Anet haven't you guys learn anything from the flame of the last changes?
hi, i think it wont hurt, as like... 99% of the people uses the ones that worth 75 fractals relics, the new infusions will just add stats, AND TY GOD cause it was plain stupid to pay 250 tier 6 mats for just like a +5 power -.-

Seems like there is consensus now that karma is pretty underwhelming, and we already get that for doing dailies and monthlies.

I guess they want to deter people from farming dynamic events and such for the karma, and they want to encourage people to do the achievements even if they normally don't.
I'm looking forward to the added achievement variety - doing the same 4 every day got annoying.

The achiement rewards will introduce players to new areas in the game and reward you for long time played. Karma is a currency you use lvl 1-80 to gear up your character. Laurels will be more of a endgame type of currency.

So there is really no point to coming back. It doesn't sound like they're adding a lot of new content which is what I want. Instead they're adding different motivations to do the bare bones content that they already have.
Tiz a shame.

There is more or less a rule in RPGs. If you don't want mounts as a mechanic in your game, then horses don't exist.
This isn't a sign that mounts are coming really soon, or even that they would be anything like your usual MMO mounts. But bottom line is horses do not get put into the game world without eventually someone being able to ride them somehow.

And they have stated quite clearly the last month or so that the January update will have rather little content, but build up for bigger releases in February and March.

No mounts, sorry! Regina confirmed it:

There will be no mounts coming with the Flame and Frost story arc.
Also, to address further speculation we've seen about the concept art for Flame and Frost (and what it may portend): there will be no Cantha and no dragons coming with the Flame and Frost story arc, either.
Thank you.

Of course not. And I have never mention anything about mounts being added. I am simply reacting to the fact that they added a horse to an advertisement to a game where the game world have not seen horses for over 250 years.

Very curious to see what exactly they're doing story wise. The title seems to imply Jormag and Primordus, which would be awfully surprising outside of actual expansions, but who knows? That whole "expansion's worth of content" idea has been floating around regarding this new arc of updates...
EDIT: Ah, they did confirm no dragons appearing. Still, it seems plausible that their minions may be the ones causing havoc. We'll see...

I see that kind of complaint all the time, from both PVE and PVP oriented players. One side is all grumpy because the other is getting some attention from the devs, then the other side gets attention and the first is grumpy. It doesn't need to be that way. Both sides get attention, and neither side gets everything fixed. I'm a PVE player, and I think it's great when PVP gets things fixed. I don't see it as taking away from my interests, and don't understand why anyone would think it does. Can you explain why you feel that way? I'd really like to understand.
