To enjoy your personal story, are dungeons required? Or could i enjoy the story w/o them?

The Story Mode of the Dungeons does show us the story of Destiny's Edge, you are also required to do story mode of the Arah dungeon in order to complete the personal story.

The story mode fo Arah is the final personal story step, but you can do it without doing any of the other dungeon story modes. Having said that, Arah story mode won't make any sense for the first 50% if you haven't done the other story modes. The explorable modes of all dungeons have nothing to do with the primary story.

So ideally, do story mode of all dungeons in order before doing Arah, but you don't have to.

You can do without it, but it contains a story related to the main story yes.

Explore mode is definately not "required".

You can finish the whole game only having done the story mode of the Arah dungeon, no dungeon other than that is really required to finish, but doing all the story mode runs does enhance the story leading to the end where some of it may not make much sense not having done the story modes for each.

If my understanding is correct, to enter explorable mode, at least one person (the one who opens the instance) has to have completed story mode. Everyone else is able to join regardless of whether they've completed it, though.

As was said, the sequence of story mode dungeons tells a separate story related to your character's personal story, but it is not required to understand or enjoy yours.

Basically the story dungeon sequence explains how Destiny's Edge reconcile their differences to focus on helping you fight Zhaitan. I don't know if that's really much of a "spoiler" but I like using spoiler tags.
