The mechanics are generally a mess, but horses were a staple of medieval life, as well as most fantasy literature.

Come on now try again and really try to not be ridiculous about it. If PVP is your only gripe against them there is a simple solution to that you know.. you just cant use em in WVW or SPVP. Beyond that its simply providing people more ways to enjoy the game, get around, look flashy (the supposed point of end game right?) and introduce yet another gold sink for the economy.

- Content to strive for in game.
- Looking flashy/unique/bragging rights.
- Move through zones faster and not having to use (relatively expensive) WPs for shorter distances.
Cons:
- Will make the zones seem much smaller (you'd be able to cross a zone in no time).
- The portaling between zones stands out more - you want to go from Straights to Cursed Shore on a mount? Need to take 2 portals to and from Malchors.
- Characters often look crappy on mounts because they don't have an animation that syncs with the mount bobbing/running/walking animations and it takes a lot of time to implement those, especially if each mount has different animations (look at how characters are completely static on WoW mounts).
I'm not for or against it but if they do implement it I hope it's done properly.

Cheaper, but still not any faster, and other arguments/reasons anti-mount ad infinitum et ad nauseum.

Flying mounts are where I draw the line.
Mounts in general aren't so bad as with WP's they wouldn't be needed for anything (as long as you cannot use them in dungeons etc) as obviously instant travel is faster
I would like the collection idea, like minis, and cosmetic: therefore keep the speed the same as swiftness boon.
However flying mounts will make it too easy to get around trivialising all terrain and content within the zones.

Oi, none of that thanks! That's the Welshman's privilege.

It is a massive form of content for some, i swear, if you put a ridable dolyak as a reward for keg brawl, i would have actually played it by now.
But matter of fact is mounts are kind of staple for fantasy in a lot of ways, and some people love collecting them the game can lack a certain charm when they are missing.
I personally just love fighting stuff, But when one game offers an awesome activity you can do with your pets (pet battles) and over 400 of them to collect, as well as 150+ mounts, compared to this which has better combat. I can easily see why she likes to play WoW in her spare time rather than play GW2.

Well yeah Flying Mounts would be too much, at all i didnt meant flying like that. Just like in Aion, it got really nicely made flying system with wings , you cant fly everywhere, only gliding in some places. I agree with you, mounts (neither wings/flying mounts) shouldnt help in things like Vistas, about pois and nodes i dont really care as they are already easily gainable even without mounts.

Developing them needs people, time, efforts from devs
Game has already enought stuff they need to do BEFORE this total superfluous things.

However, considering that GW2 was not developped with this in mind, i'd rather not have new travelling system which would most likely be clunky. Devs currently have more important things to do i think.

But, as mentioned above, the game is lacking in certain, core features - so I'd rather have A.Net focus on that first. The same way that I find it insane to focus on jumping puzzles or new dungeons when the basic combat is lacking, it would be insane to prioritize mounts over that also.

What's next? People wanting wings because their stupid horse keeps getting owned in places like Orr? Some of you must be really bad if waypoint costs are killing you. I can outrun a centaur and so can you!

I agree with this. I'm happy with the game as it is in this respect and I'm fine with the fact that they will never be added (I think the devs have repeatedly stated this), but if done well I wouldn't mind them in the game. I'd be fine with them if a) they were not allowed in cities/settlements, b ) only gave a speed bonus on roads and had no jumping capability, c) are also used for minigames like jousting tourneys or something.

A nice mount to take me places will enhance my game experience.
And horses look pretty.

If one thing makes the world small, it's waypoints, not mounts. Try EVE, even with a 13.5 AU/s interceptor (<3 my Malediction) it still takes ages to get somewhere.

also I don't think people realize that the only thing in guild wars lore resembling a mount is a dolyak. The only thing fitting into lore they could add would be charr vehicles or an asura invention. There are no horses in tyria outside of undead horsemen in gw1, and we don't even see them anymore. There are no flying animals which could be mounts, taking that out of the equation. So, essentially you get a dolyak which would be slower than you currently walk, a big hulking piece of metal with smoke pouring out everywhere, or some silly alien invention. The only one of those that is remotely appealing to me is the charr vehicle, and even then I'd rather just run around in my armor that I took a long time to plan out so I could have something I like to look at for hundreds of hours.
better solution: remove WP costs or make them drastically lower.
