Not if you put them in an invisible bag.  I keep just one of mine invisible to make sure I don't accidentally sell my extra gear I keep on me or food.

You can use it anywhere outside of combat as it's considered town clothes but an, in my opinion, for-the-better-semi-glitch lets you use your normal armour with it. My character coincidently has some resemblance to Colin but it wasn't planned.

I personally want mounts because I just like to get immersed into the game world, but its a bit hard to do when you can teleport to the other side of the world. I'll give ANet credit for at least making it logical that you can do this, though, with the Asura teleportation stones.

Maybe in the future we could get an expansion where a new landmass is discovered (not sure if that's possible with the Guild Wars lore though) and the Asura haven't been able to place travel stones anywhere there yet because it's too dangerous, so people have to travel by mounts to get around the place.

I definitely wouldn't want the mounts to get crazy though. Flying mounts would defeat the point of...well, everything. And riding a giant Drake into battle would just be silly.

A mount generally means WEALTH and so with mounts those players with wealth can go around and being looked at in awe an envy by the poor players who have nothing. Just an added cosmetic effect for the wealthy is all and bragging rights for awhile.
