I currently play on Piken Square EU, tier 3.  It was my server at launch, though I moved for a short while to play with friends on another server.  I chose PS, purely because it was a roleplay server and I hoped to enjoy some rp.

As it stands, I do not roleplay in this game, I can't get into it and find that the thing that really entertains me, is WvW.

My playstyle is either defending towers, escorting Dollys, small skirmishes etc etc, and also going behind the lines in small groups to disrupt and annoy the enemy.

However, PS is now tier 3, and frankly, my chosen playstyle is redundant at this level, the only thing that matters, is how big your zerg is, and how many of them you can field at any one time. There is next to no real strategy, just easily pleased sheep following the blue icons around the map.

Since I would really love PS to lose week in week out, and go into freefall to drop to the middle levels, but i don't see that happening at the moment, I am finding my interest in WvW and therefore the game in general, in massive decline.  So I am thinking of moving to a lower tiered EU server (needs to be English speaking in the main), who still maintain a reasonable WvW populace, but perhaps where the tactics and strategies involved are not based on how much cannon fodder can be thrown into the field.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Don't worry your wish will come true, since we've had an increase of bandwagon guilds join our server we've seen queue times increase sometimes up to 2hours in primetime. This has affected our playstyle as our guilds can no longer group up and play together. This week we are struggling to hold onto 2nd place(and currently we might not even manage that). Most of the original core guilds are annoyed and are now looking for a new home, so expect Piken to freefall shortly as once the guilds that made the server leave it'll just be the useless bandwagoners who don't have a clue how to play. Piken was a nice place to be up til last week now i expect them to nosedive into T6 or lower, depending on how many pugs stay there as the guilds are leaving on the 27th so as to not get everyone join them on the new server.

Piken Square queue times has increased quite a bit, yes... But its not really that bad. The server is still dominated by relativly small guilds that decide the outcome of the battle. Moving to a "lower tier" server probably wouldnt do much. You'd still get the guilds + the already existing zerglings that will rush into WvW with the newly found strenght, same as on Piken. Raise such a server from the depths of the tier and you can be certain it will get more crowded as time pass - paid server transfers stop large guilds, not individuals wanting to join the winning side.

Not to mention the argument of guilds leaving and the server freefalling goes both ways - more glory for the guilds that remain, not to mention shorter queue times ;)

Anyway, without an accurate guild and population list, its hard to give an advice. Gunnars Hold perhaps? I remember on release it was quite English dominated. Currently T8. Or perhaps you want to pick up the pieces of what was believed to be the largest and dominating English/Nordic server on release, Far Shiverpeaks. Its T7. But it has a very high population so maybe not that good. Ruins Of Surmia in T9 maybe?

Gunnars Hold is one that was in my mind, but I really want input from people on the servers in the lower tiers to ascertain exactly the state of WvW at the moment.

No point jumping from Piken to elsewhere if there is still largely a zerg culture in existance.

If I don't get any response, I will most likely just take a break from the game for a month or so, and see if Piken plummets to the depths.  I really have little interest in PVE, so the rest of the game offers me nothing to keep me entertained with any longevity.

Edit: Tricky waiting until 27th in the hope of seeing the bandwagoners leave, not giving me much time to jump ship if they don't.

Reading the Piken Square thread on the official forums makes me tend to beleive that the server is set for freefall, so to me, that's a good thing.  If the server of the month hoppers go, and sadly some old true Piken guilds leave too, then we wont have a queue problem, and we will eventually find our level within a few weeks, hopefully, without being reliant on the mass zergs.

If not, it strikes me as a good idea to actually use the paid transfer system once the dust has settled after the 28th, as it ought to be easier then to judge a server accurately, which is currently an impossible thing to do, who knows who is going where in the next few days?

Come to Gandara. Our commanders don't employ those zerg "tactics" you mentioned that much and defending, building and long sieges still exist and matter. We have open WvW teamspeak with lots of active people as well.

Yeah but... People are cheap. Everyone that leaves will do so before the 28th, rest assured ;)

Meh, it doesnt really matter what happen. If it freefall, it freefall. I will leave when the guild does, that's all I know.
