Been playing for about a week and a half now. So far I have

Mesmer 43
Elementalist 22
Thief 26
Warrior 25
Engineer 21
Ranger Too low to matter

Now my problem comes with the fact that I can't really decide which is for me.

So far I can safely say, I want my character to look awesome. I play anygame like this to look awesome cosmetically.

Second. I prefer ranged combat with the ability to solo well and not hate myself.

Third. They need to be able to look awesome. DAMNIT.

This comes into play when choosing my classes. I played Eng first and loved it, when I got flamethrower I was so happy. But if I wanted to play Path of Neo I'd play freaking path of neo. So many trenchcoats I wanna stab myself in the eye.

Cloth looks nice honestly. I found mesmer awesome fun to play from 1-40, dunno why people say the early levels are hard. I found them easy as pie. But I find mesmer boring at the same time. Summon clones, blow up clones. Dodge until clones come back up. Hate life whenever there is a zerg event up.

Elementalist. I love supporting. I love staff on ele. But damage seems to be falling off. And the D/D skills.. I just don't seem to understand how to play it well.

Warrior. Ugh. ITS SO BORING. Run in with 3, press 2. Eat a bag of chips. Rinse repeat for everything. But its the most effective and I want the most effective build to 80 so I can buy dyes for whatever is my main.

And such, I'm at this crossroad. What do I take with me to 80? Must have nice armors but I also don't wanna hate myself for 79 levels(Cough medium armor cough). And just.. I don't know. This is maybe a minor rant and a minor plea for opinions. Maybe if I have someone else's view on the situation it'd be easier for me to make up my own mind.

10 days for all those chars? u must have played a lot of time!

I'd suggest you to play Guardian :)
It's what i'm going to try now after an ele to lvl 80 (hell fun, hard to master) and a warrior at 20 (which like u said is so damn boring yet effective)

Problem is that the "not-boring" classes are generally less effective, the boring ones are effective

Go sylvari. You'll automatically look awesome :D and the cultural armor looks great.

Edit: also, did you try scepter/dagger elementalist?

I'd suggest you play glas canon staff Elementalist, DMG sure isn't falling off when going full power, precision, crit dmg.
Play this character as my main, using cantrip built.

If you don't like melee and think Warrior is boring then I wouldn't advise going Guardian.
Got mine to lvl 80 but haven't played him since.... way to boring for me!

An other good option would be a Necro....
Necro's look realy awesome IMHO, they use ranged attacks, have big starting health pool and great utility and support skills!
Check out this guide for more info on playing Necro end game: http://lopezirl.com/...rs-guide-to-pve
got to love spreading conditions, Epidemic FTW!

Unfortunately, I have to agree on that.

First, I would suggest to stay away from medium armor, like you said, I just doesn't look good. Light and heavy both have a lot of good looking sets.

Also stay away from Thief, it will get boring after a while. Select your traits to boost the strength of one of your attacks and spam this over and over.

I agree with Chillius, that necro is fun, my main is a necro and I love this class.
But the thing is, you're not the most effective class. Condition necros can only do a lot of damage if there is no other bleeder in your team, otherways you suffer from the bleed cap. Necros are the bets AoE class (some say Ele, but i think necro is better), but your single target damage (like boss fights) is a lot lower.
Also Net has announced to nerf AoE, so until we know how they want to nef it, I wouldn't start a new necro, because this is really the most effective build, so nerfing it means nerfing necro.

If you play a shatter build, which is only one option, but there are others. Play a phantasm build for example, make phantasms, let them attack your opponent and always keep an eye on their health bar. If your opponent is about to kill them, shatter right before they would die.
