Hello everyone,

I was fortunate enough to get a dawn from the mystic toilet the other day. Initially I was planning on holding on to it but I came across this while browsing the news section on the front page.

"We are however working on expanding reward systems to make them more re-rewarding across all parts of the game, making the open world more rewarding, and adding new ways you can earn precursors as rewards via new reward systems taking advantage of our open persistent world.

Some of these additions will come as early as the January release (..)'

Also a lot of buy orders are being filled up/being removed. Is this just speculation or is there news yet? Seeing as its 2 days until the release, should I sell now? (current buy offer is 412g, while there was one for 460g or so recently).

There's a thread one below yours explaining how the scavenger hunt is not top priority for Anet.

So prices of precursors can probably still be manipulated for months to come. Congrats on your mystic toilet drop though!

Precursor prices are quite high at the moment and we don't know, how they will change in the future, so I'd sell.

Also if you sell them now, you have lots of gold and you can spend it on the TP to make more gold.

Anet has said that they are designing a scavenger hunt.  They said it will not be in the jan/feb/march releases.  You probably can hold it for a couple more months to see what happens, unless in the patch notes on monday Anet increases the drop rate from the toilet and supply increases.

Sell it now, If you cannot afford the 50 gold fee then bribe a guild member to lend you some gold in return for a cut of the profit.

Or, you can list it at a sell price of 1c and it will automatically sell to the highest buyer with no fee's.

412g. But you probably through 450g into the toilet.

If you "need" the money (i.e. you don't have 100s upon 100s of gold sitting around) sell it now.

He's not referring to the scavenger hunt but the statement made by ANet (in the OP) that states other ways of obtaining precursors via the new reward system. Nothing more substantial has been said about how this will be done so it can be anyone's guess. With this new laurel system I can only imagine precursors being tradeable for an obscene amount of laurels (THIS IS JUST MY GUESS BASED OFF THEIR STATEMENT).

tl;dr No clue what precursor changes are coming and how it will affect prices. I honestly can't imagine the change drastically plummeting prices though.

My advice is if you are still far away from getting a legendary then sell it and buy other things you need (lodestones, runestones, ectos, etc) but if you're close to legendary then keep it.

Or by "holding on it" you didn't mean you want to make a legendary but to sell it on as high price as possible? I don't know then, however my bet is on that these "new ways of getting precursors" won't change much on its price.

Thanks for the advice people! Decided to sell at a whopping 420g, buy offers are getting filled rapidly so I think I sold at the right time :)

They stated pre-cursors will not be obtainable via the laurel system.

They also said we wouldn't have gear past exotic.

Typical round-Robin hysteria...always brings out the 'end of the world is nigh' crowd who take things from one extreme to the other. Some of you think that precursors via a scavenger hunt or with a new reward system are going to drop like candy. Please, continue the 'end of the world is nigh' mantra....its hilarious every time I see it.

When did they explicitly say that?

Really? I consider myself a very avid GW2 follower and I never saw that video.

Yes, and in my eyes they stayed true to that?

Ascended gear is very easy to get for me, so for me personally the only grind in GW2 is a legendary weapon, which is optional. :)

I don't think that a nice advice, sounds like an exploit/bug. Wouldn't be that a bannable offense?

Don't worry, it doesn't work. Listing it for the merchant price will still deduct TP fee.
