Dear GW2Guru community,

I'm a GW2 player who doesn't know what to do anymore :'( I keep crashing several times an hour (most of the times when I'm using a waypoint or loading a new map) and its driving me insane!

Ive done alot of things trying to fix it: Download a gamebooster program, updated drivers, and renaming my game to "Guild Wars 2 Port Test" (a fix that I read on the official gw2 forums), but nothing is working.

Ive attached a crash report below this text. Can anyone please help me? I would be very very grateful if it can be fixed.

Kind regards,
CocaCobra

A few things come to mind. Check your BIOS settings for the memory make sure the timming and speed is set right. Lower your graphics settings to best performance, make sure no programs are running on the PC except GW2 even cut off your antivirus or set it to only do task when you tell it to.

I was experiencing the same crashes as you during loading, especially in WvWvW or FotM.
I updated and/or roll backed drivers (video card, sound card and ethernet), reset my bios, updated and/or roll backed bios, put all graphic settings on low/medium/high, deleted my local.dat... didn't work so I just redownloaded the whole game again, installed every damn update to DirectX, increased virtual memory, swapped RAM, PSU, videocards, installed faster fans in my case... pretty much everything I can think of.

I didn't have any problems after launch day or even the next 1-2 months after that so I figured I must have corrupted something somewhere. I uninstalled my chipset/raid drivers thinking that must have something to do with it and it totally screwed my RAID array and took Windows with it. I ended up formatting and doing a clean Windows 7 install, installed the same exact drivers I had before, redownloaded the whole game again for the 3rd time... and well it hasn't crashed since.

I'm not sure if it'll work for you or if it's worth the hassle of formatting and starting over but good luck!

Im trying to do a GW2 reinstall now. Hopefully it works, it takes a long time ;\ Thanks for this tip!

BIOS setting? How can I optimise them?

Follow the BIOS reset procedure in the manual, or enter the BIOS and "Load Defaults".

To enter the BIOS(setup), there should be a key to press as the computer boots up - most often DEL or some function key. Check the manual or watch the screen as the computer boots, it should say what key to press. However, if the computer boots with a "Logo" screen instead of the POST screen, you'll have to check the motherboard/computer manual to find out what key to press, or the reset procedure. (While you're in the BIOS, turn off the Logo. )

P.S. I suggest you simply reset or Load Defaults rather than try to optimize anything.
