Attacking stonemist, start seeing half our zerg get wiped from invisible things....then suddenly enemy zerg pops up on screen about 10-20 seconds later....

By that point half our zerg are wiped and we are running away....

Didn't fix anything and tbh it feels worse than before....huge delay between players arriving and actually being visible on your screen.

Even worse with portal bombing.

It's the stupid spell effects that need to be toned down, not phasing out two thirds of the fight. I was in a massive zerg last night in Orr, playing on a high end £2,000 PC and the spell effects caused me to lagg out like * and then crash. ArenaNet need to optimise their game better. What's the point of ''large scale PvP'' if there's no more players on your screen than in a closed sPvP map?

(Edit: They censored out ''*''... Seriously?)

Must not be that great of a computer if it actually lagged and crashed due to special effects in Orr..  I play on a MUCH cheaper machine and have no issues with spells being max.

The culling solution (my solution) hasn't been implemented yet therefore culling is the same as its always been.

I saw more enemies because the asset load time was instant and so stealth didn't have a 3 second delay after wearing off. Still had a few cull bombs drop here and there, but when everyone was just fighting open field, I saw more enemies and less allies. Which is a problem for setting up field combos with PuGs. Had to actually be grouped to ensure I got at least a few behind the circle to fire through.

This is not a fix, nor did they say it would be. They called it a change and laying the 'groundwork' for a full REMOVAL of culling altogether in the comming year. They issue at hand is they designed the game with culling and didn't expect to have the demand to take it out. You don't just flip switches on this or delete code and get a fix. This will take a while.

I suggest, if you find the current state of WvW unacceptable, that you take a break from the game because you are only going to get more and more upset as the future 'changes' roll out and don't 'fix' the issue. You can always come back once the REMOVE culling from the game entirely.

Basically I just don't WvW anymore and that is what alot of players are doing, or I just go with small groups and do hit and runs against camps or towers or small fights.

Until they fix culling zerg vs zerg or small  / medium vs zerg just sucks.

Totally agree. It's something that even if I see a guild doing it on my server, I'll leave that pack and do something else. If I see another server doing it, I grab a few 'zerg busters' that know how to defeat this cheese tactic and we try and teach them a lesson. If it gets real bad, I go PvE.

The biggest issue with culling is the portal exploiting, and for me it seems like an exploit because your using the buggy culling as a way to have an advantage over your enemy team.

Portal bombing is a valid tactic....portal bombing knowing your zerg won't come up on the enemy's screen so they all die without even a single fight.....to me thats an exploit / bug.

Its a valid tactic and got nothing aganst it, I would use it too, just the problem is culling makes it impossible to counter or fight against and is an instant "I WIN" button for the enemy that uses it.

Yup. To me, it's at best cowardly, at worst cheating.

But have hope, we have been countering it for months now. It takes some getting used to but it goes something like this..

If you know they're here somewhere and it's too quiet, look at the ground.

Look for the pink circle. It doesn't cull. It's always there just before the bomb.

Drop all AoE conditions, fears, and boon strippers right on the circle.

And the instant portal bomb killer: Feedback. ANYTHING that sends the enemy's own damage back at them will make this tactic a pile of red bodies. Anything left, if feared and conditioned, will be at 1/10 health and out of player control.

It's a pain, but we can stop it.

I long for the day when we can see it coming though!

Was running today commander would start going invisible every few minutes and this was only with TSym, started building golems and as soon as they were built they turned invisible. Impossible to track your own team. Opposition seems to load in quicker though

I hope you are right, because I can also say that it is now worse for me.

I did not notice much of an improvement in WvW however, pve they made it terrible. I was in Orr a few days ago and players and mobs were not appearing and I was gonna rage at my internet since it is 1 of the fastest you can get in the US. Then I came on here and read a bunch of forums on how culling in pve now sucked. I am not a programmer so I do not know how to fix it, but I dont understand why other mmos I played could load 400+ players. In aion during a fort seige there could be up to 600ppl and I never had this problem.

I don't do a lot of wvw, but since the update that was supposed to start helping with culling, I've actually been having trouble in pve. Several times lately I've been running to a node to harvest, and as soon as I get to that node, the enemies I didn't know were there suddenly appear. I had one moment when I found myself surrounded by 5 raptors, and at level 10 that can become painful. =/ It wasn't any serious loss, just an annoyance, because before this update I had no such problems. Now I'm running into culling in pve...

I've had trouble in Orr as well. I was doing the Grenth event in Cursed Shore a few days ago, and with as many spell effects were going off, half the players on screen would disappear and reappear intermittently. I was getting some terribly low fps as well.
