I have the icon for the world event yet no description of said event. Has it not started yet ? I ran around Wayfarer & Diessa didn't notice anything. Haven't checked the cities either.
I'm assuming it hasn't begun yet ?

It already started in Wayfarer Foothills. It will start later in Diessa Plateau
