Iron Man 3 -- 9/10
The story seemed a bit rushed, but i like the rewrite and twists. HUGE Spoiler! DO NOT OPEN THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE.

The re-write of The Mandarin story was unexpected, however the Mandarin is commonly discribed as "Iron Man's Joker", hes very manipulative and is one of Tony Starks biggest villans. The Extreamist story was already good, im glad they changed Tony not needing it, but now without the Arc reactor in his chest he may need it. I dont know how Pepper is gonna deal with it, but the double twist there was unexpected.

Just saw The Great Gatsby, it was a really good story if you've read the book I gotta say the scenery and everything was just so extravagant.  So final critic, 8/10.

Star Trek Into Darkness: 8/10

I went back and forth about it, but I have to make it a half-spoiler review, because I want to delve in the plot and criticise, so remember to read the second part after watching the film (looking at you pumpkin )



I am a big Star Trek fan, since my childhood. In fact watching Star Trek with my familiy is one of the first memories I have about my life. Seeing Kirk cheesily fighting Klingons and Picard being annoyed by Q, while resting in my mothers arms, those were the days.
When J.J. Abrahams went to give Star Trek a fresh modern make-over in 2009 I was sceptical, and while the movie was better than I expected it still wasn't what I hoped. It had some good action and great visuals, but it wasn't Star Trek. At best it emulated the plots of the lesser Star Trek episodes and movies, but worse, the characters were way off. Kirk was an annoying brat, way more than he should be, Spock was a jerk and Bones hat basically no screen-time.
Into Darkness fixes both of these problems. The plot feels very Star Trek-y, while inducing some modern takes and viewpoints. But more importantly, the characters feel like the ones from the show. Kirk is still arrogant and tries to lay anything that moves, but not more than he did in the series and he is heroic from the beginning. Spock finally manages to show that you can be purely logical and a nice guy at the same time. And Bones, oh god Bones. He finally has something to do, rather than standing in the corner and snark. He was one of the main trio in the show (and my favorite of them), but he felt so ignored in the first Abrahams film. But here he is back at what he is best! Damn it J.J. he is a doctor and not an extra!

But now comes my major complaint about this film. It's a remake of Wrath of Khan. Apparently Abrahams can only make a good Star Trek film, if he copies one of the best. Does he do it better than the original? Well the action and the effects are better, but the conflict isn't. In WoK, Kirk feels old and useless in the beginning, but quickly has to snap out of it, to fight one of his greatest opponents, who would do anything to kill him. And he manages to do this, by outsmarting Khan, which is not an easy task. In ID it's Kirk who wants revenge on Khan, but he doesn't get it. Why? Because Spock is the one who saves the day. It's a complete role reversal. Which on one hand is kind of smart, but it takes away the most famous nemesis battle in Star Trek's history. Kirk and Khan, their fight is legendary, but here it does not exist.
Now you can call me hypocrite because I said making the Mandarin an actor isn't bad, for the sake of the twist, while making Khan, Spock's opponent is. But the thing is, here it's not a good twist. In fact the whole movie is pretty predictable, I even saw the twist with the human torpedos coming. Or that Kirk would be the one to fix the warp core. It was basically just Wrath of Khan with Spock's and Kirk's roles reversed, while Khan wanted to get revenge on someone else than Kirk (thereby weakening the main conflict) and the Genesis sub-plot was replaced by the plot of the episode "The Space Seed" (Khan's first appearance on the show).
Atleast they had a tripple on sick-bay. Gotta love those furry piles of joy (and hunger).

I am a "late blooming" trekkie, been watching all the Star Trek TV series, recently completed Star Trek Enterprise (TV).

I think the flirting between Uhura and Kirk is over doing it. I like it more if they'd stay professional, I can't wait to watch Into Darkness, I have high hopes now that you described it as closer in plot to the original star trek.

Taking Lives(2004)
+ Angelina Jolie actor is still beautiful, sexy and good.
+ generally good actors and there were no actors that I disliked.
+ the lust and passion to kill! Very interesting stuff.
+ Thriller almost scary at some places
+ While not an Action movie this movie sure has some desperate fighting for survival.
+ slightly Mystery and still realistic
+ Hardcore this is not some children's story. Brutal and cruel.
- slightly predictable
-  rewatching this movie has very little value to me since it is NOT based on effects or action. I would only watch this movie again with some friends that would like to see a Mystery/Thriller.
My vote: 7.25/10 good movie!

Star Trek Into Darkness: 7/10

So, did anyone else notice that it is the exact same movie as the first one with a different antagonist? Evil man want's revenge and get's his hands on a big bad super ship that nothing Starfleet has could ever defeat. Big bad ship gets the good guys in a sticky spot but the good guys make friends (of course they had to make Kirk and Spock hate each other again and throw out any character development from the first movie) and manage to come up with a plan... the same plan as last time.

Sneak a small group of people onto the big bad ship while they aren't looking, trick the big meanie into thinking he has won, then blow the big bad ship up from the inside since it is impossible from the outside.

Spock, Mr. Logical wanted to not listen to Khan at all? They capture him, at Spock's suggestion, for trial purposes and Spock is all "Don't listen to the bad man, he is just going to lie to you."

Bah. At least the effects were pretty, but the plot was sickeningly contrived.

Man, I really laid into it there. Makes it seem like I think it was even worse than I rated it. The pros are pretty obvious, those cons just really annoyed me.

9/10. I recommend it to anyone.
