oh....wait...

Yes it's dieing also. Just because it didn't INSTANTLY die doesn't mean they won't shut the servers down some day. It's kind of funny now no one is buying in the market and everyone is trying to sell something. lol Ectos are creeping up @ 9 plat now. The end cometh. ;)

The game isn't dying.

Change your server.

Play the game with people.

All of the other people are on the forums complaining that the game is dying. If those people hopped onto the game and actually played it rather than posting poo all over the place, we'd have a much more active game. As it is now, though - there are LOADS of people playing.

I'm kinda surprised to read on the forums that there are apparently less and less players after coming back after stopping to play for a bit. On Elona Reach there seem to be more than enough people, temples are being announced and almost always open and so on... is it an issue in NA or just certain servers that are deserted?

Nah, the server in question, SBI literally imploded about a week ago. WarMachine dropped to Kaineng, taking their own mass of numbers (which is quite a few people). The main guilds leftover that were also of sizable numbers + WvWers, left thereafter. It was, quite literally, a mass exodus. Same thing happened to HoD and ED but that happened when transfers were free and a while back, so the population had time to re-adjust and new players landed themselves on those servers.

SBI has neither had the time to stabilize or free transfers.

A lot of people swapped servers right before the guesting feature/paid server transfers came in.

I know Jade Quarry, which was one of the popular servers,  has been swamped with an influx of people joining them.  It went from ~15-30 minute queue times to Eternal Battlegrounds to 4-5 hours last weekend.

Just because there may be a lot of people on your server doesn't mean the game isn't dieing. It just means yours will be the last to go like a Tabula Rasa or Auto Assault. You'll wake up one morning and there will be an email to you about the last day of GW2. ;)

The same logical argument can be applied to your argument. Just because there are few people on your server doesn't mean the game is dying either. Argumentum ad ignorantiam. Untill anyone can provide any objective sort of data over the population figures and their decline/rise there is no way to draw a objective conclusion on the current state of the game. The only thing we have to go on at the moment is ArenaNet's recent statement that their concurrent log ins are steadily increasing and that the game has done better and sold more than they expected it would.

Also, as Russell's teapot show us, the burden of proof is on the person making the claim. So if you're gonna claim that the game is DYING, which is a incredibly hyperbolic statement, then please show us the raw objective data you have drawn this conclusion from. Back up your statements and outrageous claims with even an ounce of objective evidence and maybe we can have a serious discussion about this topic.

I'm betting you got nothing though.

Wether you're joking or not, I'll accept the game is dying when ANet announces the closure of the game - which will probably happen at some point in the future - It will happen to all MMOs eventually. Until then I'll leave you with this

But, but every game is dying if its the one the OP is playing and he says so right?  I honestly dont know what folks are talking about when I see this. Our server is busting at the seems so maybe you just need to transfer to a more active server? Oh.. and there is guesting too now so if your really so bored and having no one to play with.. you can always visit other servers to find one you like? So yeah game is doing just fine. There is no reason to believe otherwise. Of course there is never enough people doing WVW or SPVP to satisfy those folks so they will always say the game is dying :)

Guys, the game is doing the opposite of dying.  The player base is growing week by week.  Linky: http://www.pcgamesn....and-cat-potions

I mean, the guy might be lying, but I doubt it.

And another plug for Tarnished Coast!  We Toasters are a lot of fun!

Well personally I'm playing the Path of Exile open beta.  For you guys that liked Diablo 1 & 2, it's more of a sequel than D3 ever was.  Great game and it's free to play too.

If ANet update WvW a bit, I might come back, but as of now I'm on a long break.  Got my monies worth from GW2, it just doesn't have anything to keep me around.

I play it too and I really like it. :)
Also I went back to GW2 which I did not like much at release and I'm mostly playing solo but I start to like it a bit, still confusing to me tho.
There are no people around and very seldom I see a player and when I do usually he's going solo too. GW2 is not a very social game even having a Guild does not help much.
Having a friend to play with is good tho :)

Low demand causes price drops, not increases. When you can't find a buyer you lower the price. When buyers abound, you can raise.

Don't forget lack of supply causing price increases.

xFire only count those that actually play the game and use xFire, which is most likely a rather small minority of the gamers, and most of the xFire-users tend to be those that jump from game to game.

I would say someone that actually have access to the numbers in question is more likely to tell the thruth than a small minority that a third party program collects info from.

Yes, Xfire only counts those who run it, and yes, that's only a small segment of the overall gaming community.

But that's what sampling is.

As for your last claim, that's just speculation born of your own dislike for Xfire, though I can only speculate as to why you don't like it.

By the looks of it, it's the same "over 3 million sold" claim we've seen for awhile now. But they've got to be the first to claim some sort of victory due to the winter break activity spike.

That's exactly why I wouldn't trust the guys who have the actual numbers. They have the most incentive to fudge the numbers. They'd hardly be the first developer to do so. Heck, I've seen big claims like this before, alongside Xfire numbers which suggest the complete opposite is true; funny how Xfire turns out to always be correct in those cases.

It wont let me.  If I just delete all my characters will it let me pick a new server then?  Or will I lose all my banked stuff if theres no characters.

According to Martin Kerstein here:

https://forum-en.gui...rst#post1383490

You can transfer servers for free if you first delete all your characters.  Anything in your account bank should still be there even without characters, though by transfering you will lose all access the guild improvements (like guild storage) due to those being server based.

That is a sign of loss/dying. Months ago it didn't matter what server you were on, except for maybe T7-T8 servers. Whole lot different now.

Same things were said by ppl on hand of freedom somthing or other in SWTOR only server that was heavy always so ppl were shot down saying their server is lacking in population as freedom was "fine"

Like i said in my other post anet shows concurrent users on servers instead of account bounds it would be alot better and save ppl cash for going to "heavy/full" servers only to find the same amount of active ppl.

That's because the game was released months ago...

It's happened with every MMO launch out there. People filter off after about 6 months and that's when you get the real population number. Comparing the populations numbers from a few months ago is completely pointless. The game isn't "dying". A dying game would be Guild Wars 1 - fewer people than ever before with no new content coming to it. Guild Wars 2 is very much alive and growing.

Nope this is not always true. Because of a certain profit a player wants to make he will raise his prices as the population decreases because there are less competitors for him to have to deal with and his prices. Those that still play and want those items will pay it. I've played enough MMO's that have lost a lot of their population to know this for fact.
