Anyone else try out drakes after the bug fix to drakes attacks.
The tail swipe does beastly AoE damage, paired with its breath attack (which seems to connect fairly easy for me, even when target is behind the pet? kind of confused because I saw a lot of complaints on this one) it melts mobs in PvE.
The best part is the tail swipe is a blast finisher, which means awesome in healing spring water field and fire trap field. It is always the first attack the pet uses off of swap, so it is a reliable heal.
Purely awesome stuff. If you have shied away from the drake due to previous bugs I urge you to give the drake another try.
PvP I am still taking wolves though, on demand CC just can't be passed up. Especially since pets rely on it to stay consistent against live targets.

Yea, it's not really changing anything for me, even though I do appreciate the buff.
On a side note, while I understand that ANet is being conservative on their class balance to keep classes balanced, it makes for some really boring patches. I'm getting burnout of this game pretty fast. =S

They've (river and salamander drakes) got the same dps (before traits) as birds now when I test against target dummies, before it was like 13% lower. But drake damage has AoE, and is more front-loaded, so better if you swap more often.
A great pet choice now.

I've almost always had a at least one drake with me unless I needed something specific. They are even better now, great for constant pet swapping between two in DE's. If you reduce cool down and load up on buffs on swap, 2 of these suckers can do a WHOLE lot of damage really fast.

I swap my river and marsh drakes on recharge and blast into my spring.

Yeah I found a lot of success with the drake too. I'm currently using a reef drake and it's beastly with my flame trap. It gets even better with healing spring when I run it in dungeons. I'm finding it fairly predictable as well since it is usually his first strike into combat. I use a lashtail devourer in my other set due to my preference for a tanky pet as back-up that isn't a bear. I find it's ability to burrow away and high toughness really useful. Cheers for a nice buff!
