Maybe you guys already know this, but today, when I finished the bonus fractal, I decided to explore a bit around the spot where the maw is.

The thing is, i fell, hit a rock, died and kept falling, aaaaaaaaall the way down (prolly a 10 second fall) to this mysterious ocean, compelte with islands and stuff. They say my body was above but on my end I was down there.

I wanted to explore the islands a bit more but my party was getting impatient so I couldn't do it.

What do you guys think? new fractals about to come? unused stuff? easter eggs? Is this the jade sea when it was liquid?

This is a bug that's been known for a while - on occasion you won't die after jumping off a ledge in a fractal and will end up in exactly that sort of "sea" as you showed.

It's just an artifact of how map design in GW2 works - the bottom "layer" of any map is always ocean, then there's a flat plan layered on top of it, then the dev team slowly built up various hills and terrain features, building in hitboxes (but missing some!) until the current landscape ingame was finalized.

Due to the nature of the Fractals and how they're designed, of course, the terrain doesn't stretch on forever - and afterwards you get exactly that sea you showed. IIRC the sea is also present on some other fractals, like the colossus.

What you're seeing is just the other fractal areas. Every fractal level is designed into one big map, when you load another "fractal level" you're just being moved to another area of the map, of course it's more complicated than this but that's pretty much it.

What you're seeing there is the dredge level (judging from the design) and the ascalon level to the right.

You just happened to fall into a glitch in the map :-)

Most games and game engines are designed like this. under the map is always water since you make a puddle etc you subtract the level plane
