In low level areas after killing mobs I mostly get items that are worth 30c at the most (90% of the drops), while in high level areas after killing mobs I mostly get items that are worth above 90c (90% of the drops). What it is really unappealing to me in high level areas are things like taking back the temple of grenth, which is most of the time a fail, takes a lot of time, takes a lot of people who know what to do around and for me personally it is unrewarding, unless you think that doing all that should be rewarded with blues and when I'm really lucky with some greens. Never got a rare at Grenth? Nope.
Dragons now - participated in all dragon events and here's what I got : one rare from the Tequatl end chest. That's it and I've been doing them every chance I got in all this time since the release of the game. So no temples or dragons for me, since they are in my experience a big waste of time (as someone said earlier - everything's a waste of time in this game, but at least, when doing Penitent / Shelter I get 2-3g / hour or more, while doing the dragons or taking back the temples 90% of the time "rewards" me with blues / greens).
Lately I've been playing at least one hour / day in low level areas and I can say that beside the gathering nodes, which ofc are low level, I don't feel that things changed much. I still get 2c worth trophees, I still get blues at the best from killing let's say a champion and most of the time I get a worthless blue (by worthless I understand something that's worth 10-30c) and I still have the one shot feeling when killing mobs. But I won't complain about any of those things, because I honestly play in low level areas cause I simply like stuff around and I'm sometimes sick of hearing same old "Death...good..." line. If I want rewards, I'll go farm some high level areas, if I want fun, I'll go in low level areas.
In my opinion, I don't know what they're trying to do, but I know there's really not much of a balance between events / rewards. A massive event that takes so much time and people such as taking back the Temple of Balthazar (from the beginning and up to the last step) should be better rewarded than let's say doing the common Penitent / Shelter farm. I think that's why most of the time on my server Temple of Balthazar is contested - I don't know that many people who are willing to go through all that "pain" for a couple of blues, and everytime they take back the temple, it's because they need shards or that specific karma armor (same thing for the temple of Grenth). I don't like to keep me busy for one hour trying to take back a temple over and over again and after that hour I get a crap end chest with a bunch of blues in it. After doing it so many times and getting that shit, I decided I just shouldn't do that kind of events anymore. Dragons are in the same position. All because I don't mind the time or the effort, but because of the rewards. I wouldn't expect precursor drops or anything too fancy, but blues / greens everytime it's just...unrewarding and not worth of my time.
So I stand by my words : if I want rewards, I play in high level areas, if I want fun, I play in low level areas.
