Hi guys,
I spent 4hrs today farming Karkas.
Got like 24shells/h there.
I used 2 mf boost's (50%-1hr) just to see that it can boost my shell rate and what?
Nothing, i still ended with 24 shells/h.
Im hunting with 91% mf atm, with boost i had 141% and it still didnt helped me.
Any thoughts?

Sample too small too see any real effect.

Magic Find doesn't give you better drops, it gives you a chance at better drops.

MF won't gonna help farming Karka Shell. This is a Fine (Blue) item.

MF will help you gain more rare + item. The best things to farm with MF are lodestones, but that is just my opinion.

So what, MF works only on rare-exo items?

Everytime you kill a monster you roll on a number of tables, inside these tables are different rarity categories. Magic find increases the chances you will get higher categories. For example if there is a 1 in 10 category, and you have 200% magic find you will have 3/10 chances to get that category.

I don't see anything there that might suggest blue items are excluded. By the sounds of it, magic find increases the chance that you'd get a blue item instead of a would-be white item, and so forth.

I agree that 24 karka shells is too small a sample size to determine if a luck-based system like magic find makes any difference in this case.

No.

MF don't change the number of item you gonna get. If modified the chance of getting more blue over white, more green over blue, more rare over green and more exotic over rare.

If you check your stuff, you get really little amount of white. So you won't gonna get a lot more blue item (and Karka shell are blue item).

After that, the MF won't gonna give a really higher chance of getting better quality drop. Its really small. So you better use this MF to find more stuff that sell high. You won't gonna have 25 more blue or green per hours, you probable gonna get 1 or 2 more. That's a small profit. But if you get 1 more charged lodestones, this is a 3+ gold profit. This is why, i said, that you better use your MF gear and stuff when you go after stuff that sell for high price.

Also, your MF gear decrease your DPS. So in the end you better use full dps gear when you farm the majority of your stuff, because you gonna kill more enemies, getting the chance of you looting what you want more often.

MF is mysterious right now, without any solid info from Arenat Net. My 2 rules for now are :

- Use MF gear, when there is only a limited number of enemies, that you gonna kill fast enough even with your MF gear, or when you are with a group that gonna kill the mobs fast enough anyways.
- Use MF gear, when you go after stuff that sell for 1 gold or more per item and that is Green rarity or more.

Maybe i'm gonna realize that these rules are stupid, once Arena Net gonna explain MF for real. But for now, its seem logical for me and seem to work.
