So I was a member of Sinister Swarm on SoR for a year or so and today was kicked for asking for CoF speed runs. They said I was being exclusive, although people advertised for them all the time. Whats the strangest reason you have been kicked from a guild ?

You have been banned for the following reason:
left guild after warning on speed runs in chat.

Date the ban will be lifted: 02-04-2015, 03:00 PM

pretty crappy thing to get banned for, especially if there was no rules made known about it.

I've never been kicked from a guild, although I've left one in GW2 back in september.

Same I have never been kicked from a guild.

I have left a couple because of different reasons, like low active members and things like that.

I used to lead a split US/EU guild. At a guild meeting I raised an issue that a good majority of the US players in the guild were unhappy with the server that we were on. The Europeans said to drop the issue. I asked why, would not get a straight answer, raised a stink about being ignored, and then all of the US players -including me- were kicked.

So yes, apparently looking out for my guild members concerns is grounds for termination. In a guild I founded.

Well to be fair; if you were asking for the typical speed run set up, that'd also imply you were being elitist, and would get irritated with guildies who didn't meet the "required" performance. From that stand point I'd be unhappy as well.

If you were going to take anyone along who has the required skill to run the dungeon outside of 'speed runs' then it's a weird reason to be kicked.

Just to clarify, my friend and I are always making pug groups for cof p1 and p2 and we complete p1 in about 9 mins with any random setup. So it's not the 7/8 min speed runs but who cares about a minute...

Imo, if you want the super efficient speed runs then a guild isn't usually the best place to ask :)

Question, feedback or issue? Pm me!

You are being exclusive if you're asking for speed runs.  Warrior, Guardian, Mesmer.  Only classes allowed on speed runs (from what I've gathered on the forums).  Were there more than warrior, guardiansor mesmers in your guild?  If so, they're now not allowed to do dungeon runs.

So yes, if you're pretty much saying that you don't want anything to do with some of your other guild members, that's a reason to be kicked.

On the subject of the EU/US thing...Were you still a leader at that time?  How could you NOT have known what was going on before then?  To be fair, an issue like that leading to -every single member of a certain nationality- being kicked from the guild does not just pop up over nigh.

I hate all these people saying your being elitist...sorry let me rephrase. It is ridiculous you would get kicked from a guild for doing a speed run. It is something you, I and tons of others enjoy doing. If people in the guild can't go on a speed run because of class or because they don't like doing them then they should just make a regular run instead of getting butt hurt about it.

Granted 99% of the time when I do any dungeon for tokens I take whoever but seriously that is a ridiculous reason to be kicked. At least you can rejoin in a couple of years :D

Craziest reason I got kicked from a guild. I disagreed with the leader about expectations of the game during beta. He kicked me, first member he recruited and left my girlfriend and a few other of my friends in the guild oddly enough. He later quit the game because he was upset about ascended gear being introduced.

That's pretty lame. Why not a warning?

I'd suggest you move one, there are much better guilds to join.

Was only in one guild in all of my GW2 time, one that I helped founding. I'm in the same guild in GW1, since early 2010 and I know some of the other members from another guild, from way back in 2008. So you could say I'm with roughly the same people since almost 5 years now.

Before that, I never was kicked, I usually stayed in guilds until they were disbanded, in other words everyone left, so I left too. I was only kicked once, when I started GW1 in 2005, but I initially lost interest in the game quickly, so I was kicked for not logging in for several weeks. That's it.

WoW guild.
Officer got hacked.
Hacker came in and booted everyone.
Then he paid-transferred the officer's character to some remote Role Playing server... hilarious.

I have left 2 guilds during my on-line lifetime. Both because they ended up feeling very disfunctional, with guild leaders giving preferential treatment to a select few that were "carried" , and that was in a game well before WoW was even in pre-beta marketing.

Been with my current guild (as a guild) for over a dozen years, we've been together for over 20 (including in those two guilds above).

Never been kicked. And never will. I know where they sleep and eat. And who pays their bills. ;)

Seriously, if there were issues, and we have had them, we talk them out.

Your post doesn't mention whether there were stated rules and/or stated values.

If there were, and you went against those, then I could understand them asking you leave. There are consequences.

You also don't mention whether there was a discussion. Or whether this had occurred before.

In joining an organization, any organization, there needs to be a clear understanding of values/rules and a willingness to share/abide by them. On all sides. It would be best if  differences and/or deviations from rules/values are clearly discussed before applying consequences.

Sorry to hear it did not work out with that particular guild. If you are interested in doing speed runs, perhaps when joining the next guild, it would be best to ask up front what their stance on it is, to make sure your desires and their values line up.

Good luck!

.

I've never been kicked, but I've accidentally kicked people from my guild, either trying to send them mail or invite/kick from a party...why is there a confirm button for spending 30 dungeon tokens on rare armor but no confirm for kicking people from a guild?

Also, I wouldn't say that asking for speedruns is really exclusive...if you were saying that you only wanted x, y, and z professions along for the run, then you would be, but if you just wanted people who know the dungeon and can get through it quickly...we did a 10 minute run earlier tonight with three rangers, an engineer, and a warrior. The mes/warrior/guardian setup isn't required for COF, after all.

In GW I got kicked once for advising another member not to play a Paragon in areas where parties are limited to 4 people. Officer said "All professions are equally strong in all areas" and kicked me.

Had a good laugh over that.

I'm guild leader and have been guild leader in either GW game for probably 95% of the time I've been playing(100% for GW2), so I never got kicked.
But one guy did get kicked from my guild for not knowing who Pink Floyd was. It's strange, but fair.

(It wasn't a "serious" kick, and he was back in the guild by the next day or so)

I was kicked because I had an alternate guild with the same tag as a wvw guild on an opposing server. It didn't matter that we were rolling through that server, it didn't matter that when I was in WvW WITH these guild members I was leading charges and destroying everything in sight.

I was re-invited later on but the experience was still soured, and I hardly rep them any more.

About a week after joining a raiding guild in WoW BC, we were doing Kara runs to help gear people up. Generally loot was awarded based on merit and also need. On two occasions during the raid, an item would drop and I'd politely indicate that it was a slight upgrade for me and that I would like it if nobody else needed. In both cases, someone else got the item. I never complained about or brought it up, and nobody said anything negative to me during the raid either.

After the raid I logged out, and the next day I was guildless and had a letter in my in-game mailbox indicating that I came across as a loot whore and wasn't a good fit for the guild...

Only guild I can remember getting kicked from was a WoW guild in Cataclysm. Why I was kicked, I'm not 100% sure, but I was essentially martyred from it.

My guild at the time ran two seperate 10 mans and wanted to get enough players to do 25 man, despite that many of the players in the guild did not want to switch over to a single raid all together (Less loot chance, more competition). I wrote up a post on the forums explaining that there were many in the guild who had discolosed to me that if the guild went to 25 man, people would stop showing up, and some even said they would leave the guild.

The officers told me I was stepping out of line for saying such things, and thought I was threatening them, even though I wanted nothing more than to help the guild thrive (Always brought my A game for every raid and food for everyone). They let me stay in the guild and decided to go ahead and do 25 mans anyway, and on the first night of 25 mans, only 18 people showed up. That same night, even though I was one of the ones who showed up to raid, they kicked me and said to me in a whisper that "Your services will no longer be required".

The funny part is that because they kicked me, people left the guild. I warned them that switching to 25 mans would make people leave, and then they kicked me, so all my friends (about half the guild) left.

The annoying part was it was literally the same day I renewed my subscription. $30 down the drain, I didn't play again after.

As for Guild Wars or GW2? Never been kicked from a guild. Haven't found a good one for me either, though.

Guilds r srs biznesh.

Why?

MMOs need Drama. Guilds bring drama.

I think that's what is lacking in GW2. No drama! And it's an MMO.

Advertising for speed run is something. Advertising for speed run with Mesmer/Warrior full DPS only, this is something else. Everyone can do a speed run, not everybody have one of these three class in full berserker.  BTW, the my fastest CoF path 1 was 7-8min and is was my Elementalist with 2 Necromancer, 1 Ranger and 1 Mesmer. It was me and a friend with 3 pugs.

Pure awesomeness is what! :D

@OP: That's a ridiculous reason to be kicked... Unless you were being rude whilst asking, I don't think simply looking for people to do a speed run is being "elitist". People seem to have become very defensive against elitist jerks (I've dealt with their ilk in WoW myself) and seem to confuse even requests for a more "hardcore" activity like a speedrun to be a sign of elitism. And besides, being a hardcore player does not necessarily make you elitist. Some of the nicest people I've met in MMOs have been pretty hardcore.

Way back in everquest I created a newb guild that invited anyone to primarily help lowbies & with people I grouped with.  The guild was called Sanctus Incendium.  One of the guys I founded the guild with seemed nice to me when we grouped but I didn't know the other 50% of the time he was messing with other players.

I began to notice forum posts directed at that individual and therefore my guild got lumped in with him.  Turns out one of his favorite things to do was have a necro friend charm a specter in Oasis (lvl 10-20 zone & spectres were 50)  and then he (druid) would buff the specter up and leave it along the shore where slaughter would commence.

Another time we had a guild run into the dungeon lguk.  During a dungeon run  you basically sat where a named npc spawned killing it as it spawned ever 30 min or longer for drops.  Well the rare drop came & this guy ninja looted it on his own guild and then ported out.

I blasted him in guild chat & since the newbs looked up to him for his wannabe l33t actions & trash talking they sided against me lol.  I ended up quitting my own guild.  Knowing they'd eventually shoot themselves in the foot I left and distanced myself from them.  The individual would end up getting banned for the oasis thing & the guild got disbanded.

Years later when I was in the resident uber guild as a recruiting officer I had the pleasure of turning down many of the aforementioned newbs from that guild when they wanted to join  :D
