vitalitty -> good against conditions (dmg over time)
defense (toughness on items)  -> good against normal dmg

For PVE -> focus on toughness (f.e. knight items) because it's hard to find boss that use conditions as main dps (easy to dodge anyway)

Best build for fast lvling -> just go full signet build (use 10 points in arms and choose "deep strike" + 10 pints in strength "berserker power" +10 points in discipline "Heightened focus", rest points just put where you want), skills-> healing signet,doylak signet,signet of fury,signet of might,signet of rage (you will need to use only signet of rage ...). Each unused signet will give you just more crit chance with all skills (with that setup it should be around 100% but crit chance will decrease with each level gained). As main weapon use GS + what you like (axe/axe?). I know that it's rly lame build but it's fastest way to achieve lvl 80

Why crit chance would be decrasing by each gained lvl? And once more question, becouse i have another amount in Hero Menu near the critical chance mark (69%), but when i moce cursor on this amount there is an inscription: Chance to deal critical-hit damage 55. Can smb explain me why one of this amound is lower than the other?

At higher character levels, it takes an increased amount of precision to add 1% to the chance of hitting critically:
  • 3.16 points at L20
  • 7.24 points at L40
  • 13.24 points at L60
  • 21 points at L80

% crit chance in hero menu will show you always amount scaled to map lvl (go to low lvl / high lvl map and that amount will change). Description will show you amount on your actual personal lvl.

If you wanna do more dps just use Hoelbrak runes instead of Melandru

If you don't like LB, you can use rifle too (change Arms to crack shot + in tactics tree use immobilize on cripple)

I thought unsuspecting foe worked with attacks causing stuns or happening during the period of a stun only? Not knock downs or knock backs etc. I just checked the wiki and it seems to have changed. It'd make sense if it affected knock backs and downs as well.

It work only with stuns, but it's still enough :) (Hammer burst first will stun ppl and then do dmg, so burst = always crit)

I see no reason to use Dolyak Signet over balanced stance. Stunbreaker + shorter cooldown > some toughness (my opinion, fine if it works for you).

Also: "Tactics tree = they will never escape with such high LB range." I highly doubt that.

After few days of testing Hammer / Longbow build:

Lack of mobility... Even if i manage to win 1vs3 it does not make so much fun compared to full dps build

I tested one more thing... max armor... conclusion? No more tank build... (even with 3800+ armor ppl can burst me without problem.... how?)

The only right path for a warrior -> berserker!

Hi Avliss,
again I made a warrior twink for PvP only. from day 1 I come back to the warrior, and Im surely not a real warrior player but I play pvp all the time with all classes and got 130 Games now with the warri. What build would you recommend for sPvP? I tried both of your new builds but due to the lack of WvW and food buffs I got problems with conditions and like you mentioned mobility. Would be great to hear your assessment.

Warrior sux hard in sPvP (worst class ever...)

Defense tree -> in WvW is really useful but in sPvP it's useless...

Conditions... SIO + mending is not enough. Rune of soldier -> running with max shouts only because it's only way to remove conditions... useless ...

Warrior as support in sPvP ... useless

sPvP / tPvP -> it's team game,with good team setup best build in my opinion (your main job..dps, support role -> leave it to others):

Sadly the warrior does suck in competitive spvp. You notice the huge difference and the easy mode of other classes when you play a mesmer or a thief.

I started using this build since warriors have the best CC, I think:

Just tag along with other members and help them take down players. Bulls charge instead of stomp. Embrace the pain and burst mastery gives you Burst abilities that are always up. 7 sec cooldown. I blow my F1, quickly switch to another weapon and blow my other F1 with the adrenaline build up from weapon swapping etc. The stun's don't have to be long its just the disruptive process that throws people off their game.

You just gotta cycle through the weapons and bursts fast and make sure you spread your CCs..example..two people stomping your budy: mace 3 on one, Burst mace on another, drop a rez flag.

Thieve's, mesmers, eles etc have default stun breakers from weapons etc and they don't have to sacrifice a slot on a crappy ability to get one. They have more trouble breaking from immob and that's what I use. Bull's charge to close the gap, throw bolas on them when they are down. Most people wait for you to blow frenzy to teleport away or they are just slow that way. Immobilize on them is not affected by stun breakers. However, the mesmer teleports and I think the thieve's shadow step helps them teleport away even if you immobilize essentially wasting your immob. It's really a horrible broken pvp system.


You can use it as a bunker with stomp-not as good as other class bunkers, obviously- .


I just think that warriors in spvp -since they are lacking in gap closers- should force the enemy to come to you or you don't give them a reason to get away:
1.Tag along with someone. They close the gaps for you on the target and your the cc helping them hold the target down. Few people can juggle two players especially since this game does not favor skill.
If a team switches to you recognizing that you are a bigger threat -usually happens near the end of the match- but if that happens your tankier with solider/cleric/runes and you got shield 5.
2.Bunker but I use that as a last option.

It focuses on CC + buffin/healin the group. You can switch the banner if you think you will be bunkering. More than one banner is a waste of slot since heals don't stack. Also, you can have the banner up 24/7 for swiftness while moving around.

I'm thinking of using sword/warhorn with the 2nd build since sword burst immobilizes and is harder to get out of than Mace burst. Warhorn gives you the buffs. The condition conversion into boons on the warhorn sucks since it goes for the weakest condition 1st -which is reapplied after right away- instead of the better ones so you don't get protection stability etc, unfortunately.

I was wondering why you still use Sigils of Accuracy and Master Maintenance Oils? Since you no longer rely on crits to proc life-steal, It appears to me you get better Effective Power from Sigils of Force and Sharpening Stones.

I just like to have always around 100% crit chance with my evi :)

Ok i changed few things in my "Nightmare build":

- build: 15/25/0/0/30

I have changed 3 berserker items with knight items + 2 rings from Berserker to Cavalier (power / toughness / crit dmg) + I am using now again melandru runes (more armor)

With that setup we have +300 armor compared to my first "Nightmare build", higher crit dmg -> 90%, way better dps (boon hate) + still high crit chance (~93% with burst skills). Sweet revenge -> nice when you fight 1 vs X

As you see we don't need to put points in defense tree. With that gear setup we have more armor than with full berserker gear with 20 points in def. Additional -33% chill / cripple / immobilize is no needed (food + runes -> -65%, its way enough to deal against condi builds). Balance stance (40 sec cd + we can use it when we want)  > Last Stand from traits (90 sec cd)

Hmm, some nice changes. But don't you think that the Sigils are now kind of overlapping? I mean you know have 5 sec CD on Weapon Swap. So woudn't it be much more useful to change one Sigil?
