The major WvWvW update that was supposed to be released in Feb is postponed till March.

Colin Johanson wrote:

" Hey all, I wanted to quickly give an update on where we stand with upcoming releases for WvW to help give a sense of where we’re at, and set expectations for the coming months. We’re in the midst of finalizing our February release, which I know had been discussed as a potentially large month for WvW additions.
Because of how broad the WvW game type is, and how large testing for features for this area of the game can be we’re going to hold off on any major WvW updates until March to allow a bit more time to test and polish.

March will see the release of the WuvWuv progression system, new ranks you can earn in WvW visible to all other players, and new DubVDub specific abilities/bonuses that you can earn as you rank up. Our team working on WvW will discuss this system in more detail as that date approaches.

Other major systems currently in the works, which will see updates in the future, include:

- Continual work to re-build the way our game loads models and compresses data, to allow for more visible characters/names in WvW in the long run as we build towards removing as much culling as possible from the game.

- Expanding on reasons to be winning in WvW beyond the total weekly score, providing stronger incentives for specific objectives and additional short term goals/rewards for winning minute-to-minute in the WvW maps.

- Providing additional ways for WvW players to earn various power-progression rewards available across the game currently in PvE for participating in WvW content.

- Exploring ways to help get more people playing WvW, as well as dealing with queue issues that come with those inherent issues of player population and demand.

- And of course additional polish and cleanup features to make the general experience in WuvWuv more fun and exciting.

We’ll discuss timelines and more details for the projects for 2013 listed above as they get closer to being finalized and we can safely say we know for sure when they will be released. We’ve recently expanded the staffing on our WvW team to build up and expand this core part of Gw2 even more, and we look forward to sharing with you more details and features in the coming month as this group polishes and grows the WvW experience."

this is called "don`t die donkey, till the green grass". it`s a saying in my country depicting when someone gives false info, and every time it get`s closer is moved little bit more !
Anyway, i`m not too surprised so far they haven`t added anything worth mentioning since start let alone giving us entire Tyria as explorable.

What a surprise. They should have said "When it's done" instead which would mean additional 6 months or a year.

I expressed my frustration with the farce that is this "WvW update" the "month of WvW" is apparently just PvE again, my mistake.

My post got infracted on official for being rude and disrespectful, but it is just because ANet are literal Nazis on their boards and censor anyone who is actually upset with them, IMAGINE THAT!

Sure, it is quite a bit of pure anger and rage, but it doesn't make anything I said less true. The fact ANet deletes anything that disagrees with the norm just further proves to me that they could give a kitten about their players.

Anyway, here it is:

So we get promised, yes, PROMISED huge updates for WvW in February, then they decide that the patch “needs more testing”, but, in all of this, those, blessed PvE updates are still going through. Honestly, ANet, you have got to be kittening kidding me. I played Guild Wars 1 for 4 years after it launched. If it wasn’t for players like me, this game WOULD NOT EXIST. And how do you repay my customer loyalty? You spit on me by making me play a game for 6 months because of the promise of this unknown carrot on a stick, praying every day that you wouldn’t screw us over with badges not being able to buy ascended gear and that when you created these “titles” all of the game time I put in playing WvW wouldn’t be left for naught. Little known fact, most of us that play WvW DO NOT PLAY OTHER PORTIONS OF THE GAME. We got to level 80 and geared our characters and then we never left, but you decide that the only aspect of this game that we want to play is somehow less important than some carebear PvE player’s content because they totally haven’t gotten multiple holiday events, an event with an absurd drop rate of precursors, and a PERMANENT dungeon. Oh, I forgot, we got jack-o-lantern flame rams and Trebs that launched snowballs, A+ development work on WvW right there, champs.

If you think for a second that you have not made WvW second fiddle to PvE content, you are dead wrong and no politically correct statements you make about your “progress” is going to show otherwise. The rest of this game has gotten thousands of hours and repeated patches of work put into it, but WvW has only had you REMOVE entire objectives like orbs from our maps and now you have pushed the WvW updates back, EXCLUSIVELY. Also, it is astonishing that you just now decided to hire more “staff” to your WvW team. Did it take you 6 months post release to figure out that you have yet to release one solid, meaningful addition to WvW and to realize that you need more bodies working on what is supposed to be your ENDGAME? And to think that WvW had 3 whole developers compared to the dozens, no doubt, that you had working on all of that great PvE content. Explain to me, what is the point of even playing in a Borderland? What dynamic PvP happens there when you have no objective to fight for on 3 carbon copy maps?

If you detect a hint of rage or anger in my post then you are kitten right. I play GW2 for the WvW and the WvW alone. I, nor 90% of WvW players give a flying kitten about what PvE content you are adding because our favorite game type, that we love despite your dysfunction, is barely playable.

I pray that you are reading this and take my words to heart, because if you erase the 4.5k badges I’ve made by trumping them with a new WvW currency, decide that my achievements and the 20k kills I’ve gotten in WvW don’t count towards these new titles retroactively, or make it apparent that you are not even going to put in 25% of the effort into WvW that you put into PvE, then you will see players leave this cesspool in literal DROVES.

Heh. Anet closed and locked their own thread on the subject. I guess they got enough "feedback". Hopefully this debacle opens the eyes of some of the decision makers over there. I don't know what they're thinking really, but with the WvW population cap and queue bug issues, they couldn't have chosen a worse time to make an announcement like that. We need a post from Habib or Mike Ferguson right now, not from Colin on some kind of PR mission. We need facts, not spin.

Look no  one likes delays but you cant have it all. You want content released when its ready and as bug free as possible? Well this is what you get. If their saying we need more time to do what we want to do then there ya go. Its going to come out most likely next month so enough with the self entitled bitching already.

People act like they dont want this content out the door...  OF COURSE THEY DO but obviously it needs more work. Big, small, not enough, to much what ever your opinion is, the fact of the matter is your getting regular content updates and game tweaks each month for.. FREE.

I think you are missing the point, though. PvE has gotten multiple huge updates. WvW has literally gotten nothing since launch. 6 months is too much to expect some sort of update? Even a progression system and a vendor for ascended gear would be nice.

It isn't that the patch is buggy and not ready that we are upset, it's that it's been 6 months and they pushed back WvW's updates while sPvP and PvE are still getting theirs. Not to mention the fact that they had 3 developers working on WvW and JUST NOW decided that they need to hire more staff. 3 developers were never meant to actually develop anything new, simply maintain and we saw that they didn't have the resources to even do that. That is why we are mad. A delay is understandable, but in light of everything else we've experienced, ANet is at the end of their rope for WvW players. At this point, it is blatant neglect no matter what spin they put on the story.

zero f**** given.

That list of things they plan to do is what I'd call "too much at once".  I said the same exact thing right before they introduced the stupid Ascended Items & the even stupider Infusion treadmill.  And oh look, I was right, it was so over the top on unwanted stuff that they had to make several spin posts afterwards to address the fallout.  That's what happens when you rush feature-creep with only a month to evaluate it...

Speaking of people we haven't heard from lately, where the f*** is Flannum??  He was the Personification of "When it's Ready".   We need more of that and less of this "OMG WVW IS DYING...." crap that filled up that thread.     SHUTTUP STUPIDS... it "died" 2 weeks after release when everyone realized there was no reason for it and thank god it did otherwise most of us would never have gotten to play the dead version what with all with those 3-4 hour queues that everyone seems to have conveniently forgotten about now...

It's not really that rude or disrespectful at all.  Also I agree, they've spent so much time on releasing PvE stuff and not paying attention to WvW one bit.  Seriously, the holiday events were crap and they should've put that time and effort into a part of the game that's going to be here after the holiday is over.  Also they are so vague on what their plans are it's like dealing with BioWare again.

Yea but from an arenanet perspective those holiday events generate massive revenue via gem store costumes and black lion chest purchases, while also spicing up the game economy in order to stabalize the prices of less wanted items. WvW updates however will only temporarily please about 5% of the games playerbase while also being incredibly hard to implement successfully based on a variety of variables from technological limits (culling) to balance issues (new maps, skills, rewards etc). In any case the developer teams for pve and wvw are different so its not like they are pulling resources from one to progress the other, its just that WvW updates take time, granted there are things that could be done quickly which would help (rewards) but I also dont blame them for being cautious. At the end of the day, I doubt the developers sit there with the intent of delaying updates as much as possible.

Well that is a great explanation for sure and I do agree with most of it but when you say that its separate and one doesn't take away from the other, well there is the point of they are putting more money into other aspects of the game.  They only had 2? devs working on WvW, meanwhile the other parts have way more.  So they are putting money into that part, so I say that it does take away from the WvW aspect because if they focused more resources and money onto it they could be implementing things quicker and testing things out quicker, with better quality control.  I think it comes down to management, like you said they make the most money off holiday and gem store crap.  But I'm sure sure it would please A LOT more than 5%, if you take into consideration all the WvW strictly guilds and how big some of them are. then add in the PvX guilds who have a pretty large amount of players who view WvW as endgame.   I'm sure lots of these people also spend a lot of money on the gem store so if you take all that away I'm sure Anet will feel it big time.

I wouldn't underestimate the WvW community, it was one of the main selling points of the game and if you take to long people will jump ship.  How you recover from that I don't know.

Someone said PVE`rs are getting monthly updates for FREE?

I think this guy does not remember the 60 €/$ that he paid in the first place, and thinks that it is normal to pay a monthly fee for a game. Look I know you got too used to wow, but for your info, the monthly fee is an excuse to ROB you, yes ROB you.

If not you can try and do the math yourself on how much money they earn with "just" the game sales.... poor them they wont have for a second Porsche this year...maybe next with the expansion?

And on topic, in my opinion the developers have really given priority to everything else in the game except WvW, I think it is obvious looking at the updates.

They want to make even more money through the gem store, ok. There is so many more cool things they could put in the store to attract clients: from cool skins for items and races to cool sounds to more vanity items... the limit is just their creativity.

Imo they dont need seasonal events to do this, and they could allocate the resources spent in such events to other more pressuring gaming issues in their game and particularly in WvW.

The thing is if they really have had separate teams of developers, one for WvW included, as stated on above posts... wow has the WvW team been slaking! They didnt pull out any single content update in 6 months!

My understanding is there were 3 developers. They had to pull from other sections just to fix some problems, shottily at that.

I get the feeling ESO won't satisy the ex-daoc'ers, and is more geared towards fans of the single player games.

camelot unchained has the best shot at capturing all of the former daoc players, myself included.

i don't have much faith in Arenanet overhauling WvW to match up with daoc's open relic system...but let's see what they bring to the table.

Even thought they said that RvR is the main aspect of the game.  This game is an MMO, which means it's designed to be played with other people.  If they wanted a single player game they'd just release another single player, or another expansion for Skyrim.

Honestly, just go play your game and I'll play mine. I knew what implications I made in my post, it is not surprising that they deleted it, but it is upsetting that they did. A very large portion of the community feels genuinely disrespected like I do. Just because you may not feel passionate about the subject gives you no grounds to talk down to me.

Sarcasm and anger don't work very well on a forum, you should simply know this by now.

I don't think there are as many as passionate about WvW and its content as me  (veretta btw) and you of all people should know this.

But I am realistic about Anet and I am happy with the direction of the game and how they release their content. All I personally would love to see that would make this an even more amazing experience is self created chat channels, guildmember dots on the minimap, group boon priority, the ability to mark, better handling of culling and a bit more tweaks to classes.

Adding way more content to WvW could create a negative effect, I just want them to release their content when they feel there is a need for it... And like I said, there isn't really too much needed right now besides so small things and fixes.
