Hey guys,

I understand that this topic might not be something of vital importance to most people, but to some players, an important aspect of any MMO is the fashion of the game.

We all know that the cultural wear is not only pricey (overly priced in my opinion) I can't' shake the fact that my Engineer is running around with blades on my boots, mesh tights, and under boob  This does not fit with an engineer style since well you know they carry guns and explosives. (I do like the under boob, just  sayin')

My point is, if we strive to buy this overly priced skin, why not make it profession based to better fit our characters while providing some uniqueness among players.

It  would it be so awesome see so many unique cultural wear based off of an elementalist, mesmer, necromancer, engineer,warrior, ranger, and guardian.

If this topic has been discussed before, I apologize, I just wanted to hear what other players thought about this.

I think that any armor set you're willing to pay 119 gold for should definitely be as unique and player-pleasing as possible, so you make a good point.

It seems like a reasonable suggestion. They seem to be adding new artwork to the game from time to time. But as to whether they would actually go so far as to make profession-specific cultural armor...only time will tell. Something tells me it is unlikely to occur. When it comes to aesthetics I believe there's no such thing as 'one size fits all'. I also believe that cultural armor is not necessarily the most aesthetically pleasing thing to buy on every single toon, even if I could afford it. Hence we have the option to mix and match armor from various sets to achieve the look we like best.

What we like though, is not necessarily everyone's cup of tea. So even if they went ahead and made profession specific armor, not everyone is going to be happy with it.

I'd say yes to more armour styles but no to profession based gear.

It's good to be able to choose what you want out of all the styles rather than wear what is deemed suitable for your profession.

I do want more profession specific armor so not every Light class can wear it. I want to notice my Ele bros in the mass. Same goes for  other professions too.

EDIT: I do hope they make Legendary armor truely LEGENDARY! Meaning requiring Profession and Race to wear it.But mostly Profession!

I do understand that people would want this. But we have to keep in mind the rather big amount of work and resources this would require.

For every single set of armor you would need to get 10 different versions. That is 80 new armor sets for just a single specific armor per profession.

I'm yes and no on this one. It would be nice for profession based armors, instead of heading the "adventurer" armors under one umberella, as it encompasses thieves, rangers, and engineers, which imo are the most different in one armor category.

However, that being said, Named and Assassin's armor sets are the only ones I'd want for my thief, and I'm not too fussed that they're overly pricey. Similarly, I think the T3 Heavy Human looks good, but I don't think a charr should be wandering round in Seraph armor.

Maybe I'm doing my math wrong, but wouldn't it just be 8?  Necro can only where light armor, so they only have to design one Necro set.  Same with the other 7 professions.  What am I missing?

On topic though, I'm torn.  I love being able to where any type of armor in the weight class, but I do miss being able to tell a Necro from an Ele from a Mesmer at a glance like in GW1.  I do think there needs to be more variety, because medium armor is just uninspiring to me.  I made my Engineer as an asuran, because they're so tiny I wouldn't really be able to see the armor anyway.  Granted, I know this is just purely personal preference.  Individual armor tastes vary like snowflakes.

The fact that all races require different models (5 races) and each race have 2 sexes, all of these have somewhat different armors.

Well, not really. With Asura the armor is largely the same regardless.
