Once the hole gets filled, we'll get our festival.
We just need a lot of elementalists to do the job..

If you look at the Canthan tengu in GW1, they did not exactly mimic the architecture, dress, names, and other cultural elements of the Dragon Empire human civilization. Why would they suddenly decide to replicate such things after leaving Cantha? The Wall looks to me more like something you would see in India rather than China, Japan, or Korea. What's behind it is probably even further divorced from East Asian themes. I don't think the tengu are going to be a problem for ANet.

Or just make Cantha distinctly Korean inspired as a nod to NCSoft.
I'm not aware of the cultural issues here. Would picking just one to model the GW2 Cantha after be a problem with selling the game in other countries? Korean-made games are popular throughout Asia, right?

If I had to wager a guess, it's that NCSoft didn't want to cannibalise Blade & Soul with two MMOs having overlapping themes.
That, or it's to reduce interference during the Chinese launch.
it's probably a little of both, but definitely this.
Tapping Asia comes with 1000 shards of glass that NCsoft will make Anet walk over making sure everything is ... 'Kosher'.
I'm positive we'll see Cantha, but it won't be till GW2 is being played in the Orient.

Except for the simple fact that there was a known canthan district in Divinity's Reach which is currently a hole. a big bottomless pit with no story around it. hardly a single mention of Cantha or the people who lived there...just "The Collapse" in-game. Not a single character in the game with even remotely an oriental style, name or demeanor besides the very sparse Tengu.
Why completely remove something that already existed if not for pressure from those cultures?

with Cantha being a completely different continent, i would expect it would end up on a completely different screen.
but, with so many areas of tyria still not being explorable yet (the desert? ring of fire? northern northern shiverpeaks? etc.), I doubt we will be seeing Cantha anytime soon, if at all...

true, if you look at the map as it is now, there's no cantha. you have tarnished coast, maguuma falls, maguuma waste, etc ... nothing close resembling cantha
Or Elona, doesn't mean they won't put it in. (ok you see a little bit in the Crystal desert, but barely a fraction).
