Hello everyone,

I just reached 80lvl in Guild Wars 2 with my main character, class: mesmer. I really enjoyed PVE and PVP, all the content. Specially mesmer class, it suited me so well. All those tricks to escape, feel of control. I really liked mechanics of how it works. I will play it for sure, but want to try something else and create my second character, still have lots of unexplored zones. So need a suggestion.

I am not playing in gruops usually, because i am not playing very often. Usually twice a week, after work, something like that. And play with different people all the time and not get to chance to know them is not fun for me, so i choose to solo

I like to PVE and PVP but i rather be stronger in PVP than PVE. I didn't had any problems with mesmer in PVE, well they are a bit slow, but i had no problems at all. So PVP > PVE and mesmers are crazy in PVP, super fun.

I am more like selfish player, never playing support role. I just don't like it. And playing solo for most of the time so

Looking for a class which makes you feel like you are in control and no matter what you can survive.

Maybe someone have feeling what class should i pick? Thanks.

Once you get the hang of the mesmer's real potential through experimenting, exploring builds and traits, you'll never want to play something else. At least that's how it is for me.

If you want to try another class, maybe you'll like necro (a WOW-effect on pvp/wvw, when suddenly all the boons are corrupted and you spread the conditions with epidemic as an aoe)

You can also maybe play thief. With its stealth and escape techniques it's fun to play. But please do yourself the favor and don't play a regular glasscannon with backstab in pvp like so many thieves. it has much more potential

Well I guess you already have the pinnacle of that, so whatever you pick you are going to down-trade.

I don't know... Warrior or thief probably considering you want strong but independent, survival against all odds would be the guardians domain.

I just want to feel different experience. I am not looking what is best, just trying to take more from the game.

I am aware of that, but still going to try something. As i said, want to explore all the world. And i like chellenge, really don't like simple classes. Thinking about elementalist or engineer. Maybe thief, but they are not very good in dungeons, and i did not tried any. So want to try them.

Well, there's nothing more selfish than a thief to be honest, and it has more escape and acrobatics options.

And if I may suggest, an asura has great animations uniquely apt for the thief.

Other than thief, you may want to take a warrior, but they are the most boring class.

Engineer and Elementalist are team players though, not saying that you can't solo with them but they excel at supporting other classes.

"No matter what, you can survive" is most certainly not the catchphrase of the Elementalist, but since you have good experience of dodging from your Mesmer it could work.

Tbh I don't PVP at all so I have no idea what would be in high demand there, though I'm fairly sure Thieves are borderline broken in PVP.

Well as i see mesmer suites me best. Anyway, i will change my priority list:

1. Fun to play (not booring)
2. Complex (hard to master, no faceroll)
3. Have good survivability or escape mechanism
4. Good for PVP and welcome to dungeons

For soloing i think all classes could fit my demands, because mesmer is not that great PVE solo class, but i had most fun of PVE with mesmer so..

I'd say engineer fits you well then. He's amazingly fun to use (weapon kits and gadgets) make for interesting builds, especially in PvP. They may not be actively recruited, but a grenade engineer can easily stack vulnerability and bleeds, making them liked in dungeons.

The learning curve is subjectively high (compared to.a.warrior its a 90¤ wall), they have a unique way of fighting via weapon kits and elixirs offer anything from damage boosting, to condition removal and invulnerability(elixir s allows you to get close to downed payers and finish them without anyone able to.do anything to.stop.you).

Mesmer is an awesome PVE solo class due to point 2.

Well i really commented due other people experience while playing other classes, everyone says, that mesmers are kind a slow while playing PVE. If it isn't i am more than OK with that

P.s. from my personal experience, at low levels i felt weak while leveling, when warrior jumped in the battle and killed every single mob in few seconds Maybe i wasn't using all mesmer potential, didn't know how to play well. At higher levels it looked ok and at 80 i feel like a beast.

I second engineer. Engineer and Mesmer have a higher difficulty scale because of their not so straightforward play style. Harder to learn and master, but very rewarding when you do.

Engineers have a solution for everything. They can be close range, mid range, long range... CC, condition damager, full out dps... healer, supporter.

The true jack of all trades, but sadly master of none. You'll have a very varied play style, truly if you want it will never be dull. But if you want full efficiency there will always be another profession that does that single thing better.

Still sounds like your cup of tea though.

It sounds like you know what you are saying. And you rhyme well. So sir can you maybe describe what elementalist are good for? Or maybe some fun class to play in WvW for melting people faces?

Well

Warrior is not for you. Its awesome for PvE, its ok for solo pvp. Its great with some help as you can burst someone down, but you need a little bit help to reach people regularly.

Guardian is not for you either. Its a awesome class for node protection and team support, but it don't seem like something you would enjoy.

Necro could be for you, but i really not sure. Usually necro are good in longer fight. They have minion, life stealing, condition damage, all that are great for facing 1-2 even 3 enemies and they still cannot kill you. The a good necro will have the advantage over time. (Sure it depend on your build).

Engineer can do several things in a game. I don't really see you in that with the little info i have. Since you play alone you seem to like to kill player and get out. Engineer can't do that as good as other class. But they can support, AoE, control etc. You really get the boss of the class if you play with another player.

This leave us with Elementalist, Thief and Ranger which are the three profession i recommend for you.

- Ranger can give you a hard time with the condition and fast game play. He can melee and range really well so a good ranger will always attack you giving you not real break during a fight. Its also have some good trait to get out of danger. His pet give you a survivability and DPS bonus if you know how to play with it.

- Elementalist have a lot of tricks to hurt you and get you screaming of frustration. They are squishy as hell (worst of the game) but still have so much survivability out of their utilities. They can harass you during a long time or burst you down in a matter of second. They are also good a support without really diminishing they DPS or surviability, because they have so many skill with 4 attunements

- Thief are the master of kill and disappear. They car literally burst you down in one shot while you can't do nothing. Its really hard to do anything to defend yourselves against a good thieve. They immobilize you while stealth, then stealth against, get behind you while you can't move and backstab you to death. If you survive, they simply disappear so they are also so hard to kill.

Aye at low levels mesmers do feel weak especially compared to warriors. At 80 in full zerker damage is very nice though, cant really compare it to 22k critting warriors but you can still do around 10-15k burst in seconds

The difference is that Zerker Warrior down way more easily than Zerker Mesmer. (Illusions, Range, Distortion, etc VS Melee, Not moving for 3.5 second while using hundred blades).

Engineer is awesome, but frankly it feels so much better when you're grouped up, same as guardian (which whilst a great class is IMO less fun than the engi).

I think you could try a thief OP. It can be really fun and fast paced due to its acrobatics, stealth and initiative system, not to mention huge damage potential - but it does feel a bit... how can I put it... Limited? It just lacks the flair of the mesmer and variety of the engineer, and may get boring if its combat style just isn't your cup of tea. I had an 80 thief and moved to mesmer, but maybe it could work the other way for you!
