I started to play GW2 not long ago and I'm still a noob :( I have a problem with the chat.
How do I know how to interact with other people?
I know how to whisper/party or chat with guild members, but if I go "/l" the green chat, I don't see anybody talking there, am I doing it wrong? How do you get to see the local chat? How/where do I look for LFG?

I'm still learning how to play but I thought using the chat would not be hard, but I feel stupid traying to use it with no result. :(

If I can get some help I will appreciate it very much, thanks.

At the top of your chat box, the chat tab you have selected will have a small arrow pointing down, click that to bring up a list of the chat filters applied to that box. There should be a tab for 'Main' and 'Combat' by default, you can add more by clicking the +.

At the bottom of the chat window, to the left of your typing space you'll see [Say] or what ever other chat your currently typing in (for example [Guild] or [Party] ). Click that to bring up a list of all available chat types.
Most people use /map for grouping.

/say or /l (its the same thing) is chat for people in your immediate surroundings, it's short range and used for talking to people you can see next to you.

If you want to talk to people in your instance, use /map or /m. That's the orange chat you should see. it has the range of an entire town or explorable instance.

/l or /s only works to your local area and doesn't really have much of a range to it. So it's good if you want to talk to people in your immediate area without spamming the map chat.

Use /map /m or /whisper /w

/say is just for lulz, really.

I, like many others have say, map, team etc all turned off unless in WvW.

If they can't see it they won't reply.
