Is it just me or is the GW2 website not very helpful when it comes to detailed questions?
Does anyone know if there is a way to swap characters from one account to another?
My son has been playing a character on my account, two characters now, and we are thinking about buying him his own account with GW2 so that he can have the full experience and we could both play online at the same time. Would there be a way to transfer characters from my account to his?
TIA!

Nope, not possible.
And the official stance is sharing an account is against the TOS.

They usually don't have a problem with family members sharing accounts. They however won't help you if your account get "hacked" in a situation where the account was shared between family members.

Do you have a link where I can read their policy? Thank you.
If you look at "9. ACCOUNT ACCESS AND PERMISSIBLE ASSIGNMENT" there is information that might be relevant to you.

They also won't restore your stuff if one of the people using the account deletes someone else's character because there weren't any slots left. Bad things happen when people share accounts, that's why anet takes a hard stance against it. Even if that doesn't, there's the situation you're in, where your son has been playing characters on your account and is going to be disappointed when he learns he has to start over.
But that's the thing with video games, game overs happen, save files/characters get deleted, and sometimes stuff gets stolen or blown up by creepers. It's important not to get too attached to what you've accomplished in the video game. So maybe if you want this bad news to be broken to him easier, remind him that now you will be able to play together... and make a fresh character yourself. Maybe even give up one of your own characters to do it if the slots are full.
It may stink, but it isn't the end of the world.

Not the end of the world by any stretch. Not even a big deal. Thank you for the responses.
Stuff getting misplaced and deleted, I hear you on that. I'm not worried, would sucks, but as has been noted, it is only a video game.
