The key to such is stated right here.

I believe that also increased badge drops by updating the way credit for kills is determined with many damage sources.

Which was my point.

I know it was, but you didn't mention that in your initial post or when someone basically asked "How?" by asking your class/spec. Not everyone knows enough about the game or follows the patch notes enough to make that connection so I figured I would declare it straight out.

But yeah I ran around WvW as a level 30 ranger last night for maybe an hour and got like 30 badges.

Group up. Many people have experienced that you get less loot if you're not in a group.

I've been in groups and killed 1vs1 and still no badge. Just bad luck, or poor drop rate.

Pretty sure it doesnt work like that.

So you truly believe being in a group where your friends can do all the damage and you just have to hit the target one time (for a chance at badges) isn't a far superior way to running solo?

Use logic my friend, it can be useful.

side note: Almost done with my second legendary and besides running with the zergs on reset where i would usually get 20-50 badges per night I just do the JP on each of my 4 level 80's and that nets me about 20 badges per day during the week. After awhile you are able to do the JP first try everytime and that helps speed things up a bit.

Is my drop per hour within the norm?

If you are solo and not Wild Bill then yes.

Is there something I can do differently to help increase this drop rate?

3 options:

1. Join a zerg WvW guild and  make sure you mash F while you mash your auto attack and run towards hundreds of invisible enemies! (Let the fun begin, LOL)

2. Become a legendary gw2 jumper and make use of the JP. (It's where I've had most of my favorite fights)

3. Logon only for resets and primetime weekends and just run with whatever commander seems smartest. This way you can spend all week grinding the other parts of the legendary and besides the best time to WvW is always reset!

I kinda assumed folks who read this thread read the other thread right near by about loot bag drops being improved... and the fact that earlier on I posted I hardly ever get badges... BUT...You're probably right. Not safe to assume anything these days.

As of the last update, killing CalmLittleBuddy nets you 1.7 badges/kill.

...and he is a lot squishier and weaker than a supervisor now.

Too bad you can no longer test that out, old bean!

I was about equal to the Supervisor before. Now, not so much.

Forgot about this thread, but ya... the statement that i quoted and replied to doesnt actually work.
What i quoted said 'you need others [in your party] to tag players for you'....and that does not work.
Reading comprehension before logic i suppose.

Additionally, even in the scenario you provided about being in a party is not what actually helps you get badges. Simply running in a zerg vs another zerg does.  Being in a party does 0 to help you get badges.
Hell being in a party gives no real bonus other than making communication/coordination with 4 other people easier.
In regards to drops/tagging/damage, it is just as effective to just go out there solo and run with the zerg.

Implying that being in a party is needed to help people get badges implies that the OP would need to sit there and spam "LFG" in his borderland before he could hope to really make a decent amount of badges.  That isnt the case....

Oh and you need to do a certain amount of damage to your target to qualify for a chance at loot/badges.....not 'hit them one time'.  This is the same for PvE as in WvW.

The keys are:

1) Play in a group.
2) Do area damage -use Superior Sigil of Fire if your build is heavily focused in single targets-.
3) Be sure to do at least 1k damage to each enemy; as long as they die before leaving combat -doesn, matter if due your attacks or because the ones from your team mates- you will earn assured xp and chances of loot drops -including badges of honor-.

This is the OP.  Since the last patch, my Badge drop has significantly increased.  It may also be that I am getting better at WvW combat.  On a good run, I am getting 25 to 30 badges an hour.  One night I got 42 badges in an hour.  I also have to admit that last night I only got 5 badges in about 45 minutes and decided to get out before my repair bill got any higher! :)

I'll take 20 badges an hour as a good rate vs those dang jumping puzzles!

Good to hear! Yeah, bag rate still fluctuates and seems to come in runs. I hand in there until I get on a roll. Just make sure you hit nodes and complete events to offset that repair bill. I make about half a gold an hour in WvW not even pushing it. MOST of that is from event completion.

Yea, the badge system is really problematic, which is unfortunately since I want the armor set on my ranger, but I'm not sure how you could fix it.  If you reward people for using supply to build siege weapons, people will just start building siege weapons in random locations and waste supply.

I mean, auto-looting sounds like a solid idea, but they're still very sparse and heavily favor offensive AoE builds, whereas single target and support builds get shafted.

It would be awesome if a whole team could get a reward when something like a castle is taken, but then how do you sort out afkers?  How do you prevent win-trading on castles?

ugh..

I am not sure I understand the issue with badges? This last reset night when the action was heavy, I got over 400 of them. The biggest thing is being grouped and both finding fights and winning them.

In fact i wish we had more things to use badges on. Despite wasting a few thousand of them, I still have an entire bank vault full plus several stacks elsewhere.

Please read the above statement again. Makes no sense.

You realize your parties damage counts as yours? right? so yes if your party did 99% of the damage you would only have to hit him one time. I also love how you state that you must do a "specific" amount of damage but have no figures to back it up. 5%? 10%? That's only solo. The group has to do a certain amount of damage for xp/badges not you!

ONCE YOU BECOME A PARTY YOUR DAMAGE COUNTS AS IF IT IS ONE PERSON.(as long as you hit the target for at least 1 point of damage like I previously stated.)

So I guess you don't have any friends or guildies? since when does anyone spam LFG in this game.... And yes being in a solid group (preferably guildies/voice chat) is the best way to get badges, not following a zerg you cannot control.

I said nothing about not being able to make decent badges from zerg running, just stated what in my experience is the best way to get badges.

If it takes AoE to get mucho badges, then use AoEs. Every class has them! Get in a group, pop the AoE first, then swap to your weapon of single target goodness if you must.

Badges are account bound. Use you best AoE character for badge farming. You do NOT need to be level 80. Jus do eet!
