Hi there!

I'm Bluet00ch from the Esprits d'Orr Team and I'm here to share a very special podcast which is an interview of Colin Johanson, Game Director of Guild Wars 2.

We want to insist on the fact that the questions in this interview were not only ours but came from all the other invited fansites too (Fureur, Games Guide, Gw2.fr, Luna Atra, Mondes Persistants, Panthéon, Univers Virtuels, War Legend). As the recording was not perfect, we chose to record all the questions again on our own to improve sound's quality.

Here is the content of this podcast:

1. So first of all can you tell us about your role as a Game Director? (00:23)
2. Regarding Guild wars as a licence how would you define Guild Wars' DNA? (01:50)
3. Which features from Guild Wars 1 did you choose to give up and why? (03:49)
4. Do you think the licence lost something between GW1 and GW2? (05:45)
5. A lot of Guild Wars 1 players are complaining about the fact that you got rid of secondary profession and made the game a little too simple. For example the fact that you have only 5 skills per weapons. what's your opinion ? (06:16)
6. A question about the "Living-story", we are worried about this and precisely about casual gamers. How could they manage to keep being involved in GW2 scenario without attending every world events? So we are not able to "replay" past event but we'll know what happened, right ? (09:13)
7. Do you plan on creating a time-line ? (11:20)
8. One question about Role-Play, do you plan on adding some spots for Rp players like camps or anything in Guild Wars 2? (11:37)
9. Do you plan on implementing interactions with objects like, for example, sitting on a chair? (12:34)
10. And what about first person view? (10:32)
11. I have a question about the lore, do you think we'll see again some evil gods such as Menzies or Abbadon (13:37)
12. , what could you tell us about this mysterious wizard tower in south est of Kessex Hills? (14:08)
13. A Few days ago you had to deal with questions about "adding new zones", what is your opinion? (14:42)
14. What about missions designed for more than 5 players? (17:07)
15. Now a question about SPvP what can you tell us about private server? (18:43)
16. What is very annoying is the clipping's problem, what will you do about that? (21:00)
17. I have some problems finding groups or players to play with, what do you plan to do about this? (22:52)
18. Are we going to have the possiblity to change our race with Gemmes at the Black Lion's Compagny? (23:32)
19. Do you plan on adding more legendary weapons? (24 :25)
20. Could you please tell us more about an upcoming update where you could choose your daily achievement? (25 :41)
21. We enjoy wasting time in doing something useless but pretty good looking, what can you say about housing's customisation? (26 :42)
22. How do you tend to solve the housing problems lots of games have been through?(27 :40)
23. What about guild halls ? (29 :00)
24. We want to talk about guild improvment, do you think it'll be possible to have a message telling us when people are logging in or off for example and if we're going to have the possibilty to make an alliance with a private chat? (29 :20)

I want to thank again ArenaNet and NCsoft for their support and I hope you'll enjoy this podcast as much as we have.

See ya!

Interesting concept on improving skill depth/functionality. I really can't wait until the reboot the dungeons fully, I'm excited for Ascalonian Catacombs. New tactics attached to bosses and mobs will (hopefully) open up more build functionality.

I like how he at least acknowledges that the majority of traits in the game right now are total crap most of the time (6:16), I'd just love to see the team really doing something to change that. The balancing changes so far did not even touch most of those worthless traits, and that's were some more work is direly needed right now imho.
