I am stuck at work for the next 7 hours.  If anyone has time, can you post a screenshot of the new selectable daily options?

What are the initial impressions?  Good or Bad?  Do they take longer or shorter amount of time?

Has anyone completed more than the five?   If so, did you get any additional rewards?

They are more difficult take more time to complete which is bad for casual play :(

- 40 kills in Ascalon
- 40 kills in Shiverpeak
- 20 Gatherings
- 5 sidekicked events
- 3 skillpoints
- 10 salvs
- 1 jumping puzzle
- 1 fractal
- 10 enemy mist invaders killed

As far as I know you just do 5 of those and that completes the daily.

While not necessarily more difficult, they might take more time to complete than previous ones. Also, I don't like an additional wp cost to go to specific zones.

Yeah, it definately takes more time now to do them. With the previous dailies, you could get objectives done in about 15 minutes if you were lucky. Now you have to spend more time, so I'm guessing they really want you to do them as you play and not specifically go out and do daily.

Thats what I meant :P I'm hoping they bring back some of the old ones additionally so we have some more choice (which is the entire point of the new system - to have choice).

I was hoping we would have more of a selection? But I 'spose more may be added over time or the above poster didn't share the full list? But to be honest, it won't take any longer than before.

Quote

- 40 kills in Ascalon
- 20 Gatherings
- 5 sidekicked events
- 3 skillpoints
- 10 salvs

Those can all be done in about one go-round.

They are not difficult, but much more time consuming imho. I suppose it's not a huge deal. What makes me really sad is when I logged on it says "you only need to complete a subset of your daily or monthly category." I got so excited thinking I'd actually be able to do the monthly for once, but when I looked it was still requiring all 4 things and not giving me a choice. :( Why must you make me do dungeons Anet? Why!

I assume since it's the 26th... that will start next month, since rebooting the monthlies this month may have caused complications with those who had already done theirs, etc.

If they've implemented monthly changes, they likely won't apply until the next month actually starts.

I really hope that's the case. It makes sense I suppose, you wouldn't want to reset monthlies so close to the end of the month. Gives me hope that I might be able to do the monthly next month. *crosses fingers*

3 skill points! How does that happen then on a daily when you have them all?

You can still do the requirements for a certain skill point objective and not receive the skill point reward. My guess is that you can just do them over again to complete the daily, I could be wrong though...

I'm pretty sure the available events still change from day to day.

Ascalon and Shiverpeaks are probably there because of the Living Story (got each in like 10 seconds with all the upscaled events there)

But I will be honest, they had me at Jumping Puzzle Daily. I will take every excuse to do JPs xP

If you want to do them as fast as possible, Skill Points, JP, Salvage and Gathering are really fast if you know what you are doing and I guess you are pretty likely to do one of the others during the day, depending on what you like to do, so I'm happy with it so far.

One Anetpoint for every additional one. Not worth the hassle in my opinion.

Level up three times, or make an alt.

I got mine done in about 15 mins. The jumping puzzle is easy, I was already in Queensdale so I did demongrub pits. Gatherer actually seemed like it required less? Either way it's not harder than before. That's 2/5. Shiverpeak Slayer was faster than kill variety, kill count, aquatic slayer or veteran slayer (assuming you didn't do FotM) and sidekicked events was the same as events. That left salvage, which can be done almost instantly every day.

Currently, my experience today, was that this is an improvement. That's if you go out of your way. A lot of players will naturally complete the fractal and WvW requirements without extra effort.

Just doing the "old" gatherer earlier today, I can say that each successful "gather" (so for example, if I collect 3 silver ore from a node, that would give me a sum of 3 successful "gathers"; just making sure my point is clear, haha) would give you 5% towards the Gatherer Daily.

So it's the same.

Would love clarification on a couple of these.

5 sidekicked events
What the hell are sidekick events?

10 enemy mist invaders
Does this include WvW invader kills or is this a sPvP thing?  I'm assuming it includes WvW player kills, but just want to make sure.

At first when I heard we'd be able to choose 5 dailies to complete ourselves, I thought great, this will cut down some time.  Doesn't look like the case though with the choices they've given us.

Events done when you're downscaled to their level. Basically, every zone's events except for Cursed Shore and Southsun Cove (if you're 80) count for it.

Essentially that means doing 5 events, with the slight limitation that they can't be done in the true lvl 80 areas. This will not affect the folks who run events in areas where they are downscaled (which for me personally is most of the time, although the 'old' way of allowing me to get one or two at Orr where I've parked an alt was actually a good convenience).

The 3 skill points is interesting. Currently I'm mapping so it will come 'along the way', but for those who have done the lot, it does seem counterproductive to have to run the skill point challenge again. And my assumption is that for 'repeat' skill point challenges, the only ones that are doable are the ones that involve sparring. Those 'free' ones that involve just a channel or consuming a particular item are not repeatable AFAIK. Leveling up three times is another option, though I hardly ever gain 3 levels in a night of play after work.

As for some of the rest...time to start parking some alts in a nearby area! :D

I'd be interested to know also whether 'enemy mist invaders' are the ones in WvW or PvP.

Cool I can select them, but now they change everyday as well. And I can only select 5 maximum. Why is there even a limit????

There are more choices, but it seems pretty questionable.

Quote

- 40 kills in Ascalon
- 40 kills in Shiverpeak

I really don't like the idea of area specific achievements. That's too restrictive, though I imagine this will change every day.

Quote

20 Gatherings

Standard.

Quote

5 sidekicked events
Actaully this is good.

Quote

3 skillpoints
This better allow previously completed skill challenges.

Quote

10 salvs
Seems reasonable.

Quote

1 jumping puzzle
- 1 fractal

Ugh, no.

Quote

10 enemy mist invaders killed

Fair enough if you like wvw.

It is skill points not skill challenges.
Complete skill challenges give no skill points.

Took me less than an hour to do the daily but to be fair I did 2 skill challenges and the second leveled me up for my third skill point.

Nope. but skills gained by "leveling" past 80 do count. its skill points, not challenges.

Edit: my friend did the daily in 10 minutes: 3 skill points. 40 ascalonian kills. 1 jp (broken wall blitz). gatherings and salvage.

Right, thanks for clearing that up.

I guess I can't to the events in WvW like i used to now as well.  Shame.

The new dailies are so much easier and quicker. For example the Ascalon kills we just did one path of the new AC(which also did down leveled events for us too). Today I did aquatic, variety and healer. Which all dovetail really well.

Not gonna complain on this update.

I didn't mind the old daily always finished it in about 30mins, this one takes a little longer but it's overall more fun and that's what matters in the end.

The skill point achievement is pretty easy once you're 80. The achievements all seem to be designed to fit in well with whatever area of the game you happen to be working on, progression-wise.

Just feels like they gave us more options, yet it takes longer, and costs me more to WP around the maps - overall I'd say it's a bad change for those just logging in to do the daily then logging off.

I really had no issue with the old daily options (or lack of), my beef was purely with the monthly, and it's forced 5-man content

Do we even know if they intend to change it up for the next monthly or is that just people guessing?
