New Daily Achievements Options - What's your impression?

Looking at today's options, I found myself picking 4 of the ones we got presented with for the last 4 weeks, and wondering what the hell I was going to pick for a fifth. What a disaster this turned out to be.

As it is I can do 3 or 4 of these without any special effort but the rest is going to require me going to a low level zone or otherwise going out of my way to get it done. To do the first series before the reset I had to go to Plains of Ashford and Frostgorge and scrounge around for sidekicked events, which is time consuming.
The latter is bound to ruin the game for low-level players as what I experienced doing sidekicked events in Ashford was a mad rush by level 80s to get kills and finish the events as quick as possible while totally shutting out the lowbies in our midst.

- 40 kills in Shiverpeak
- 20 Gatherings
- 5 sidekicked events
- 3 skillpoints
- 10 salvs
- 1 jumping puzzle
- 1 fractal
- 10 enemy mist invaders killed
Because today, we have different ones.
Regarding the lists themselves:
1. The list above is basically impossible for me to complete. For instance, on Monday, I played enough to gain 10 levels on my new thief. I played him in Caledon, which meant no kills-achievement, I didn't do any salvages, I didn't do any JPs, I didn't do any Fraks, I didn't do any WvW.
This means I spent a whole day playing and I did gathering, skillpoints and events IF sidekicked events means doing non-80 events. If, on the other hand, it means doing events down-levelled, then I didn't do a single event.
2. As for today's list - I have a character parked in Metrica so I can do heals, he's close to the water so I can also do underwater (although I hate underwater kills because of kill stealing), the underwater and the road to the water will allow me to get the variety kills once I switch to a different character (which means I'll get the variety by playing two characters), I can do gatherings. I guess group event could be done by doing the Queensdale troll 2 times.
I don't do PS (needing to start it in specific order, in specific locations WITHOUT free waypoint travel is just too restrictive for me to bother with), I don't do Kegs (why would I be doing that?), I don't do Mystic Forge (the only time I use it is when I am deleting characters and I need to change karma into gold), I don't do WvW (make it UAX or I'll continue visiting the place for storage only)
If this goes on (especially if we see more lists like the one posted above), it will either mean I'll need to give up on dailies or change the way I play the game. AGAIN.

I wasnt able to finish yesterday's daily though will probably get better at completing them efficiently.
I thought sidekicked events meant you had to party with at least 1 low level player and help them do events (hence the title "Event Mentor") but if it's just completing low level events then thats actually pretty good.
With regards to the 40 kills in 1 area, those can be a problem if everyone starts doing them - that zone gets overpopulated and it might get harder to find 40 mobs to kill. But then we do get overflows so that should make it easier again.
1 fractal - I assume thats a single fractal and not a set of 3?
Mist invaders - this is PvP isn't it? Why is this part of the PvE daily?

WvW has been part of the PvE (monthly) achievements since release ^^
WvW is still players vs players which I don't do because it makes me rage
I was extremely happy that the monthly in february didn't include any WvW - it's the first one I've actually completed. I'm guessing WvW will be back again in March, boohiss.

WvW is not tagged as PvP by the game though. Which would be correct since it is far more than just PvP.
Have you even tried WvW? Or do you simply assume it sucks because you don't like PvP?

I've tried it, got zerged by a group of people a few times, got annoyed, left. WvW might have PvE elements but in the end it's still players against players, so imho should be tagged as PvP.

So, until it runs for a few days, and we get to see all of the options over time, it is hard to say. For example one of my options was to complete a new guild mission, which I am told can be rather long and tedious.

It "forces" you in the exact same way as the daily does in the first place. And people on here have been arguing non stop about how you don't need to do them and no ones forcing you to do them.
So which is it?

If any changes would be made, I'd prefer to see A.Net change the way laurels are awarded: give players a laurel for each achievement and then raise the number of laurels required for rewards (max 9 laurels per day - or even better: add an additional achievement or reward an extra laurel if you do them all and make it max 10 per day). That way players can still advance their laurel grind, even by doing one achievement without this silly "all-or-nothing"-type grind.
Plus it would be very much in line with their GW1 ZCoin grind.

I did like how personal story was an option. The story itself still sucks but it feels more rewarding to do it if I get daily credit.
Overall though it's a step back. More choices is good but having such nuance to most of them means it I'll take longer at least until I learn to finesse it. For example you can do underwater kills and kills in a certain zone simultaneously.
I don't like how it is not strictly WvW friendly. Theoretically you can still do it out there but many things like gathering salvaging and 13 types of enemies are not things you will get in the course of most WvW if you are a responsible player.

"Hmm, I would like to do story missing now, but lets save it for tommorow, it will be daily then"
"There is skill challenge, lets not do it now, it will be usefull next monday"
I am especially worried about these two as you can easily run out of them.
"Lets put off theese salvages till thursday"
"I need to stop leveling crafting now, got 10 crafts and it would be most efficient to continue later this week"
Theese provide incentive to save up for later, but luckily its effect is very small. Big Monthly salvage made me save stackable salvagibles thou.

Maybe I don't understand - how can you "save it for tomorrow"? The daily options are different everyday. If you don't want to salvage one day, it might not be there tomorrow. It may be there in a couple of days, but not necessarily tomorrow.

If you really need 3 Skill points on a 100% explored character just do COF 3 times before you go out and kill stuff.

Generic Example, it might have been apparent from other items.
Basic point is that something that does not happen in average game session it is better of put until it is part of daily, paradoxically making dalilies make players less interested in doing it in non-daily days even if they wanted to do it.

-Daily kill variety (check)
-Daily aquatic slayer (check)
-Daily gatherer (check)
-Personal story completer - I don't play the storyline...
-Daily healer (check)
-Mystic forgesmith - Dont have the items for mystic forge
-Keg brawl stealer - I don't play the mini games
-Group event completion - Searched for an hour, could not find one active with enough players around
-Daily myst invasion - no clue where this happens
The list does not favor the causual player. We need a larger list or at least 5 choices out of the old daily event list...

Mine right now are the usual gatherer, aquatic slayer, kill variety and healer, with a wvw, mystic forge and personal story ones thrown in

Unless they changed it you can put blue items into the forge, not sure about whites but wouldn't be surprised. These items can also be at any level so they don't have to be level 80. If you did the kills I can't imagine you don't have 10 blue items to stick into the forge. For group events you have to focus on the more popular ones if you want to guarantee participation. Most of them can be found at:
