I was extremely happy that the monthly in february didn't include any WvW - it's the first one I've actually completed. I'm guessing WvW will be back again in March, boohiss.

I hope so.

Just like some people only play PvE, people like myself mainly play WvW.  It's good that someone like me can still complete most dailies playing the game how I want.  The way it's set up now accommodates most play styles, which is a good thing.

Most of the PvE monthly is PvE so it's not going to help you overly much if 1 of the categories is WvW - you'd still need to complete the other PvE parts. What would be much more along the line of "play the way you want" is if they'd separate alls the PvP+WvW and the PvE dailies and monthlies and let you choose the reward for completing them. So you can choose to get the PvP rewards or the PvE rewards by completing the dailies and monthlies in the category you like best. Ofc they might have to make it so that you cant choose the same reward twice if you complete both.

Unless they changed it you can put blue items into the forge, not sure about whites but wouldn't be surprised.   These items can also be at any level so they don't have to be level 80.  If you did the kills I can't imagine you don't have 10 blue items to stick into the forge.  For group events you have to focus on the more popular ones if you want to guarantee participation.  Most of them can be found at:
http://guildwarstemp...=111&langKey=en (change your server if you are not FA obviously)

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that; always thought some special items were needed to upgrade on the forge.

Ehh...I have to admit I was hoping for some sort of Master List of daily achievements that I could pick 5 from (preferably the same 5), instead of be given a choice of 5 out of X randomly selected dailies. Don't think I like that Events has been split up into subsets (sidekick event, group even etc), or that kills can be achievable only in relevant zones. Seems like needless busywork. What's next? Craft 10 Silver Filigrees? Gather 10 Cloves? Salvage 5 Gossamer Scraps? Eat 100 pieces of Candycorn in under 60 seconds?

Some of the new ones I'm ok with, like completing a story mission. I mean, why not? But mostly I don't really care.

I like them. It definitely doesn't take me any longer to do. I actually did yesterday's daily in the span of 20 minutes. 4:40pm log in...daily done by 4:55pm just in time for daily reset.

Today's selection seems to have 6 achievements I actually have a shot at completing. Much better than what we saw in the last two days.

EDIT:
This turned out to be even better than I could have hoped. Vets, kills, white trash, gatherer and level. This is basically how I enjoy playing the game and it finally came together. I'd LOVE to get the DE done, but as I said a number of times, if the DEs aren't taking place, there's not much you can do about it.

Some of the requirements for the daily are now actually impossible to complete, or so pointless that no sane person would want to complete them.

An example of the first kind is "Leveler", where you have to gain a level. If all your characters are level 80 already you cannot complete this requirement and therefore cannot complete the daily.

An example of the second kind is "Karma spender", where you have to buy some stuff from karma merchants. If you are at the point where none of the karma merchants sell anything you want (full exo and maxed crafting, for instance), there is absolutely no point to this activity.

There have been two days since the new dailies and on neither of these days have I been motivated to even attempt to complete them, since if I cannot complete one, there is no point doing the others.

GW2 just got a whole lot more boring and pointless for me.

Splat 30 innocent small things, then you are already a good way to daily killing. Go gather meanwhile. That's 3. FInd some events for the 4th. Go to  Orr and buy a  jewel box. Not hard. I like the new dailies.

Yesterday managed to get all nine from the list completed. That was actually fun to do... it took me from WvW to Metrica to Orr (where I killed a Champion I hadn't seen before).

At this point in time, I am not disappointed.

You can level up even at 80, it should count just fine.

I, however, agree that it is very easy to be in state where completing some dailies can be very frustrating - sometimes, you can not really avoid one of them.

Salvage kits, Gathering tools, Consumable like spy kit, Obsidian shards...

Yeah I think some of the new dalies are a lot quicker than before. Today I checked gather 20, kill 50, kill 1 champ, spend 750 karma, and level up 1 level(made a new char and then deleted to get from level 1 to 2 lol). Took like 15 mins?

I like some of these new achievements because they don't take that much luck to get them. I really disliked having to go out of my way to hunt down 5 events every day before or trying to find people to rez. Truthfully think most of the new dalies are quite reasonable.

Today's 4 were doable by simply advancing my character (kills, gatherer, Ascalon, dodges) - had to switch characters for the last one (Shiverpeaks). As always, not a fan of area-specific ones, but since it seems that they'll be pushing the LS, I'll plan some guys in Ascalon/Shoverspeaks and just switch characters when the dailies pop-up.

Still, the one that bothers me the most (today) is the story dungeon one. A few months ago they removed rewards from the story dungeons and said that they didn't want folks running those - explorable dungeons are what folks should be doing. So why the *ing * should we be doing this now?

Really?  When and where did they say that?

I know right now I only do story mode to unlock exp and for the achievement, since there are no rewards.  If it were up to me, I would leave the rewards and change the difficulty to match exp.  That way the hard work from the developers isn't an "oh, I havvveee to?" experience, but one that people enjoy repeating.

I distinctly remember A.net stating that folks shouldn't be repeating story, but should rather move to explorable and that's the reason why they cut down the rewards for repeating it.
Sadly, I have no idea when the change happened and I have no idea where that was said. I MIGHT have been one of their forum posts?

I am very unhappy. When the patch hit we got that popup that said we only needed to do a "subset for the daily or monthly category." I assumed since it was the end of the month that they didn't want to reset the monthlies. But alas, it has reset and we still don't get the choice that pop up promised us. :(

They have never stated you would be able to select your monthlies with this update.

Yes they did. If you were paying attention when the patch went live there was a little pop-up that pointed to your dailies on the right side of the screen. In that pop up it specifically mentioned you could choose a subset of dailies and monthlies. It was like the first thing I pointed out in this very thread when the patch went live.

Unless you mean just generally on the forums or in their blog posts. That's true. But why put that pop up in-game then? Why give the false hope?

Make a new char. Do tutorial. Get daily. Delete character. Takes like 3 minutes?

or just gain an SP on your 80 by "leveling" and get it anyways, cause it definitely triggered for me and all my chars are at 80.
