I just wanted to ask, what kind of gears do you guys wear?

I'm running around with:
Full Knight Armor (Toughtness/Power/Prec)
Full Berserk Trinkets (Power/Prec/CritDmg)
Full Berserk Weapons (Power/Prec/CritDmg)

I always tought this equip was very well balanced with my traits allocation which is:
0/10/10/30/20

Basically i provide HP + Boons and a bit of Prec + Toughtness from traits and i balance what i lack of with equip: Power + Toughtness and Precision + CritDmg.

Now i was thinking... could be better go Half Berserk and Half Soldier in Armor than Full Knight?
(not changing trinkets and weapons which remain full Berserk)

Share ur opinion and explaine why!

Thanks everyone :)

knight armor--hands, legs, chest, head, shoulders
berserker-shoes

knight earrings with ruby jewels
ascended berserker amulet and ring
ascended soldier ring
berserker back piece

six superior runes of divinity

two berserker daggers

i don't go with soldier armor since it gives two defensive stats instead of one, and i might end up replacing my soldier ring with another berserker one when i get the chance. i feel that the 30 points in water gives me enough extra HP, and the toughness from my armor lets me take the occasional hit if i have to.

if i use a Master Maintenance Oil and Bowl of Curry Butternut Squash Soup, i think my crit chance is 78% with fury up, and my crit damage is 87%. i think that's a pretty nice balance between damage and survivability.

Soldier - Head, chest, legs
Valkyrie - boots, gloves
Berserker - Daggers, amulet ring (ascended)
Cavalier - backpiece  (ascended), ring  (ascended), accessories (with ruby jewels)

Runes - 2 * Superior Runes of the Monk/Water, 2 * Superior Runes of Divinity
Sigils - Superior sigil of Battle, Superior Sigil of Bloodlust

I run with Truffle Ravioli and Sharpening Stones (might switch for Maintenance Oils)

16K health
3000 attack
29% crit chance (food, no fury)
72% crit damage
2380 armor

With the upgrades getting to be ascended the stats will be:

16K health
3000 attack
28% crit chance (food, no fury)
72% crit damage
2450 armor

I have a commander tag and like to sometimes use it so I need the extra health, but I also have the option to sub in some knights daggers for more toughness if i feel like it. This is where I'm comfortable at though. With the amount of fury that I have access to (auras and attunement swap) I feel like that's enough crit for the moment.

Oddly enough I run very similar gear to yours.

I run full a full Knight's set with 2x Superior Rune of Monk, 2x Superior Rune of Water, 2x Major Rune of Water for 70% Boon Duration
Trait allocation is 0/10/0/30/30

In terms of other gear I run full berserker's trinkets except for the backpiece in which I run the cavalier's one (Power/Toughness/Crit Dmg)

For weapon's I actually run Power/Vitality/Crit Dmg and this actually bumps my HP up to around 15k where as if I had used Zerk daggers then I would be down to about 13.8k HP and I'm much more comfortable with 15k.

My overall stats are (without any food buffs or fury)
~15k Health
~2200 Armor
1869 Power (about 2850 Attack) So much more will be added if you have any might
~36% base crit (about 73% with Fury, 25 stacks of precision, and 5% crit chance sigil and could be even higher with food and maintenance oils)
64% Crit Damage base (74% with Curry Butternut Soup)

Currently running PVT armor with boon duration runes and 0/10/0/30/30 and beserker weapons. I was considering switching to beserkers armor (which I try and use with staff) or a 50/50 PVT/Berserker split for a little more damage and fraps'd a quick "can I get 1 shot" test vs the arch diviner in fractals.

But after seeing so many posts going with knight's gear on ele, I'm now re-thinking... As an aside ele is proving to be an "expensive" class to play in that there's so many options for gear to 'try out' (crit or condition or cleric/healing or boon duration etc etc)', a nice problem to have though :).

Currently I do not run an auramancer with d/d, however just wanted to chime in with a thought on this question in your post.

There could be some differences in the outcome depending on which 'half' of your armor you decide to turn into Berserker's. Essentially we are giving up points in the secondary stat in exchange for % increase in crit damage. The number of secondary stat points you give up for every 1% increase in crit damage differs according to which armor piece we replace.

Have a look at this thread on min-maxing with critical damage:

http://www.guildwars...ritical-damage/

Bottom line is, if I were to decide to run half my armor as Berserker's, I would choose to replace shoulders, gloves and boots first. With these three pieces we give up the least amount of secondary stat points for the crit damage. If we did this, we lose 72 secondary stat points and gain 6% crit damage. Compare that to for example, changing your chest piece for Berserker's which will lose 72 secondary stat points and only gain 5% crit damage.

mmh that's interesting, well berserk stuff would go in the "bigger" armor pieces like chest and pants while soldier's would go to the "smaller" slots!

Ofc this question lead to another one: as Auramancer do you prefer to be more offensive oriented / defensive oriented / balanced ? (stat wise)

exactly opposite
legs and head are the worst place for zerker gear ...

I myself am running 0/10/0/30/30, with divinity where it's possible (every stat is usefull for ele), full knight armor, zerker everything else

@ your second question: in present state of game as Ele u need to be as offensive as possible while not dying too much and that is based on your skill

EDIT:
my ideal setup (stats including food)

i prefer to be more offensive-based, but still with some defense. i think if you go with a defense-based d/d ele in PvE, you're kinda defeating the purpose of being a d/d ele, because we have so much mobility and so many escape options that we shouldn't need a bunch of extra defensive stats. i realize that people are free to play the way they want and enjoy the game however they want, but if you're looking to max your output and be the best you can be, you shouldn't be going with stuff like soldier or cleric as a d/d ele. and if you think you need it, then it's probably a l2p issue.

Not really. If we're comparing exotics only, the worst pieces to change to Berserker's would be the headpiece, leggings, backpiece and rings. Second worst thing to change to Berserker's is the chestpiece. In these cases we lose the most number of secondary stat points compared to the return in % of crit damage.

However there are ascended backpieces, amulets and rings available at this time that have better ratios. So technically speaking, wewould change the backpiece, amulet and rings to ascended Berserker's gear first (if available to you either through laurels, commendations, fractal relics etc) and then if you still want more Berserker's gear, change your shoulders, gloves and boots next.

oh i see, so the "smaller pieces" are better to be Zerk, while the other not
